SENIOR PLANNER

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, performs a variety of professional planning responsibilities and tasks associated with the coordination and implementation of complex planning projects; performs a variety of duties relating to the collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of technical land use, environmental, zoning, and other City planning data.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the advanced journey level in the professional planning class series. The position is characterized by the level of technical expertise and skill and independent oversight of out of the ordinary, high profile, complex and atypical projects, while functioning as the project coordinator, working with and leading interdisciplinary teams. The Senior Planner is distinguished from the Associate Planner by the complexity and technical expertise required to work on assigned projects.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

1. Coordinate, lead, and perform professional level work in the fields of current and advanced planning, zoning administration, design review, and economic development activities.
2. Prepare, edit, and review complex reports on a wide range of planning issues; make presentations to the City Council, Planning Commission, standing and ad hoc committees, developers, community groups, and outside agencies.
3. Review and approve or deny plan checks for building projects.
4. Supervise and participate in the review of complex development proposals for conformance to City standards; resolve disputes between the City and developers or property owners.
5. Review and edit letters sent by the Planning Division regarding various City actions.
6. Review and respond to referrals from other agencies regarding outside projects that may affect the City.
7. Conduct field visits and site assessments.
8. Take phone calls and inquiries from the public and other agencies; provide assistance to walk in customers at the counter.
9. Participate in the development and implementation of the City’s planning policies.
10. Assist in the training of assigned staff.
11. Undertake special projects as assigned.
12. Attend and participate in professional group meetings; maintain awareness of new trends and developments in the field of municipal planning; incorporate new developments as appropriate into programs.
13. Attend a variety of meetings, including Planning Commission meetings and predevelopment meetings; provide support to advisory bodies.
14. Perform related duties as required.

DESCRIPTION 

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Revenue Customer Service Representative to join our Public Services Division within the Finance Department. This role is essential in ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service while maintaining accurate financial records and processing payments.

The Finance Department manages the City’s financial assets and operations and comprises four divisions: Accounting, Administration, Facilities, and Public Services. 

While the current vacancy is specifically for the Public Services Division, the eligibility list created from this recruitment process may also be used to fill future openings in the Finance Department, where they can contribute to various aspects of public service and financial operations.

SALARY 

The anticipated hiring range for the Information Technology (IT) Manager position is $142,491 - $178,114 annually, with a full salary range up to $213,737 annually. The City typically makes offers within the hiring range based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. 

DESCRIPTION 

The City is seeking a strategic and collaborative IT Manager to join the newly established IT Department! In this key leadership role, you will oversee the City’s infrastructure and operations division, including cybersecurity, information systems, data center, network infrastructure, and help desk, while guiding technology strategy that supports operations across all departments.  

The position is responsible for managing IT staff, system implementations and upgrades, partnering in the development of long-term technology plans, and ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient IT services. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking leader with strong technical expertise, project management experience, and the ability to partner with the Chief Technology Officer and Deputy Chief Technology Officer to implement technology solutions that improve operations and service delivery. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Develop and implement IT strategic plans, policies, and procedures to support citywide information systems and departmental priorities. 

• Lead, supervise, and evaluate IT staff, including hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and disciplinary actions when necessary.

The City of Dixon is excited to announce the recruitment for a Public Works Director. The Public Works Director will play a critical leadership role during a period of elevated development activity and organizational transition. As an Intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting our City's departments and making a positive impact on our community.  Interns perform routine and/or general assistance tasks with variable difficulty. 

This recruitment seeks a team to support the City Clerk in a citywide digitizing project involving historical files, records, maps, drawings, and related materials.  The project is in progress and will likely run through June/July with team members working between 16~36 hours per week, depending on their availability and preferences.  Team members will work collaboratively in groups of three to four and must have the ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds.

The Position

The Community Relations Manager/Public Information Officer is a full-time management position that reports directly to the City Manager and is part of the City Manager’s Office. The Public Information and Community Relations Division is responsible for providing information to the general public about the programs, projects, and policies of the City Council and City government.

This position is a key member of the City’s Executive Team given the unique position of being a liaison to citizens, businesses, schools, and non-profits in the City.

Under direction of the City Manager, Community Relations is responsible for the City’s cable TV franchise agreements, serving as a liaison with civic organizations, and providing staff support to the Civic Action Commission and Education Commission.

The Public Information function includes providing timely and accurate information to residents, businesses, the media, and others about City services and programs. Significant use of digital communication tools, including the City's website, social media platforms, and the City Channel, is a central aspect of the position. In addition, the role oversees and coordinates production of the Outlook, the City’s printed community newsletter, as well as communications related to special events.

Assisting the Mayor with official communications, sharing information from other organizations regarding upcoming events, providing tours of City Hall and serving as the point of contact for community organizations, providing staff support to City commissions and City Council meetings, and coordinating environmental programs are all aspects of this role that create an interesting, rewarding, and stimulating variety of work.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for the Community Relations Manager/Public Information Officer is $142,044—$188,880. Placement in this range is dependent upon qualifications.

• Retirement – The City participates in the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) under a 2% @ 60 formula for Classic Members. The City contributes 3% to a 401(a) plan as well as $200/month to an Retirement Health Saving (RHS) plan. Voluntary Roth IRA & 457 plans available.
• Medical Benefit – The City offers two choices for coverage—Kaiser or Health Net. The City pays 75% of the Kaiser monthly premium at each coverage level. 
• Medical in Lieu –  The City will contribute $400 (employee only coverage) or $500 (employee + 1 coverage) or $600 (family coverage) in cash, or a contribution to a 457 deferred compensation plan, in lieu of medical coverage.
• Dental & Vision: City-paid for employee and eligible dependents.
• Life Insurance – City-paid coverage equal to 1x annual salary.
• Holidays – 14 paid holidays per year.
• Vacation Leave – Up to 25 days based on years of service.
• Sick Leave – Accrues at the rate of one day per month, with no maximum accrual.
• Administrative Leave – Up to 16 hours of administrative leave each month on a non-cumulative basis.
• Flexible Spending (Section 125) Plan – Dependent care and out-of-pocket medical costs may be paid on a pre-tax basis.
