The Organization 

Incorporated in 1927, Menlo Park is a general Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. The City Council is the City’s five-member governing body whose members are elected by district for four-year overlapping terms in general municipal elections. The Mayor and Vice Mayor each serve one-year terms and are selected annually by the City Council. The City Council appoints the City Manager and City Attorney as well as members of the Planning Commission and numerous advisory boards. The City Manager appoints all executive and management level positions. City staff report to one of six departments: Administrative Services, City Manager’s Office, Community Development, Library and Community Services, Police, and Public Works, which includes Menlo Park Municipal Water. Fire protection and sanitary services are provided by separate special districts. The City is supported by 296 FTE and has over 55 funds with a total expenditure budget over $216 million. As evidence of the City’s sound financial stewardship and solid financial standing, Menlo Park consistently maintains an AAA bond rating, in large part due to its healthy reserves and strong revenue base. In addition to its many attributes, Menlo Park has one of the most beautiful civic center campuses in the Bay Area. Heritage trees, a running fountain and a duck pond surround City Hall. The Department

This position falls within the City Manager’s Office, which, under the direction of the City Manager, has responsibility for staff organizational management, personnel appointment, preparation and execution of the City budget, as well as administration of city ordinances and policies adopted by the City Council. The City Manager's Office provides administrative support to the City Council and advisory commissions, in addition to working closely with the City Attorney's Office. The Department

The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships; engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem-solving; and leveraging financial and volunteer resources.

The Position

The Multipurpose Senior Service Program (MSSP) Case Manager will perform professional and clinical social work tasks and duties for older adults living with complex medical conditions to assist them to obtain optimum health, financial, and/or social services. As a member of the Human Services Department, this position reports to a Clinical Supervisor in the Aging and Family Services Division.

This is a regular, part-time position (32 hours/week) and will receive pro-rated benefits.

Examples of Job Duties

• Manage a caseload of 28-32 clients comprised of older individuals with complex medical conditions.
• Conduct comprehensive client assessments and develop and monitor service plan.
• Collaborate with team members, Human Services programs, and community agencies.
• Conduct home visits and provide other community interventions.
• Conduct inter-agency and/or family conferences.
• Advocate for clients in accessing services.

THE POSITION
To perform a variety of tasks in the maintenance of City-owned buildings, equipment and facilities.

The purpose of this recruitment is to hire a Temporary / Part-Time position. Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications for the Facility Maintenance Worker I position may be considered for employment as an Intern. Temporary / Part-Time employees work no more than 130 hours per month AND 960 hours per fiscal year. Typical work schedule will be three 8-hour shifts per week, excluding weekends and evenings.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
This position will perform semi-skilled tasks in a variety of light construction and maintenance activities. The Ideal Candidate will be customer-friendly and be a solutions-oriented professional who is flexible in dealing with shifting priorities, have good time management skills, and possess the ability to work effectively in the absence of supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintain and repair City buildings, equipment and facilities by performing a variety of semiskilled carpentry, plumbing,  painting, heating/air conditioning, mechanical repair and electrical work as necessary. Inspect City buildings to locate conditions indicating the need for repairs and maintenance; assist in establishing and implementing preventative maintenance programs. Operate and maintain a variety of heavy tools and equipment, including small power and hand tools. Work cooperatively with others. Regular and consistent attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Remodel and repair a variety of building components such as counters, tables, desks, bookshelves, cabinets, partitions, walls, windows and doors; boilers, water pumps, exhaust fans, compressors, and other water and sewage system plumbing as required. Perform electrical work such as wiring and rewiring; replace switches, ballast and receptacles as required. Prepare simple activity and related reports; maintain inventory and work records as required. Requisition supplies and materials. Perform general janitorial duties as needed. Perform other facility maintenance duties as assigned.

Silicon Valley Power, Asset Management Group has an excellent opportunity for the position of Senior Engineering Technician. Job responsibilities include, preparing scaled and dimensioned plans based on sketches prepared by engineering and/or estimating personnel, maintaining records of as-builts and updating existing SVP maps and records utilizing ESRI-based GIS applications, maintaining master map files, including such records of block maps, street light maps, fiber communication, electric utility single line and operating diagrams and other maps, performing computing and drafting operations in AutoCAD, involvement in checking drawings of electric utility facilities, and performing other duties as assigned. 

Water and Sewer Utilities

The Water and Sewer Utilities Department is looking for a Senior Engineering Technician who desires to become a Water and Sewer Utility professional and support a talented group of engineers, administrative staff and utility operators with the sole aim of delivering safe, reliable utility services and excellent customer service to the community of Santa Clara. The Senior Engineering Technician will prepare exhibits, update CAD files, access and update asset management software, update spreadsheets and project folders, perform site visits, perform field measurements, perform research tasks, support the water sampling program, support plan checks, prepare construction documents, perform field inspections, update block books and communicate with customers, contractors, consultants, engineers, inspectors, and operators. 

The ideal candidate should be proficient in AutoCAD, the Microsoft Office Suite, working with PDF formats, navigating folder directories, and communicating effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders. Any experience, skills or certification related to the water, recycled water, sewer or general civil engineering industry is desired.

Department of Public Works

The City of Santa Clara's Department of Public Works seeks a results-oriented and innovative individual to serve out the Department's mission to provide the highest quality public works services to the residents of Santa Clara, the development community, and our customers in a responsible and efficient manner. The Department has focus areas that include Engineering Services and Operations and Maintenance. Engineering Services is comprised of four engineering divisions: 1) Design, 2) Field Services, Land and Property Development, and Traffic Engineering as listed below. Currently, the Field Services Division of the Department of Public Works (DPW) is looking for individuals for the position of Senior Engineering Technician.  This position will provide support to the Field Services division through updates to the Geographic Information System (GIS) system, AutoCAD, and miscellaneous databases.  This position will coordinate internally with various DPW staff to maintain system records and support their needs to successfully complete their projects on time.

The ideal candidate should have experience using and editing AutoCAD software. The Senior Engineering Technician will assist the City Surveyor with topographic, monument, and benchmark surveys conducted in the field. Additionally, the technician will help restore missing or damaged monuments and benchmarks and perform administrative tasks such as filing permits, updating block books, conducting research, and carrying out field inspections and investigations. Employees in this role are expected to be fully trained in all procedures related to their assigned responsibilities. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Chief of Party, a Professional Engineer, or a Principal Engineering Technician, who assigns tasks and reviews work to ensure compliance with instructions and established engineering standards.

The Design Division manages capital improvement planning and programming related to pavement management, storm drain facilities, and sanitary sewer systems. Additionally, the division provides capital project delivery services for a variety of City projects including transportation, roadways, pedestrian and bicycle, storm drains, sanitary sewers, buildings, libraries, and parks to implement the City’s capital improvement program. The division also coordinates with the Federal Emergency Management Agency on the City’s Community Rating System (CRS) program to maintain the City’s Class 7 rating. 

The Field Services Division provides construction management, construction inspection, materials testing, and surveying for capital improvement projects such as pavement rehabilitation, traffic signals, storm and sanitary sewers, parks, building improvements and other public improvements.  The Field Services Division also provides construction inspection and coordination for developer/private construction of public improvements within the City’s right-of-way. 

The Land & Property Development Division is responsible for providing efficient and effective engineering services to support private development projects during the entitlement, design, and construction phases. The division works closely with customers, developers, utility companies and the community to ensure projects comply with local, state and federal standards. The division is also responsible for reviewing and approving encroachment permits, easements, street/easement abandonments, subdivision maps, processing encroachment agreements, collecting development-related fees, and collaborating with other Public Works divisions, as well as other City departments throughout all project phases. Additionally, the division provides customer counter services to the general public as the City’s permit center.

The Traffic Engineering Division provides traffic engineering, traffic impact analysis reviews, bicycle and pedestrian improvement planning, grant administration, and traffic signal maintenance and operation services for the City. The division also investigates resident/business inquiries related to street parking, traffic calming, intersection control, and bicycling and pedestrian travel on public streets. Finally, this division coordinates with other agencies such as the Valley Transportation Authority, County of Santa Clara Roads and Airports, Caltrans, and the cities of San Jose, Cupertino, and Sunnyvale related to projects, programs, and grant opportunities. 

This position may be filled within various divisions of the Public Works, Water & Sewer Utilities, or Electric Utility Departments not included in this listing.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Graduation from high school or tested equivalent; and
• Two (2) years of full-time paraprofessional engineering experience at a level equivalent to City of Santa Clara Engineering Technician including at least one (1) year working with Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and/or Geographic Information System (GIS) tools and software.

ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTION
Possession of an Associate’s degree or higher OR minor in engineering or GIS may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

About Detention Services & Yuba County:

Our Department believes people can change and we can be instrumental in supporting that change.  We are  a small workplace family that supports one another to accomplish our mission and allow our team members to live full lives outside the workplace. Our Campus provides youth detention services to the communities of Yuba, Sutter, and Colusa Counties as well as several contract counties through our Camp Singer program.  We operate 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, and includes the Tri-County Juvenile Hall, Secure Housing Unit, and Maxine Singer Youth Guidance Center (Camp Singer), under a Joint Powers Agreement between the three counties. The City of Sebastopol is looking for a respectful, compassionate, empathetic Police Officer Trainee. The selected candidate must be currently enrolled or enrolled at a future date as a self-sponsored recruit in a certified Peace Officer Standards & Training Council (P.O.S.T.) Police Academy. The Police Officer Trainee is a non-sworn, training-level classification requiring no prior law enforcement experience. The incumbent performs a variety of entry-level police support duties in a learning capacity. The selected candidate will assist and observe Police Officers and civilian police personnel.

The successful candidate will attend the Police Academy to obtain a Basic P.O.S.T. Certificate of Completion, and perform related work which may require public contact but not the enforcement of laws. Police Officer Trainees attend a POST certified Police Academy, which follows a standardized curriculum in order to provide them with basic training in various aspects of policing, many of which are prescribed by law and/or statute.

The Police Academy training is designed to provide the candidate the necessary skillsets to prepare them for consideration for promotion to a probationary Police Officer position within the City and begin the Sebastopol Police Department’s Field Training Officer program. Attendance and successful completion of a Police Academy is a legal requirement to be hired as a Police Officer within the State of California and is a requirement for a City of Sebastopol Police Officer Trainee to be considered for promotion to probationary Police Officer with the City of Sebastopol.

The selected self-sponsored academy candidates will receive a conditional offer upon a qualified application and full hourly pay while attending the police academy. 

The City will hire at the Police Officer Trainee or Police Officer rank, depending on the qualifications held by the pool of qualified applicants. Please see our concurrent Police Officer recruitment for more information.

The Police Officer Trainee will demonstrate cultural competency working with all community members regardless of cultural differences or circumstances, including race, ethnicity, religion, language, gender identity, age, marital and familial status, sexual orientation, diverse physical and learning abilities, socioeconomic status, and other identities.

Details:

• Part-time regular position, must be willing to work varied hours including operational holidays, Saturdays, early morning hours (from 4:30 a.m.), and/or evenings (until 8:30 p.m.)
• Pay ranges from $23.42 - $29.93 hourly with Excellent Benefits (see below)

Minimum Qualifications for consideration: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade

Experience: One year of experience in the operation of a transit vehicle.

License or Certificate: Possession of an appropriate, valid commercial driver’s license with passenger endorsement. Possession of a valid Medical Examination Certification. Possession of, or ability to obtain within the initial training period, a Verification of Transit Training certificate.
