THE POSITION:  The City of San Mateo’s Human Resources Department has an opportunity for an intern to work on a number of projects. The Department is responsible for programs in recruitment and selection, classification and position control, labor and employee relations, employee training and development, workforce planning, salary and benefit administration, and employment related policies.  The HR Analyst Intern will receive supervision from the Sr. HR Analyst primarily responsible for each specific project. The duration and start dates of the internship are flexible.

DUTIES: The primary projects will most likely include the following:

• Employee Development and Workforce Planning: help with internal documentation, systems and tracking for training participation; assist with the transition to a new LMS system, assist in the design, coordination, and evaluation of learning and development programs to enhance employee skills and career growth.
• Classification and Position Control: Assist in updating and maintaining the position control database, track position vacancies and changes, assist in reviewing and organizing job descriptions, assist in compiling data for reclassification requests, assist in compiling data for compensation analysis, support in the preparation of classification related documents.
• Recruitment: Assist in sourcing candidates through various job boards, assist in updating and maintaining recruitment log, assist in the preparation of oral board materials and logistics for in-person oral board interviews, maintain recruitment files – close out interview materials once a recruitment has been completed
• Employee and Labor Relations: Review applicable MOUs, side letters, policies & procedures to determine and identify applicable provisions which may apply to specific departmental inquiries.  Provide recommendations based on research and data analysis, assist in tracking MOU compliance items, help organize trainings related to employee relations.
• Employee Services and Benefits: Assist in processing of benefit enrollments and changes, respond to basic employee inquiries about benefit offerings, assist with benefit offerings communication to City employees, assist with gathering documentation or follow-up as needed, assist with internal tracking and reporting.

In addition, the intern may work on a variety of other projects depending upon their time and interests.

THE SAN RAFAEL SANITATION DISTRICT

The San Rafael Sanitation District (SRSD) is committed to protecting public health and the environment by providing safe, reliable, and cost-effective wastewater collection and conveyance services.  Serving residents and businesses in the San Rafael area, the District maintains and improves vital sewer infrastructure including pipelines, pump stations, and treatment connections to support a clean and sustainable community.  

As a sewer collection agency, the District maintains 33 pump stations, 13 miles of force main, and 132 miles of gravity sewer pipeline.  Each y ear the District replaces over 2.5 miles of gravity sewer as part of the annual CIP project.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The San Rafael Sanitation District is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Construction Inspector to help ensure the quality and safety of our vital sewer infrastructure. As a Construction Inspector, you'll perform field inspections on sewer system projects including pipelines, pump stations, and other capital improvements to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and District regulations.

• Performs field inspection of contract work and ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and enforcement of SRSD regulations on various sewer facilities projects such as, but not limited to, construction and rehabilitation of sewer pipe improvements, pumping stations, and other maintenance and capital improvement projects.
• Performs construction related inspection, which includes installation and compaction of pipe, erosion, checking construction work against specifications and drawings, monitoring traffic flow, and checking existing facilities.
• Reviews drawings, maps, plans, and specifications for maintenance projects, capital improvement projects, and private projects.
• Performs field inspection of lateral connection and tests.
• Recommends field changes on construction work.
• Assists in preparation of progress payments.
• Prepares and maintains necessary records and reports.
• Performs field measurements, calculations, and sketches.
• Assists in the design of plans and specifications.
• Prepares "As Built" plans for construction activities.
• Assists in the updates and maintaining databases; performs field work in order to check discrepancies in computer data, and document existing conditions.
• Performs survey and layout for construction projects.
• Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE  

• Equivalent to AA degree with specialization in civil engineering or construction management (additional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis up to a total of two years) AND 
• Two (2) years of responsible engineering inspection or administrative construction experience is required.  Municipal sewer inspection experience is highly desirable.
• Valid California Driver's License

POLICE OFFICER - Academy Graduate - $8,134 to $11,030 per month (up to $12,684 with incentives)

Collections System Manager

The Organization

The City of Pacifica is a general law city and operates under the Council/Manager Form of Government. Legislative authority is vested in a five member City Council elected at large, one of which is appointed Mayor by the Council. The Department

The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining and repairing the City’s infrastructure and wastewater treatment operations in an efficient and cost-effective manner while providing a high level of customer service and a safe work environment for city employees. The Department maintains parks, playing fields and medians and keeps streets and trails clean and well-maintained. The Department also coordinates the tree program, cleans beaches and coordinates the City Beautification program. 

The Public Works Department is organized into three divisions including Wastewater Treatment Operations, Field Services and Engineering. The Wastewater Treatment Operations includes the operation of the wastewater treatment and water recycling treatment plant and management of the collection system. Field Services oversees the maintenance of city streets, parks, trees, vehicles and public facilities. Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• College level course work in chemistry, engineering or related field. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering, Chemistry, or related field is desirable.
• Five years of progressively responsible administrative and supervisory related experience in Wastewater Treatment at a public agency. Extensive experience in operations and maintenance of pump/lift stations highly desirable.

Licenses Required:

Must possess a valid California Class C driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record. Possession of a current Grade IV Wastewater Collections System Maintenance Certificate as issued by the California Water Environment Association is required.

THE POSITION

To monitor City facilities during programs and rentals; to open and close facilities; to set up and take down equipment; to provide information and assistance to the public in person and on the phone; to perform general administrative tasks when assigned; to perform certain custodial duties; to ensure user compliance with policies, regulations, and laws pertaining to facility use; and to perform other duties as assigned. DEFINITION

Applications are being accepted for the position of Library Clerk with the City of South San Francisco. This is a non-benefited, part-time/hourly position.

Hourly Rate: $20.92 - $25.43 per hour

Work schedule: Hours may vary. The Library is open seven days a week, sometimes until 8:00 p.m. Candidates must be willing to work evenings and weekends/holidays.

DEPARTMENT

The Library department is comprised of three service areas: The Main Library, Grand Avenue Branch, and Literacy Services at Project Read and Community Learning Center. The Library department is actively committed to providing the best possible combination of library materials and services to meet the informational, educational and recreational needs of our multicultural community, in a professional manner, with a human touch.

POSITION
Library Clerks operate out of the Main Library and may also include shifts at the Grand Avenue Branch Library. The Library Clerk will assist patrons in the library while working on a busy customer service desk.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills; can be a team leader and accept guidance from supervising staff; is highly organized; can integrate technology as a learning tool; possesses knowledge of strategies for motivating children in a creative learning process; and has experience integrating and supervising volunteers.

TYPICAL DUTIES (may include but are not limited to the following):

• Performs core service desk functions including patron registration, account management, checking in/out materials, using self-check equipment, processing payments and reserves, and responding to patron inquiries.
• Provides assistance to patrons in locating and using library materials, equipment, and technology; explains library services, policies, and procedures.
• Lifting and carrying materials (up to 35lbs.) such as books, boxes or related equipment and pushing/pulling carts for shelving returned and in-house used library materials. 
• Shelves returned and in-house used library materials.
• Troubleshoots basic issues with public computers, MakerSpace equipment, and related technology.
• Supports library staff with leading programs.
• Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: One year of experience involving customer service.

Training: High School Diploma or the equivalent
