The City of Thousand Oaks has an excellent promotional opportunity for a Landscape Maintenance Worker I/II in the Public Works department.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Perform skilled work in the pruning, care, and maintenance of trees and grounds maintenance, including chemical application duties
• Perform heavy manual labor in the care and maintenance of trees and in performing grounds maintenance
• Install, repair, and program irrigation systems and controllers
• Perform graffiti removal
• Perform routine and emergency work from an aerial lift bucket
• Assist in overseeing the work of contractors
• Assist with encampment and abandoned property clean-up efforts (e.g. supporting police personnel in non-enforcement and enforcement situations, or contracted services by posting, documenting, collecting, storing and/or disposing of private property or debris)

Note: Work Schedule – 4/40 (Monday – Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). Position involves performing after-hours emergency work on an “as needed” basis and on-call duties on a rotating basis.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a valid State of California driver’s license and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with individuals from diverse backgrounds. This position requires the ability to work independently while receiving direction from a supervisor, as well as the capacity to train, oversee, and collaborate effectively with volunteers and older adults. Strong attention to detail is essential, including the ability to maintain accurate records and submit documentation as required. Proficiency with computers, including experience using Microsoft Word and Excel, is required. Upon hire, the candidate must successfully obtain a State Food Handler Safety Certificate and pass all required background checks. A bilingual pay differential may be available for candidates fluent in identified languages.  Must be available Monday-Friday 10:00am-2:00pm.

Recreation Program Specialist Example Duties:

• Follow reservation protocol/procedure for patrons.
• Review menu provided by caterer, submit nutritional component breakdown to County for grant compliance, and prepare flyers for patron.
• Submit documentation/information associated with County nutrition grant to supervisor.
• Schedule and implement nutritional education for seniors and in-service training for staff and volunteers.
• Serve as liaison with caterer, grant provider and staff/volunteers.
• Implement food safety practices as outlined by the Health Department.
• Prior nutrition experience is desired, but not required. Training will be provided.

The City of San Carlos has an opportunity for a full-time Maintenance Worker to work in their Public Works Department. This classification performs a variety of routine, heavy labor and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of public works facilities, City parks, and City buildings.

Essential Duties

• Perform daily safety checks and routine maintenance of equipment to ensure it is safe for use.
• Use proper techniques for operation of equipment and tools in a safe manner, according to accepted City procedures.
• Operate maintenance equipment and tools such as trucks, power tools, sewer rodder, hydraulic jet rodder/vacuum truck, loader backhoe, compressor, boom truck, CCTV truck, pneumatic and electro-mechanical controls, and related equipment and tools for a variety of construction and maintenance operations.
• Perform on-call duties and work in emergency situations as required.
• Install, repair and modify pump station machinery and controls.
• Check pump stations for proper operation; troubleshoot and remedy malfunctions and stoppages.
• Read and interpret maps of underground sewer and drainage systems.
• Paint traffic markings on streets, crosswalks, parking lots, and curbs; operate airless line striping equipment.
• Manufacture and install traffic signs and remove signs no longer required.
• Design and manufacture special signs for municipal facilities.
• Install and remove traffic barricades and cones as required.
• Repair surface failures, utility cuts, chuckholes and seals cracks in asphalt pavements properly and competently.
• Break out and replace concrete sidewalks and gutters using a concrete saw, pavement breaker, wooden forms, and hand tools to finish the surface.
• Clean sanitary sewer lines using hand tools, a hydraulic jet rodder/vacuum and mechanical rodder.
• Excavate, remove, and install sanitary sewer pipes utilizing hand tools, power tools such as pneumatic pavement breakers, compaction equipment and loader backhoe.
• Repair storm drains, catch basins and storm drain pipes.
• Drive dump trucks to haul material to and from the job sites.
• Rake leaves, shovel and digs holes.
• Pick up and dispose of trash and debris from parks and roadsides.
• Control the growth of weeds in lawn areas, shrub areas and flower beds using hand tools, spray equipment and weed eaters.
• Trim trees, hedges, and shrubs using appropriate equipment, remove debris.
• Check irrigation sprinkler systems and ensures their proper functioning, by cleaning and adjusting heads and digging up and repairing broken lines.
• Clean City's park buildings by sweeping and mopping floors, carpets, and cleaning restroom facilities. Replaces light bulbs.
• Provide set up of tables and chairs for City functions.

The City of Patterson is currently recruiting to one (1) part-time position for Pool Manager with the Recreation & Community Services Department for their Summer program and to establish an Eligibility List. Under the supervision of the Recreation and Community Services Director and the Recreation Coordinator, the Pool Manager will be responsible for the operations of the pool. The Pool Manager will be expected to schedule Lifeguards to work as well as oversee the Lifeguards. The Pool Managers are to teach Lifeguards the pool policies and to assist any Lifeguard in decisions made at the pool. The Pool Manager must also be able to resolve confrontations from citizens if not to direct them to the next person in the chain of command. Performs other duties as assigned.

This position is established for 28 hours a week, but will vary depending on programming needs, and will be working weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The City of Patterson is seeking to fill one (1) part-time Recreation Leader position in the Recreation Department for their Senior Program and to establish an eligibility list.  Duties include, but are not limited to: under supervision, works with staff to provide programs and activities for Seniors; organizes and teaches participants games and activities such as dance, music, arts & crafts, etc. and with assistance, coordinate, schedule, and plan the programs; ensures participant safety and well being during all activities; ensures the proper handling of first aid and emergency situations.  

 

The City of Patterson is seeking to fill several part-time Recreation Specialist position in the Recreation Department for their Summer sports program and to establish an eligibility list.  Duties include, but are not limited to: implement a wide range of programs that foster community development that include youth/adult sports, special events, open gym, and youth development activities.  This position will require assistance of general office duties and may include supervision of volunteers and staff, and performs related duties as assigned.

This position is established for 19 hours a week, but will vary depending on programming needs, and will be working weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays.

The City of Patterson is seeking to fill several part-time Cashier positions in the Recreation Department for their Summer program and to establish and eligibility list.  Duties include, but are not limited to: under direct supervision, responsible for collecting concession fees, and admissions. Responsible for the financial integrity of all funds collected and is responsible for tallying and reconciling funds received at the end of the shift. Deposit daily aquatic revenues as instructed at appropriate city facility or with appropriate staff.  Prepare financial reports related to pool and concession revenues.  Responds to phone inquiries, rental requests and performs registration of aquatics programs.  Performs other work as required.

The Summer program typically runs June 1st through August 31st.
