The Superior Court of California, County of San Mateo, seeks well-qualified candidates for the position of Court Human Resources Technician.
 
The Court Human Resources Technician will perform a wide variety of technical and paraprofessional duties involved in the administration of the Court's Human Resources Division, which may include completing payroll, assisting with recruitment and selection processes, conducting periodic studies on human resources activities, and providing administrative support to higher level managerial human resources personnel.

Examples of Duties:
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Perform difficult, technical, and specialized office support work, relating specifically to payroll, human resources, and employee relations activities, which require independent judgment and the application of technical skills
• Process time reporting forms by verifying information, calculations, and specific payroll rates related to such items as holiday, overtime, and predetermined premium rates; monitor leave and compensatory time totals
• Provide paraprofessional support to staff in all phases of the Court's recruitment and selection process including; test development and administration, classification specification development, and compensation administration including conducting and responding to salary and benefit surveys
• Prepare and process personnel requisition forms for filling permanent, temporary, and extra help vacancies
• Process paperwork required for new employees, orient new employees regarding Court benefit programs, and obtain information to complete required online forms to begin benefit enrollment
• Research and assemble information from a variety of sources for the completion of forms and the preparation of reports; make arithmetic and/or statistical calculations
• Organize and maintain various files, including those related to personnel matters which may be considered confidential in nature, such as coursework taken, certifications received, beneficiary's names, leave records, and performance reviews 
• Enter and retrieve data using a personal computer system; review computer or manually produced reports for accuracy and make corrections as required 
• Prepare correspondence reports, forms, and specialized documents as needed; proofread and check material for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Court policy and procedures; respond to letters and correspondence of a routine nature
• Maintain contacts with a variety of local and regional offices to assist personnel in the scheduling of activities and in the exchange of information; maintain records and suspense files of information and tasks requested of others inside and outside the organization; monitor the status of outstanding work

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and Education:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain knowledge and abilities would be:

• Three years of increasingly responsible administrative support work with at least two years working in a human resources or personnel-related position.

 
Knowledge of:

• Principles and practices of human resources/personnel administration and management
• Federal, State, and local legislation involving human resources/personnel functions
• Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation
• Modern office methods, procedures, and equipment including office automation hardware and software; familiarity with Windows applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

License Requirement:

APPLICATION/EXAMINATION
Open & Promotional. Anyone may apply. Current Superior Court of California, County of San Mateo employees with at least six months (1040 hours) of continuous service in a classified regular, probationary, SEIU or AFSCME represented extra-help/limited term position prior to the final filing date will receive five points added to their final passing score on this examination.

Important Information About the Examination Process
The examination process will consist of the steps detailed below. 

1. Initial review of application materials.  At this step applicants submitting incomplete applications, lacking relevant qualifications and/or not following instructions will be disqualified. Applicants who pass the initial review will be further evaluated for relevant training and experience. 
2. An auto-scored evaluation of relevant training and experience (T&E) (weight: pass/fail) that is based solely on the applicants' responses to the multiple-choice supplemental questions. The application materials of those applicants who receive a passing score on the T&E evaluation will be further evaluated by a panel of subject matter experts (SME).
3. Application screening (weight: pass/fail). Subject matter experts will be assessing relevance of applicants' training and experience to the needs of the position being filled as well as writing skills. This assessment is based on relevant work history and background as listed on the application, responses to the supplemental questions, and overall presentation. The assessors will select those applicants whose education and experience most closely match the current needs of the department. Because of this process, not all applicants are guaranteed advancement through the exam process. Applicants who pass this screening will be invited to take the online/computer-based exam.
4. Online/Computer-Based Exam (weight: pass/fail) Applicants who pass the computer-based exam will be invited to a panel interview
5. Panel interview (weight: 100%) Applicants who pass the interview will be placed on an eligible list that will be used to fill the current vacancy and potentially used to fill future vacancies.

Depending on the number of applicants, an application appraisal of education and experience may be used in place of other examinations, or further evaluation of work experience may be conducted to group applicants by level of qualification. The City of Pacifica is a beautiful coastal community, just south of San Francisco. Currently, the City Manager’s Office has an opening for a customer service oriented, human resources professional to join our team as the Human Resources Manager.

THE POSITION

The Human Resources Manager, an at-will position, under general direction of the Assistant City Manager, recommends, develops, implements and evaluates goals, objectives, policies and procedures related to assigned human resource program functions, such as benefits, classification and compensation, recruitment and selection, among others. Consults and collaborates with City departments, employees, labor organizations, commissions, advisory boards and the public on relevant aspects of assigned program area. This is a management classification located in the City’s central Human Resources Division with overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations, which has Citywide impact. • Interview, select, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate program staff.

San Mateo Medical Center is the hidden jewel of San Mateo County. We are a fully-accredited 509-bed acute care hospital whose commitment lies in supporting the healthcare needs of the County's diverse cultures.

As an Echocardiographer, you will be assigned to the Radiology Division where you will perform various patient-related tasks in addition to image acquisition.

Under direct supervision of licensed staff, Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs) perform a variety of patient care and other services required to treat patients in a health services outpatient or mobile clinic.

The ideal candidate will have experience in an Ambulatory Care Clinic and documenting in an Electronic Medical Record. Knowledge of working in Care Teams and Patient Centered Medical Home terminology is preferred, but not required.
 

Medical Services Assistants II who are assigned to the clinics and perform advanced patient care duties as defined in the classification specification shall receive a differential of 6.2% in addition to all other compensation.

NOTE: For Extra Help positions - Extra-help positions are short-term employment for up to 1040 hours which is equivalent to about six months; however, employment might end sooner depending on the needs of the hiring departments. Lifeguard Job Responsibilities:

• The primary responsibility of a lifeguard is to protect lives by using his or her skills to prevent injury among patrons.  This duty does not only include rescuing drowning victims or administering CPR and first aid.  Being alert and proactive also helps to prevent dangerous situations from ever occurring in the first place.
• Enforcing the rules fairly and consistently is a close second major duty and could even be considered to be a part of patron surveillance.  Help the patrons to keep themselves safe by monitoring and putting an end to dangerous behaviors.  These can include running on slippery surfaces or roughhousing around the pool area.
• Maintenance and cleaning tasks are also part of the lifeguard duties.  These can include monitoring chemical levels in the pool, picking up trash and organizing equipment, or inspecting the facility for unsafe conditions.
   

Swim Instructor Job Responsibilities:

• The swim instructor is responsible for instructing all swim lesson participants.
• This position is also responsible for the safety of the participant in their own class.
• Work hours as scheduled which includes beginning and ending class on time; remaining after class to answer participant and/or parent questions as needed and clean up supplies.
• Instructs and evaluates students participating in swim lessons.
• Submits completed report cards, skills sheets, and attendance information on time.

Under general direction, performs complex and responsible technical and clerical work for the Director of Human Resources in the administration of the City's Human Resources program. Completes related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

An incumbent in this position is a Human Resources generalist performing a wide range of personnel assignments in administering and processing health and welfare benefits; managing the administrative duties associated with the Personnel Board and overseeing the preparation and management of all employee requisition and action forms; managing the office and providing administrative support to the Director of Human Resources, Senior Management Analyst and the Human Resources Analysts. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Maintains frequent, sensitive and critical contacts with public and private agencies, other departments, professionals and officials; transmits information, decisions and directives. Answers inquiries by phone or mail; investigates and resolves complaints or provides information, explains departmental or City procedures; exercises judgment in giving information and proper disposition of problems; composes correspondence and prepares reports. Maintains employees' personnel records and departmental records; provides information to employees regarding benefits. Screens telephone calls and visitors; receives, screens and routes incoming mail for appropriate action and follows up on its disposition; arranges for meetings and conferences and assists in providing material on information to be discussed. Interprets and apply rules and regulations of the classified service. Keeps abreast of pertinent information and changes in City procedures and regulations.

Prepares and signs inter-office memoranda and requisition forms; elicits employee evaluation forms for all departments by preparing and transmitting initial forms. Manages performance appraisal forms for distribution in accordance with established procedures. Serves as Secretary for the Personnel Board, other related meetings, and disciplinary and appeal hearings by collecting, preparing, and sending agendas, taking and transcribing minutes, and typing and distributing minutes and other material. Manages distribution of performance appraisals schedule and retiree health reimbursement checks. Administers Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Program, tracks employee driving records and issues quarterly department list of commercial drivers’ medical expirations.  May assist in responding to internal and external surveys. May assist department personnel with data entry on applicant tracking program, proctoring Civil Service examinations, and in administering certification of active Civil Service Employment Lists using computerized applicant tracking program.

Provides support to the Senior Management Analyst and Human Resources Analysts. Administers the documentation requirements of the 1986 Immigration and Control Act. Prepares and processes required Human Resources’ forms, such as new employee forms and employee Action Forms. Assists with preparation and publication of the employee newsletter. Maintains and orders office supplies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: Appropriate English grammar and spelling; current office equipment and methods including operation of computer programs, including advanced, competent use of Microsoft Word; record keeping and organizational practices; basic arithmetic; and certain federal, state and municipal personnel regulations.

Ability to: Communicates effectively both orally and in writing; speaks to and direct large groups; Interacts positively and cooperate with co-workers, responds politely to customers, works as a team member, functions under demanding time pressure, responds in a positive manner to supervision, attends work and perform duties on a regular and consistent basis. Understands and applies instructions, rules, regulations and policies including the City’s Rules and Regulations of the Classified Service; analyzes, processes and schedules detailed work accurately; learns, understands, and communicates employee benefit parameters and regulations, learns and uses all Microsoft Office Suite applications, Human Resources Information System (HRIS), applicant tracking system and other City software programs. Transcribes proceedings at meetings of commissions, boards or special committees; exercises good judgment in matters of a confidential nature; works independently in absence of supervision.

Experience: Two years of experience in responsible administrative and human resources technical work that involved regular contact with the public. 

Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent and an AA degree.

Licenses or Certificates: Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License.
