SELECTION PROCESS
A completed CalOpps application and resume is required.
When uploading your certifications in CalOpps, please make sure the pdf is no larger than 2 MB.
To be considered for this position, a completed employment application and resume must be submitted through CalOpps by 11:59pm, June 1st, 2025. The selection process will begin with a review of applications to determine those applicants who are best qualified. The best qualified candidates will be invited to continue to the oral board phase tentatively held on the week of June 9th, 2025. Those passing the examination process will be placed on an eligibility list for Public Safety Dispatcher classification. Names of all eligible candidates will be forwarded to the Police Department for further rounds of interviews and testing.

Prior to receiving a conditional offer of employment, the selected finalist(s) will be required to successfully complete fingerprinting and a background investigation, which will include a polygraph examination and which shall adhere to the P.O.S.T. background investigation dimensions. Upon receiving a conditional offer of employment, the applicant will be required to complete a psychological evaluation and a City paid pre-employment medical examination to include testing for the presence of drugs and alcohol. Applicants must be successful in all phases of the selection process to be considered for this position.In accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act 1986, all potential employees are required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or authorization to work in the United States. All new employees are required by law to sign a loyalty oath.All government employees are disaster service workers as defined by California Government Code Section 3100. In addition to everyday duties, employees have the added responsibility of helping throughout any disaster.
