 ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City Public Works Services Department invites you to apply for the position of Utilities Field Supervisor in the Wastewater Division. The Wastewater Division operates and maintains the City’s sanitary sewer collection system and municipal stormwater system. Under general direction, the Utilities Field Supervisor plans, organizes, supervises, trains, and evaluates the work of assigned crews engaged in maintenance, repair, installation, construction, and regulatory compliance duties within the sanitary sewer collection system and municipal stormwater system.  Primary duties include supervising and evaluating performance of assigned staff, scheduling maintenance and repair work, responding to customer inquiries and requests, and traveling among various worksites to direct, supervise, and evaluate work performed in the field. This position is distinguished from the Public Works Superintendent in that the latter is responsible for the administration and management of a large operational division.

The Department

What You Will Do:

• Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives related to the Department’s Emergency Management Program; establish schedules and methods for program development, implementation, and monitoring; implement policies and procedures.
• Develop and implement Emergency Management Program activities including the joint Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
• Evaluate emergency management program activities; recommend improvements and modifications; prepare various program reports.
• Prepare and conduct public outreach and education related to emergency management and preparedness including CCFD Emergency Management website pages, the preparation of social media posts and campaigns, newsletters, and training announcements; provide educational presentations to the community.

• Coordinate EOC operations including the creation of Emergency Operation Center (EOC) procedure manuals and checklists, training and maintenance of response platforms, ensuring that the EOC is properly equipped, and serving as liaison with the San Mateo County Department of Emergency Management in the event of an EOC activation.
• Provide CSTI/Cal OES emergency management classes for agency staff.
• Provide resources and other information as requested for EOC staff and support and provide necessary National Incident Management System (NIMS) training for agency employees.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Overview:

Do you want to be part of a dynamic team that helps ensure sustainable groundwater supplies? Valley Water is seeking qualified candidates to join the Groundwater Management Unit. This position uses and maintains groundwater models to simulate current and future groundwater conditions, supporting groundwater supply and planning programs and contributing to sustainable water management. Related analyses include mass balance, statistics, or other methods to prepare or review hydrogeologic reports and engineering analyses. Work directly supports water supply operations, managed aquifer recharge, drought response, Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) compliance reporting, and the Water Supply Master Plan. Additional responsibilities may include environmental stewardship projects, land use reviews, and field monitoring activities.

This is a single position, for which the incumbent would be hired as either an Assistant Engineer I/ II or an Assistant Water Resources Specialist I/II. There are multiple ways a candidate may develop the skills and experience required to be successful in this role. Depending on the background and experience of the selected candidate, the exact classification will be determined at the point of hire.

Two (2) years of professional level experience with responsibility for compliance with environmental permitting, water supply planning or distribution, groundwater management, mitigation of natural resource impacts, or hydrogeology or engineering civil.

• Proficiency using and maintaining groundwater flow models. 
• Project based work experience in groundwater management and hydrogeology including issues like groundwater overdraft, managed aquifer recharge, groundwater/surface water interaction, and/or seawater intrusion. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience with functions, graphs, and pivot tables in Excel. 
• Experience using GIS and performing statistical analysis (e.g., trend test), and use of computer programming language.

Assistant Engineer - Civil I/II

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or a field related to assigned functional area(s).

OR  

Possession of a valid California Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate with two (2) years of associated paraprofessional engineering experience.

Required License or Certificate

Groundwater Management Unit (Position Code 76) 
Valley Water Telework Program: Eligibility for telework will depend on the type of work performed, operational needs, and the ability for the employee to perform the essential functions of their job duties while teleworking. Employment with Valley Water requires employees to live within 150 miles of their primary physical work location located in San Jose, California by their start date.

 

This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, typically working 40% remote and 60% onsite.

Woodside Fire Protection District offers an exceptional Cadet Program for individuals interested in a career in the Fire Service. Cadets gain hands-on experience participating in training and public service events. Cadets work 24-hour shifts and ride-along on emergency calls.

Woodside Cadets will work and be involved in:

Emergency calls, firefighter training, public education events, fire prevention, station duties, CERPP, CPR/first aid training. They must also meet monthly hour requirements and attend monthly training drills.

The Cadet term begins in July 1st 2026 through June 30th 2027.

The Skywalker Fire Brigade Fire Chief (FC) position will supervise, lead, and train the Skywalker Fire Brigade (Department). This is a management position for 9 employees that staffs one private fire station and has the opportunity to build and direct a motivated staff of firefighters. The Fire Chief will oversee three duty Captains and their projects, providing guidance and leadership for the organization. The Fire Chief will oversee daily schedules with regard to standard prevention activities, training, and special events. Oversee fire prevention inspections, lead vegetation management projects including pile burning, shaded fuel breaks, and interact with the property insurance agent and facilities manager for future projects. The Chief will represent the Skywalker Fire Brigade during county-wide meetings for Operations and Training. Skywalker Fire employees provide an extraordinary level of customer service and hospitality to Skywalker Properties' clientele. While this role operates within a Brigade fire department, the position itself is mostly comprised of prevention and training. This is a great opportunity to train and develop individuals in a unique, private environment with a dedicated and passionate team to support our mission.

Schedule:

This position will work a semi-flexible 40hr work week as to oversee and manage 3 shifts who are on a 48/96 work schedule.
