                              POSITION DETAILS:

  • Salary range $44.57 to $57.19 hourly with Excellent Benefits
    • 3% Cost of Living adjustment increase effective 7/13/26
      • Generally, salary placement is at the beginning of the salary range.
      • Advanced placement may be granted depending on related education and experience.
  • Full-time regular position
  • 9/80 schedule with alternating Monday or Friday off

                         MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:   

Education/Training: 

  • Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in environmental science, biology, chemistry or a related field.

Experience:

  • Four years of responsible environmental compliance program experience including one year of administrative and/or lead supervisory experience

License or Certificate:

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license.
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Grade II Environmental Compliance Inspector certification through the California Water Environment Association (CWEA).
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Grade III Environmental Compliance Inspector certification through the California Water Environment Association (CWEA) is desirable.

                                IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The Ideal Candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with major course work in environmental science, biology, chemistry, or a related field, such as water resource management.
  • A broad understanding of environmental regulations, including water conservation and efficiency, storm water, waste water pretreatment, solid waste and recycling, and hazardous materials/waste.
  • Four years of environmental compliance program, permitting, and reporting experience, including administrative and/or lead supervisory experience.
  • Defining characteristics such as dependability, hardworking, a positive attitude, and the ability to follow directions with complete transparency
  • Knowledge and ability to interpret, explain, and apply federal, state, and local, environmental and water technical policies, laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, including preparation and delivery of oral and written reports.
  • Experience responding to emergencies and implementing an effective course of action.
  • The ability to handle difficult and unusual situations with businesses, residents, and City personnel.
