The Public Works Department is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Street Maintenance Worker I/II for the Street division. Depending on the candidate's qualifications, the vacancy will be filled at either Street Maintenance Worker Level 1 or Level 2. The successful candidate will work at the City’s Municipal Service Center in the Newbury Park area of Thousand Oaks.

Primary responsibilities:

• Breaks and removes concrete using a hydraulic breaker and handwork
• Repair or replace cracked, raised, sunken, or otherwise damaged sidewalks, curbs, and gutters
• Perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the construction, maintenance, repair, and cleaning of streets, curbs, gutters, storm drains, and related structures
• Perform heavy manual labor in the removal, repair, and finish of concrete and asphalt work
• Operate and maintain a variety of maintenance and construction equipment, including hand and power tools, and light, medium, and heavy motorized equipment
• Conduct traffic control when working in traffic areas of the City; install street barricades and cones; direct and control traffic around work sites
• Maintain records of work performed

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a driven, detail-oriented Accounting/Customer Service Representative to join the Public Services Division within the Finance Department. This role will serve as a key liaison between the community and the City's revenue operations, managing a high volume of payments and customer inquiries, supporting diverse revenue programs, and adapting to evolving priorities. With ample cross-training and collaboration opportunities across the City, this position offers professional growth and the chance to make a tangible impact on the delivery of essential City services.

Primary Responsibilities

• Utility Billing & Collections: Prepare and adjust water and wastewater bills, resolve customer inquiries, and set up payment arrangements to maintain uninterrupted service. When accounts become delinquent, coordinate lien filings and work with customers and field crews to clear balances and restore service.
• Business Tax: Oversee the full life cycle of business license applications and renewals, from initial customer service to intake and fee collection, to compliance verification, and final issuance. Coordinate with Planning, Building, Code Enforcement, and Thousand Oaks Police Department to resolve discrepancies, update records, and provide guidance on licensing requirements.
• Payment Processing & Cashiering: Process payments for all revenue programs, both at the front counter and within a centralized unit, and reconcile daily cash receipts. Balance cash drawers, prepare bank deposits, and validate transactions against the general ledger.

• Interdepartmental Collaboration: Collaborate with field technicians, IT, Thousand Oaks Police Department, and other departments to resolve billing and payment issues, identify process improvements, and share best practices. Cross-train on multiple revenue streams to enhance team agility and service coverage.
• Administrative Support: Administer specialized billing programs, including parking citations for false alarm, from initiation through resolution, ensuring accuracy, analytics, and compliance.

This critical role involves handling emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching officers to service calls, and operating advanced communication equipment, including radios, telephones, and computer systems. Work Schedule: This position follows a 4/10 varied work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with rotations every four months.

Our Minimum Qualifications for consideration are:

Education:  Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in communications or a related field is desirable. 

Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible communications or dispatch experience; or two years of law enforcement support experience utilizing one or more of the following systems:

• California Law Enforcement Telecommunications Systems (CLETS)
• Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD)
• National Crime Information Center (NCIC)
• Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) 

License/Certificates: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Peace Officer’s Standards and Training (POST) Basic Public Safety Dispatcher Certificate within one year of employment.

Special Requirements: Must be 18 years of age as of the date of hire; a United States citizen or meet citizenship requirements; and be of good moral character with no felony convictions.

The Public Works Maintenance Superintendent (Streets) is a management-level role within the Maintenance Division of the Public Works Department. The City is interviewing to fill several openings for part-time positions.  Apply immediately to be considered.  Regular assignment and substitute (on-call) positions are available.  Hours for the 24-25 school year are typically 1-1.5 hours in the morning and 1-1.5 hours in the afternoon depending on the school location and schedule.

Primary responsibilities:

• Monitor and assist in crossing of school-age children during peak traffic times at select locations.
• Provide appropriate safety instruction for children crossing streets and intersections.
• Watch traffic flow and wait for an appropriate gap between vehicles to lead groups of school children safely across a street.
