The City of Union City's Community and Recreation Services is seeking returning staff for the following roles:
- Bike Workshop Technician (Recreation Leader) - $18.11-$22.01/hourly
- Building Attendant (Recreation Aide) - $16.90-$17.74/hourly
- Building Attendant (Recreation Leader) - $18.11-$22.01/hourly
- Day Camp and Sports Camp Leader (Recreation Leader) - $18.11-$22.01/hourly

Ideal Candidate
1. Bike Workshop Technician (Recreation Leader)
Staff are responsible for fixing, maintaining, and selling bikes and assisting in the operation of the bike workshop. Setting up and take down of the bike workshop, includes performing basic bike repair on a variety of bikes, maintaining inventory and accounting records of bikes and parts, and providing customer service with effective communication. Lastly, assisting the CRS Project Specialist with basic cash handling duties and special events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 17.5 years old.
- Possess a valid California Driver’s License is desirable.
- CPR/ First Aide/ AED Certification by 1 month from their first day of employment (training for certification will be provided by City of Union City upon employment).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Scheduled shifts will vary on program, staff must be available to work during the day, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
2. Building Attendant (Recreation Aide)
Staff are responsible for overseeing community recreational facilities before, during and after activities and enrichment classes. Staff are also to engage with the public and provide customer service and conduct opening and closing procedures of building.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 15 years old.
Possessing a valid California Driver's License is desirable but not required.
Work Permit if applicable.
CPR/First Aide/AED Certification by 1 month from their first day of employment (training for certification will be provided by City of Union City).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Scheduled shifts will vary on program, staff must be available to work during the day, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
3. Building Attendant (Recreation Leader)
Staff are responsible for overseeing community recreational facilities before, during and after activities and enrichment classes. In addition, Building Attendants provide customer service and opening and closing procedures of building.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 17.5 years old.
- Possess a valid California Driver’s License is desirable.
- CPR/ First Aide/ AED Certification by 1 month from their first day of employment (training for certification will be provided by City of Union City upon employment).

4. Day Camp & Sports Camp Leader (Recreation Leader)
Energetic, creative, and responsible leader to work with children ages 3-12 at Summer Camp programs, childcare and other youth activity programs. The leader is responsible for planning and implementing daily sports, games, arts and crafts, drama, songs, science, and nature activities. Leaders may also chaperone participants on field trips and engage with physically active activities such as swimming. Leaders are expected to provide participants with emotional support, resolve conflicts, and develop skills, while promoting a positive and inclusive environment. In addition, leaders must be able to work collaboratively with other staff to plan and coordinate schedules and events and communicate with parents and camp leadership about camper progress or concerns.

- Must be at least 17.5 years old.
- Possess a valid California Driver’s License is desirable.

5. Gym Attendant or Scorekeeper (Recreation Aide)
Staff are responsible for greeting and assisting members and visitors of the Mark Green Sports Center while providing high levels of customer service; set-up, take down and clean-up of classes; issue and collect equipment; provide basic operational instruction of fitness equipment; monitor safety; complete daily cleaning and sanitizing duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 15 years old.
Possessing a valid California Driver's License is desirable but not required.
Work Permit if applicable.

6. Facility Rental Reception Aide (Recreation Aide)
Staff are responsible for setting up and cleaning rooms and community recreational facilities before, during and after activities and fee classes. Aide will engage and communicate with the public and facility rental patrons, as well as oversee the event to ensure the safety of event attendees, equipment, and building.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 15 years old.
Possessing a valid California Driver's License is desirable but not required.

7. Facility Rental Reception Leader (Recreation Leader)
Staff are responsible for seting up rooms with tables and chairs, communicate and oversee the event while working closely with the rental permittee to ensure the safety of event attendees, equipment, and building. This assignment includes setting up and cleaning community recreational facilities before, during and after activities and fee classes.

8. Fitness Attendant (Recreation Leader)
Staff are responsible for greeting and assisting members and visitors of the Mark Green Sports Center. 9. Summer Camp & Sports Camp Aide (Recreation Aide)
Under direct supervision, the Camp Aide is responsible for planning and implementing daily sports, games, arts-and-crafts, drama, songs, science, and nature activities. The Summer and Sports Camp Aide will be an energetic, creative, and responsible leader that leads and supports with activities for children ages 3-12 at Summer Camp programs, childcare and other youth programs. The Camp Aides may also chaperone participants on field trips and participate in physical activities such as swimming. In addition, Camp Aides must be able to work collaboratively with other staff to coordinate schedules, events, and communicate with parents and camp leadership about camper progress or concerns.

10. Teen Leader (Recreation Leader)
Energetic, creative, and responsible leaders are needed to work with teens ages 12-16 years at Teen Camp and, Teen Center Programs. Leaders are responsible for creating, engaging, and providing an inclusive environment. In addition to planning and implementing daily games, sports, arts-n-crafts, and teen appropriate activities to empower teens to explore their interests and develop valuable skills. Leaders will also chaperone participants on occasional field trips and swimming.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 17.5 years old.
- Possess a valid California Driver’s License is desirable.
- CPR/ First Aide/ AED Certification by 1 month from their first day of employment (training for certification will be provided by City of Union City upon employment).

11. Therapeutic Recreation (Special Needs) Leader (Recreation Leader)
Energetic, caring, creative, and patient leaders are needed to work with participants ages 5 -16, with intellectual and/or physical disabilities in special events, outings, and other activities. As a Therapeutic Recreation Leader, facilitating and providing opportunities for participants with special needs to assist with physical engagement and social activities while providing in a safe and inclusive environment. Ideal candidates would have strong communication skills and work effectively in a group and in a one-to-one setting.

- Must be at least 17.5 years old.
- Possess a valid California Driver’s License is desirable.
- CPR/ First Aide/ AED Certification by 1 month from their first day of employment (training for certification will be provided by City of Union City upon employment).

12. Safe Parking Attendant (Senior Recreation Leader)
Under direct supervision from CRS Senior Supervisor, the Safe Parking Attendant is responsible for maintaining and enforcing proper city procedures and policies for the CAREavan Safe Overnight Parking program. This program allows families and individuals currently living in their vehicles a safe place to park overnight. Safe Parking Attendants perform site inspections and enforce site policies, supervise participants, and manage each CAREavan location facility. Attendant must be able to clearly communicate, stand firm on policies, control diverse situations and always possess a friendly disposition and professional demeanor. In addition, Attendant will respond to participant concerns, work in all weather conditions, be reliable with a strong work ethic and personal integrity.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, have a satisfactory driving record and own transportation.
- First Aid/CPR certification is desired.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Hours will range from 4 – 33 hours a week between the hours of 7pm – 7am.
- Scheduled shifts will vary on program, staff must be available to work during the evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to work in all weather conditions.
