Town of Ross, California
The Town of Ross is seeking a full-time Public Works Director/Town Engineer. Reporting directly to the Town Manager, this position oversees and directs the operations of the Public Works Department—developing, maintaining, and improving the Town's public infrastructure in compliance with adopted codes and regulations—and manages all of the Town's current and long-range public works projects.

The Ross Community
Ross is located in the heart of the Ross Valley in Marin County, approximately 12 miles from the Golden Gate Bridge and 6 miles from the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. It is primarily a single-family residential community of approximately 2,530 residents. The Ideal Candidate

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of six (6) years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience in municipal or county government

• A Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university is preferred but not required
• California Registration as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) is desirable

The Position

Event Services Representatives assist in monitoring and providing customer/client support for special events. Event Services Representatives maybe required to provide technical assistance and set up of equipment on day of event, assist in resolving customer issues and complaints, and respond to emergency situations during events. The on-site Event Services Representative coordinates with event staff such as ushers, ticket takers, security, crowd control, outside contractors, and performs facility safety checks which may include enforcing Safety and Fire Marshall Regulations.  

Due to the nature of the job responsibilities, Event Services Representatives must be able to:

THE DEPARTMENT

The Human Resources Department provides a wide range of internal service support to the City's 12 departments and over 400 employees, strategically aligned with the City Manager's Office leadership of the City team.

The Human Resources Department is composed of a Human Resources Director, Risk Manager, Senior Human Resources Analyst, and three additional support staff positions.

The Human Resources Operations Manager oversees a variety of labor relations and benefits administration duties and serves on the bargaining team during union negotiations.  They will work closely with the HR Director to make important decisions for the HR Department, such as organizational structure changes and staff oversight responsibilities while also serving as a subject matter expert to fellow HR staff and department heads.  They will oversee HR staff and contribute to the development of the Department's annual budget.  This role focuses on supporting the HR team in union relations, meet and confer challenges, grievance responses, and contract negotiations, while supporting department managers through the employee coaching and progressive discipline process.  The Human Resources Operations Manager will use a high degree of accuracy, independent judgment, and discretionary decision-making with respect to interpretation and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), City policies and procedures, the Employer-Employee Relations Resolution and Public Employment Relations Board rulings.  This position also provides oversight for employee benefits administration, and worker's compensation programs for the City.  

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Human Resources Department has one (1) vacancy to be filled at either the Human Resources Operation Manager or Principal Human Resources Analyst classification.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in labor relations, collective bargaining, contract negotiations, and employee relations, including grievance response, workplace investigations, performance management, and providing guidance and coaching to supervisors and managers.  Experience with benefits administration, day-to-day payroll functions, and local government operations is highly desirable.  The successful candidate will be results-driven, adaptable, and customer-service orientated, with the ability to excel in a highly autonomous environment and effectively support eight bargaining units.

• Assists in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the department, assists in administering the department's budget.

  • Experience: Five (5) years of professional experience in public administration required, including two (2) years of direct supervision preferably in a public agency.
  • Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Public Administration or a related field is preferred.

DEFINITION

The City of Live Oak Internship Program is designed to attract, develop and mentor innovative individuals interested in pursuing a career in the public sector. The program seeks dedicated students who, through their academic achievement and/or employment history, have demonstrated high potential for a career in local government. Interns are encouraged to apply for full-time positions with the City after their internship is completed.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

Interns generally work under close supervision and perform simple or routine tasks while learning to perform the more difficult and responsible ones. Interns are hired as limited term employees and employment service is dependent on the length of the project or the particular City service needs.

Intern positions are by their nature temporary employment and Interns are not eligible for City benefit programs unless specifically approved in writing by the City Manager.

The work schedule is typically part-time 15-20 hours per week with flexibility to work 30 to 40 hours per week depending on the needs of the Intern and the City program assigned. Interns with significant experience in their assigned area may be eligible to move along the assigned Salary Band with the specific approval of the City Manager.

Intern positions are not permanently funded and may be terminated at any time.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• May review and route routine planning documents, petitions, permits, packets and records; analyze environmental checklists and environmental information forms and make specific recommendations following department procedures;
• May assist professional and technical staff with special projects including surveying, data gathering and reporting, analyses and computerized report presentations;
• May respond to basic inquiries from the general public and resolve issues related to the City's planning and zoning procedures and specific permits; research and provide information to City staff and the general public regarding land use issues and standard environmental documentation;

Minimum Qualifications:

Licenses/Certifications:
