Valley Water is seeking an Assistant Engineer I/II to join the Large Construction Projects Unit of the Water Utility Capital Division. The Assistant Engineer I/II, under direct supervision, performs a variety of civil engineering duties in the management of Valley Water construction projects. • Perform a variety of professional civil engineering duties in the management of construction contracts for Valley Water projects to ensure work quality and adherence to professional codes, standards, and Valley Water specifications.

The Central County Fire Department (CCFD) is seeking a highly organized and dedicated part-time Coordinator to lead and support the activities of our local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). This vital position plays a key role in planning, organizing, and overseeing CERT training, coordinating volunteer engagement, and promoting disaster preparedness in the community.

Key Responsibilities include:

The Position:

This is a temporary, as-needed position assigned to the City of Santa Clara’s Electric Utility Department, Silicon Valley Power (SVP). The position is part of the Systems Support Group (SSG), which functions as the technology backbone of SVP and is responsible for critical technology modernization, cybersecurity, and operational support in response to rapid utility growth and evolving regulatory requirements.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, and support both enterprise and utility-specific network infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on Cisco technologies. The incumbent plays a critical role in ensuring the availability, performance, and security of the organization’s overall network environment, including the SVP’s utility communication and control systems.
 
In this role, the Network Administrator is responsible for administering and monitoring network services, managing a variety of advanced network and security products—including, but not limited to, Cisco firewalls and intrusion prevention systems- and maintaining compliance with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) requirements as well as applicable state and local mandates. This position involves supporting and maintaining complex multi-protocol infrastructure components, including enterprise-grade Cisco firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless controllers. Additionally, it consists of managing secure VPN access, routing protocols, and future zero-trust network access initiatives.

 

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position, and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

The Opportunity:

To perform technical inspection and investigative work in enforcing compliance with laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to the prevention and control of fires; and do related work as required. The Fire Prevention Inspector I/II position is flexibly staffed based on experience.

 

This is the entry level class in the Fire Prevention Inspection series. Woodside Fire Protection District has an exciting opportunity to join our Fire Prevention Department.

Under the supervision of the Fire Marshal or their designee, the Wildfire Defensible Space Inspector (Per Diem/Part- Time) supports wildfire prevention efforts across the District. This position is seasonal and ideal for those interested in public service, environmental safety, or fire prevention.

This part-time, per diem role is responsible for inspecting properties to ensure compliance with wildfire prevention and fuel mitigation requirements. You'll engage with residents, educate the public, and help reduce wildfire risk across the District.

All candidates that are given a conditional offer of employment are required to successfully pass a pre-employment background check with an agency designated by WFPD. You will also be required to provide a DMV Driving Record Report from the past 10 years.

• Placement at Step C of the Firefighter-Paramedic salary range upon hire; $137,262 annually
• Starting balance of 48 hours of vacation leave and 60 hours of sick leave

The Firefighter-Paramedic protects life, property, and the environment by performing firefighting activities, emergency medical aid, hazardous materials response, and fire prevention duties. The position is also responsible for maintaining fire equipment, apparatus, and facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• CA State Firefighter 1 or completion of CA State Board of Fire Service Firefighter 1 curriculum prior to appointment
• Valid California Paramedic License (or equivalent); or ability to obtain prior to appointment
• 1-year experience as a full-time paid Firefighter/Paramedic
