About the Position:  The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) Seasonal Ranger Aide is an entry-level position, which provides the opportunity to learn and perform some duties of a ranger under the guidance of experienced ranger staff. Ranger Aides provide visitor information and assistance, travelling by non-emergency Midpen vehicles and on foot throughout an assigned geographical region. Ranger Aides perform a variety of customer service duties such as educating and informing the public about Midpen land use regulations, public relations and provide general information services, but do not have law enforcement authority.  Ranger Aides will assist with routine maintenance work on Midpen land and facilities and may respond to assist with emergency calls. Seasonal employees are provided with a uniform.  The start date will be in early/mid-July and the selected individuals will continue working through February 2026.   See Job Description for additional information.

Requirements: Must have the ability to  learn Midpen lands, pertinent laws and regulations and contact, educate and inform the public about the lands and regulations ; administer first aid and CPR; operate and maintain various power tools and equipment; operate two-way radios; communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; and other duties as assigned.

Certificates Needed: A valid California driver license is required upon appointment; valid professional rescuer CPR certificate and basic First Aid certificate (Midpen will offer training to candidates who do not possess CPR/First Aid certificates upon appointment).

Education & Experience: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to graduation from high school. Six months experience working in a customer service related field.  Some experience or training in a parks settings is desirable.

Schedules:  This is a full-time position. Employees are expected to work full-time (40 hours during the work week); however, school schedules may be accommodated around regular days/hours of operations.  Weekend work (Sat/Sun) is required, with two consistent days off each week (Thursdays/Fridays off).  Incumbents will work an 8-hour workday (plus a 30-minute unpaid meal break). Daily start and end times will be the same for most workdays, typically scheduled within the range of 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Must be willing to work weekends, nights, holidays, or extended shifts and work with exposure to difficult circumstances, including exposure to challenging situations and upset individuals. Seasonal assignments will not exceed 950 hours or 7 months, whichever comes first, and do not include benefits.

Working Conditions: Most work is outdoors within Midpen’s open space lands with exposure to inclement weather conditions. This requires the ability to patrol on foot, off trail, and in rugged terrain.  Also requires the ability to perform related emergency services and maintenance and construction work on Midpen lands. Once trained, Ranger Aides may work alone for parts or all of their shifts. Must wear prescribed District uniform and adhere to strict safety procedures and work habits.

The Department

The Community Services Department plays a key role in enhancing the community and ensuring the citizens of Fremont receive excellent customer service through the management of recreation facilities, quality recreation and environmental programs, and park planning.

The Position

The Park Ranger/Naturalist will provide information and assistance to the public, as well as enforce laws, rules, regulations, and the Fremont Municipal Code. The primary focus of the position will be to assist with implementing the initiatives of the Homeless Task Force. Additionally, the incumbent may conduct natural resource protection and environmental education programs.

Examples of Job Duties

• Work in prescribed uniform and is responsible for general patrol and supervision of City of Fremont’s parks, plazas and trails.
• Interact and engage with unhoused populations on a daily basis, providing guidance and encouragement, enforcing laws and regulations and connecting community members with service providers.
• Perform homeless response strategies and mitigation efforts, such as posting notice to abate nuisance tags, collection on unattended property and removal of debris.
• Provide assistance and act as a liaison to the public, responding to questions concerning park and recreation facilities, programs, policies, and rules and regulations.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and enforce the Fremont Municipal Code or other rules, regulations and ordinances pertaining to park operations within the City, including the issuance of citations.

The City of Menlo Park is currently accepting applications for Child Care Teacher I/II.   

These positions are part-time (20 hours a week) and provide a flexible work schedule. We are looking for candidates that enjoy teaching & working with preschool and school aged children. The working hours are Monday through Friday.

A Dance Instructor (Program Specialist) will plan, prepare and instruct recreation activities. Activities may include art, cooking, dance, pre-school program and other program areas. Programs are designed for children ages 4-17 (primarily 5-12) years of age.

Dance programs may include ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, ballroom, folkloric, salsa, and rhythmic international styles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age
• Different program areas will have different skills and knowledge requirements for the position; check with Recreation Supervisor. (For example: 6 ECE unites required for pre-school instructor)
• One school year teaching experience
• At least one year's experience working with children in an academic setting
• Must be willing and able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required

Village Park Preschool Program

Village Park Preschool is a play-based preschool program offered by the City of Burlingame Parks and Recreation Department. We offer 5 programs: Lil’ Sprouts (2 year olds), Cottage Kids (3 year olds), Playschool Villagers (3 year olds), Afternoon Owls (3 year olds), and Camp Treehouse (3-4 year olds).  The emphasis of the program is physical, social, and emotional growth in a child-centered environment. Activities are designed to foster a healthy child that develops an early love of learning. Definition: Preschool Site Coordinator

The City of Burlingame is looking for an enthusiastic, organized, creative, and responsible Preschool Site Coordinator. Under direction of a Recreation Supervisor, the Preschool Site Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Village Park Preschool ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children. This role involves managing staff, coordinating programs, communicating with parents, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties

• Program Oversite
  • Coordinate with teachers and staff to ensure lesson plans, schedules, and classroom activities align with educational standards and goals.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of programs and make adjustments as needed to meet the needs of children and families.
  • Manage supply lists and shop for required materials.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
  • Lead a variety of activities including, but not limited to, arts and crafts, organized games, story time, music/singing activities, science, cooking, early writing skills, and interactive circle time.
  • Develop and plan activities for preschool summer camp

  • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and professional development opportunities to staff to enhance their skills and performance.

• Parent Communication

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Tiny Tots Instructor will teach assigned classes of pre-school children ranging in ages from 18 months to 5 years old in enrichment, recreational and educational based programming (Tiny Tots Aide will assist).
