This is an unrep, full-time, 40 hours per week position working 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays; 8:00 AM to 7:30 PM on Wednesdays; and 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM on Fridays; with occasional evening and weekend hours.

Safeguard Pacifica

The City of Pacifica is seeking a seasoned and forward-thinking leader to serve as Deputy Director of Public Works – Wastewater. This senior role offers the opportunity to oversee essential wastewater operations that protect public health, safeguard the environment, and support a thriving coastal community.

As second-in-command of the Public Works Department, the Deputy Director provides strategic and operational leadership for the City’s wastewater treatment plant, collection system, and stormwater pump stations. The position plays a key role in long-range planning, regulatory compliance, capital project delivery, and workforce development.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in wastewater operations, capital project delivery, and regulatory environments, along with a calm, decisive presence during emergencies and high-stakes situations. Equally important, they model accountability, mentorship, and continuous improvement-leaning in to solve problems while building trust and ownership across the division.
