We are seeking a conscientious, organized, and detail-oriented Laboratory Chemist to perform a variety of biological, physical, and chemical analysis on wastewater, receiving waters, potable water, and biosolids. The Laboratory Chemist will perform analyses to evaluate operating conditions of the treatment facility, assure compliance with facility’s NPDES permit, and satisfy State of California drinking water requirements. This is a journey-level position where Chemist is expected to be experienced and fully qualified to be able to perform assigned duties with minimal supervision.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Collects, preserves, and prepares plant samples for laboratory analysis, performs sample analysis, reviews data, and reports results.
• Performs bacteriological tests on potable water and wastewater to assure safety and regulatory compliance. Organizes and/or participates on special projects and analyses as needed.
• Understands and interprets data obtained from tests, including whether or not results meet laboratory QA/QC criteria.  Enters laboratory results into data base, and maintains accurate written records of sample preparation, reagents, and analysis.
• Prepares reagents, standards, and other solutions used in daily lab operations.
• Maintains, calibrates, and services laboratory and/or sampling equipment. 
• Monitors data analyses results to comply with Quality Assurance/Control Program, promptly recognizes, flags, and reports data outliers, presents fully vetted data results.
• Trains other staff in use of lab equipment.
• Performs sample collection duties as required and delivers samples to contract labs.

The City of Thousand Oaks is in search of an Assistant/Associate Transit Planner for the City’s award-winning public transit program.  The Assistant/Associate Transit Planner will be responsible for a range of duties in support of transit operations, including planning, implementing, overseeing, and coordinating key transit programs and initiatives, coordination with contracting agencies, other City divisions, vendors, and the general public. Experience in public transit agency, preferably in a contract operation environment, is desirable. Position will be filled at either the entry-level Assistant classification or the journey level Associate classification based on qualifications and experience. Primary Responsibilities:

• Conduct transit related research, studies, and surveys ranging from routine to complex
• Analyze and interpret data to define transit needs (route planning, stop locations, and community needs)
• Maintain complex databases of transit related information and dissemination of same for state and federal reporting needs
• Design of new routes, routes structures, and route timing
• Assist in the preparation of reports and findings related to operational efficiency of bus routes and services
• Assist in researching, negotiating, and monitoring assigned contracts and agreements with outside providers; ensure work complies with contracts and agreements

This position is at-will, temporary, and part-time and is scheduled for twenty-five (25) hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE:
Experience related to filing, reception, processing mail, typing, data entry, answering telephone, assisting the public, and/or other office support duties. 

OR

One (1) year of experience as an Office Assistant I in Glenn  County or one (1) year of increasingly responsible clerical experience including public contact.

EDUCATION:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE:
Possession of, or ability to obtain an appropriate, valid California Driver’s License.

Wastewater Collections Operator II/III

The City of Marysville seeks qualified candidates for this excellent career opportunity!

Wastewater Collections Operator will work under close supervision while performing basic inspection and maintenance of mechanical and hydraulic equipment (and components) in the operation of a Wastewater Treatment Plant, Lift Stations and the Wastewater/Stormwater Collection System.  The Operator performs a variety of advanced tasks in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, Lift Stations and Wastewater/Stormwater Collection system for the City of Marysville's Wastewater Collections Division.

SALARY RANGE:
Wastewater Operator II – $3,487.63 to $4,577.51 - monthly 

Wastewater Operator III - $3,954.74 to $5,190.60 - monthly

WORK SCHEDULE:

8 hour shifts; services in emergency standby capacity; provides customer service and performs all aspects of collection system maintenance and repair during after-hours periods including holidays and weekends.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

• City policies and procedures;
• Tools and equipment used in the operation, repair and maintenance of wastewater treatment plant and wastewater or stormwater collection systems;
• State and Federal laws and regulations governing wastewater plant and wastewater/stormwater collection system operations;
• California Department of Environmental Quality, American Water Works Association, Environmental Protection Agency, Marysville City Code, Occupational Safety and Health Administration laws, rules, and requirements governing the management of wastewater systems;
• Safe work practices, occupational hazards and safety precautions in a utility systems; and,
• Techniques for use and storage of chemicals, including OSHA Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for hazardous chemicals used in the workplace.

SKILLS IN:

• Following standardized methods and procedures, and verbal and written instructions; 
• Performing basic wastewater systems maintenance activities;
• Identifying unsafe conditions and mechanical problems; 
• Reading and understanding manufacturer's manuals and equipment specifications; 
• Operating heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner; 
• Operating a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized software;  
• Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing;
• Using and maintaining tools and equipment to perform maintenance and repair work; 
• Making routine operating adjustments and repairs to equipment; 
• Following safe work practices;
• Inspecting and monitor machinery and equipment to very compliance with prescribed operating conditions and safety standards; and, 
• Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.

EXPERIENCE:

The candidate's level of experience will determine the placement at level II (4 yrs) or level III (6 yrs).

Wastewater Treatment with Wastewater Collections System experience (Preferred).

Collection System Operations, Repair and Maintenance: 4 years (Required).

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES:

Education/Training:  High School Diploma or GED Equivalent;

Experience:  Four (4) years of wastewater experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

License:  Valid California State Driver's license is required.  A Wastewater Treatment Plant or Wastewater Collection System Operator's Grade 2 Certification from California State Water Resources Control Board or Collections System Maintenance Certification is required and/or within one year of appointment.  A valid California State Commercials driver's License Class A or B is required within six months of hire.  Additional technical training and certification maybe required, including Federal Emergency Management Agency training.
