The Superior Court of California, County of San Mateo is seeking a dependable and skilled Court Utility / Maintenance Worker to support daily court operations through general maintenance, repair, custodial coverage, and logistical services. This position performs a wide range of semi-skilled and skilled tasks essential to maintaining well-cared for and professional court facilities.

The Court Utility / Maintenance Worker performs a broad range of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, custodial, and logistical services in support of court facilities. Incumbents work independently on routine assignments and under general supervision on complex or unusual tasks, exercising sound judgment and professionalism in an active court environment.

The work differs from higher-level trades classifications in that the work is generalist in nature and does not require journeyman-level certification. It differs from custodial-only classifications by requiring maintenance, repair, carpentry, and equipment support skills.

Examples Of Duties

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Perform painting, furniture repair, minor carpentry, and wood restoration
• Repair and replace window coverings, fixtures, and building hardware
• Conduct basic appliance, equipment, and minor electrical repairs
• Perform minor workstation upgrades and repairs
• Assemble, move, and reconfigure furniture and equipment
• Provide occasional custodial coverage on an as-needed basis, not as a primary function of the classification, including restrooms, offices, and public areas
• Deliver paper, supplies, furniture, and water gallons throughout court facilities
• Stock, inventory, and assist with ordering supplies and materials
• Assist departments, court staff, and operations as required
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment
• Follow established safety procedures and court protocols
• Perform other facilities related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge of:

• General building maintenance and repair practices
• Painting materials, techniques, and surface preparation
• Basic carpentry and furniture repair
• Safe use and care of tools and equipment
• Workplace safety standards and procedures

Ability to:

• Perform physical labor safely, including lifting, moving, and standing for extended periods
• Read and follow work orders, instructions, and safety guidelines
• Work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
• Communicate effectively and professionally with court staff and the public
• Maintain discretion and professionalism in a court environment

Experience:

• One (1) to three (3) years of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, custodial services, or a related field
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License may be required

• Work may involve physical exertion, including lifting 50 pounds or less.
• Position is Non-Exempt (FLSA)

Open & Promotional. Anyone may apply.  Current employees of the Superior Court of California in the County of San Mateo with at least six months (1040 hours) of continuous service in classified regular, probationary, extra-help/limited term positions prior to the final filing date will receive five points added to their final passing score.
 
The examination process will consist of an application screening (pass/fail) based on the candidate's application and responses to the supplemental questions. Candidates who pass the application screening will be invited to a panel interview (weight: 100%).

Depending on the number of applicants, an application appraisal of education and experience may be used in place of other examinations, or further evaluation of work experience may be conducted to group applicants by level of qualification. The Role:

The City of Redwood City is seeking Firefighter Trainees who, under immediate supervision, actively participate in the Firefighter Academy training program. Trainees perform all related learning and testing activities in preparation for the Firefighter/Engineer classification within the Fire Department of the City of Redwood City. The Department: 

The Water and Sewer Utilities Department is a utility enterprise that provides planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of the City's water distribution system, sewer collection system, and recycled water system. The Position: 

This is the entry level maintenance position for the Water and Sewer Utility. Typically, you will be assigned to a crew, and will perform semi-skilled work on water or sewer infrastructure. This position will require odd hours and sometimes extended days if jobs run long. You will come in contact with raw sewage, working in knee deep mud, and working around trenches, often on busy city streets.
  
 Under direction, this position operates, maintains, inspects, repairs, and rehabilitates or replaces the water, sanitary sewer, and/or recycled water systems of the City of Santa Clara. This position performs heavy physical labor while performing planned maintenance and repair or emergency response for the City's utility systems and the associated appurtenances.
  
 This position requires one (1) year of related experience. Related experience may include job duties such as pipefitting, plumbing, commercial or residential construction, underground construction, landscaping, paving, steelworker, HVAC, paving, and heavy equipment operations.

THE POSITION

Under general direction of the Water Resources Division Manager, this position serves as the Chief Plant Operator of the City’s Water Reclamation Plant (wastewater treatment). The selected candidate will plan, organize, direct and manage the operation of the Water Reclamation Plant including wastewater treatment and recycled water production. They will coordinate activities with other sections/divisions/departments, external customers, regional wastewater agencies, and contractors. This position will ensure that all regulatory compliance targets are met and act as a liaison to regulatory agencies. This position requires a valid Grade IV Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate issued by the State Water Resources Control Board at the time of appointment.

Position Responsibilities:

• Serves as the Chief Plant Operator for the Water Reclamation Plant
• Recommends and implements section goals and objectives
• Implements goals and objectives set by the Division Manager
• Coordinates the execution and process impacts of capital improvement projects with project managers, consultants and contractors
• Establishes performance standards, guidelines, and methods
• Develops, implements, and administers current and new programs and policies

Under the general direction of a Bureau Deputy Fire Chief to participate as a staff member managing a wide range of fire department activities that may include supervising shift assignments; administrative assignments including planning, organizing and directing programs toward accomplishing goals and objectives of the department; to oversee and direct daily operations of the department; and other duties as assigned.

The City of Dixon is excited to announce the recruitment for one (1) full-time, regular position of Water Operator I. This position performs a variety of maintenance, operations, and repair work on the City's water distribution system, including pumps, mains, chlorinators, meters, and other equipment. 

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Work is performed in a variety of different environments with exposure to varying weather conditions including high temperatures, rain, and wind. Work is performed with exposure to hazardous materials, smoke, gasses, and fumes; with exposure to hazards such as, moving machine parts and live electrical current; and exposure to loud and/or high frequency noise. Occasional performance of heavy manual labor; occasional standing or driving for long periods of time; use of a computer; occasional climbing, work at heights above 10 feet; working on ladders, bending, stooping, crawling, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and repetitive hand movement. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Constant use of overall color vision. Frequent grasping, holding, and reaching. Frequent contact with other staff, outside agencies and the general public; occasional working alone. Night, weekend, and holiday hours will be required on a rotating schedule for 24/7 standby and weekend/holiday rounds.
