Under general direction, performs work in connection with a wide variety of engineering projects related to inspections, repairs and upgrades of District bridges, buildings and other structures and facilities. May manage projects involving architectural and engineering personnel engaged in the planning, design and construction phases of District facility projects. Coordinates and implements engineering methods and policies affecting a wide range of engineering activities involved in facility inspections, repairs and upgrades of District facilities; maintains contacts with architectural and engineering consultants, governmental agencies, general public and contractors in connection with facility engineering matters; reviews engineering calculations, plans, specifications and technical papers.

Essential Responsibilities

• Prepares and leads the preparation of reports, calculations, design plans, specifications, schedules, cost estimates and other materials related to the planning, design, maintenance repairs and construction phases of District facility projects and refers them to Directing Civil Engineer for final approval
• Prepares and refers to the District Engineer or designee, contract documents and agreements for the planning, design and construction phases of District facility projects
• Oversees work of and manages contracts with professional architectural and engineering consultants, contractors, utility companies, property owners
• Confers with other departments and regulatory agencies relative to engineering District facility projects and work programs to ensure proper coordination of all related activities and responsibilities
• Makes field trips and inspections to resolve differences of opinion between engineers and contractors' representatives as they relate to facility repairs and improvements
• Conducts and attends conferences and meetings in connection with planning and design of improvement and construction projects
• Makes oral presentations
• Knows and follows the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to his or her job
• Ensures that employees under his or her supervision follow established safe work practices and obey all safety rules
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service

The Department

The Community Services Department plays a key role in enhancing the community and ensuring the citizens of Fremont receive excellent customer service through the management of recreation facilities, quality recreation and environmental programs, and park planning.

The Position

The Park Ranger/Naturalist will provide information and assistance to the public, as well as enforce laws, rules, regulations, and the Fremont Municipal Code. The primary focus of the position will be to assist with implementing the initiatives of the Homeless Task Force. Additionally, the incumbent may conduct natural resource protection and environmental education programs.

Examples of Job Duties

• Work in prescribed uniform and is responsible for general patrol and supervision of City of Fremont’s parks, plazas and trails.
• Interact and engage with unhoused populations on a daily basis, providing guidance and encouragement, enforcing laws and regulations and connecting community members with service providers.
• Perform homeless response strategies and mitigation efforts, such as posting notice to abate nuisance tags, collection on unattended property and removal of debris.
• Provide assistance and act as a liaison to the public, responding to questions concerning park and recreation facilities, programs, policies, and rules and regulations.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and enforce the Fremont Municipal Code or other rules, regulations and ordinances pertaining to park operations within the City, including the issuance of citations.

San Mateo County Health's Public Health, Policy and Planning Division has exciting field-based opportunities for well-qualified and motivated Nurse Practitioners to provide both primary and urgent care to adults from vulnerable populations within our community—people experiencing homelessness and/or in shelters, monolingual Spanish speakers and other new immigrants, and those without insurance or underinsured. These services are provided through various Mobile Clinic modalities and venues, including but not limited to street medicine, shelter medicine, and the mobile coach. We are looking for collaborative Nurse Practitioners to work in and lead various multidisciplinary service teams in the field to provide comprehensive, low-threshold, client-centered care and engagement.

Teams are staffed by a Nurse Practitioner (NP), Psychiatrist, Medical Services Assistant, AOD Case Manager, and Patient Services Assistants. These teams work closely with our community partners from the Human Services Agency and community-based organizations who locate and identify clients needing medical and/or mental health services, as well as provide additional health, housing, and social services in the field.

Under general supervision, Nurse Practitioners provide urgent care and primary health care services such as physical examinations, chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes and hypertension), and referrals/linkages to specialty clinics as appropriate.

Currently, Public Health Clinics has one full-time, regular, 40-hour-per-week vacancy for a bilingual Spanish Nurse Practitioner and two 40-hour-per-week, Limited-Term Nurse Practitioner vacancies, requiring flexible schedules and field-based work at different locations. Sixty-five percent of the NP’s time will be in the field, with the remainder spent in the office documenting notes, placing orders, and coordinating with other staff as needed.

Examples of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide low-threshold, comprehensive care for San Mateo County’s most marginalized and vulnerable populations, including people experiencing homelessness, those in shelters, migrant and immigrant farmworkers, the recently incarcerated, the uninsured, and those with financial challenges.

• Provide comprehensive and urgent care in a variety of non-traditional settings, including homeless encampments, outdoor locations, shelters, and a mobile RV clinic.

• Demonstrate the ability to work closely and collaboratively with a small team in often challenging environments (e.g., homeless encampments, shelters, extreme weather, individuals under the influence, or those with mental health challenges).

• Take stewardship of medical care for assigned geographic populations and/or shelters.

• Outreach to and build long-term, trust-based relationships with vulnerable populations.

• Assess patients’ physical, emotional, and social status through medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic screenings; evaluate clinical findings and lab results.

• Identify and manage common illnesses and other health problems.

• Refer urgent issues beyond scope to appropriate specialists.

• Deliver longitudinal care in assigned areas.

• Collaborate with other health professionals following protocols for diagnosis and treatment.

• Build relationships with community partners to improve health outcomes and expand services.

• Counsel families regarding health maintenance and care.

• Coordinate referrals to other health or social agencies.

• Maintain accurate records of assessments, follow-ups, and evaluations.

• Supervise subordinate health workers and participate in meetings.

• Actively participate in quality improvement efforts.

• Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.

• Education: Completion of an advanced nursing degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), with emphasis in a Nurse Practitioner specialty area.

• Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of paid experience in an acute and/or ambulatory care setting.

Licensure

The Department

The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships; engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem-solving; and leveraging financial and volunteer resources.

The Position

The Multipurpose Senior Service Program (MSSP) Case Manager will perform professional and clinical social work tasks and duties for older adults living with complex medical conditions to assist them to obtain optimum health, financial, and/or social services. As a member of the Human Services Department, this position reports to a Clinical Supervisor in the Aging and Family Services Division.

This is a regular, part-time position (32 hours/week) and will receive pro-rated benefits.

The San Mateo County Attorney's Office is seeking candidates for the 2026 Michael P. Murphy Public Law Fellowship.

In 2014, the County of San Mateo established a Fellowship position in honor of former San Mateo County Counsel Michael P. Murphy. Mr. Murphy served in the County Counsel’s office from 1982 to 2011, the last four years as County Counsel. Vacancies in Bay Area county counsel offices typically attract many qualified applicants and new attorneys are generally not considered for these positions. This Fellowship provides an opportunity for new attorneys to receive training and experience in advising and litigating on behalf of government agencies as they begin their legal careers.

Attorneys in the San Mateo County Attorney’s Office (previously known as the County Counsel’s Office) are generalists. We provide legal advice to County departments, school districts, and special districts; litigate civil cases in State and Federal courts and before administrative agencies; and manage calendar assignments in Dependency, Probate, Lanterman Petris Short Act, and other specialized areas of law. ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Deputy Director will oversee department-wide administrative operations and strategic initiatives including organizational planning, program performance, budget development, financial accounting, procurement, contracting, human resources, recruitment, and other administrative functions. This role will supervise three staff members in the Operations Division and closely collaborate with other staff to achieve the Commission’s strategic goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Essential duties of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Establish and implement departmental goals, policies, and strategic plans as directed by the Executive Director.

Electricians are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in and around County buildings. Construction Services offers specialized crafts services that go beyond routine maintenance provided by the Facilities Operations and Maintenance section. Our skilled team, including craftsmen, maintenance workers, utility workers, and office support staff, handles diverse tasks from remodels to new construction projects. • Eight or more years of experience performing Journey-level facilities maintenance electrical work.
• A Journeyman's Electrician Card (certificate).

The ideal CPS candidate will have the ability to:

• Provide excellent customer service to a diverse community of all ages in a busy public library.
• Design, adapt, and deliver innovative services that benefit the needs of the community.
• Identify and implement research-based methods, practices, techniques, and pedagogy that help learners succeed.
• Maintain and develop inclusive programs that support learners, including but not limited to English as a Second Language (ESL) learners.
• Plan, schedule, coordinate, and carry out programming, workshops, and classes.
• Coordinate and participate in outreach activities to community groups and agencies, ranging from tabling to public speaking.
• Collect and maintain program records and statistics and create reports, as needed.
• Assist in the recruitment, training, and management of volunteers.

Work frequent evenings and weekends.

In addition to the above, the ideal CTS candidate will have the ability to:

• Guide patrons in learning by doing, teach groups and individuals with a wide variety of tech experience and learning styles.
• Plan, schedule, coordinate, and carry out technology, maker, and STEM-related workshops and events to patrons of all age groups in the library and at school visits, fairs, and other outreach activities to community groups and agencies.
• Train coworkers in new technologies and support peers as an IT mentor and guide.
• Support the successful deployment of new technologies to the public and recommend and provide feedback on the implementation of new technologies.
• Have familiarity with makerspaces and makerspace technology including: 3-D printers, laser printers, vinyl cutters, and design software.
• Assist in the creation of technical documentation and procedures as needed.
• Have experience working with Windows and Mac OS, and mobile devices.

Your Role
Appointed by the Board of Retirement, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) leads the management and administration of the retirement system in alignment with Board direction, policy, and goals. The CEO provides high-level administrative support to the Board and oversees a staff of 22. This role is key to developing investment and benefits policy, coordinating member services, and driving long-term strategies to meet SamCERA’s mission.
