About the Position

Positions in this classification perform work in the organization and implementation of a wide variety of recreation activities. Will provide functional supervision to a Recreation Leader I or II as assigned.  Receives general supervision from a full-time Recreation Department staff member. Hours of work vary per week but are primarily between the hours of Monday –Thursday 5:00pm - 10:00pm and Sundays 3:00 pm - 9:30 pm.

Essential Duties

• Plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs specialized recreation programs as assigned.       
• Oversees the work of Recreation Leaders I and II as assigned, to ensure effective programs.
• Maintains required records, including team registrations, team rosters, program supplies, and program statistics.
• Oversees adult recreational sports leagues.
• Supports youth flag football and basketball leagues.

The Position

The Community Services Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating a specific program area within the Recreation Division.  This assignment is typically a more defined program area that is narrower in size or scope than those assigned to Supervisors.  Coordinators excel at the following:

• Instruct and lead specialized recreation and human services activities requiring leadership in a structured environment;
• Provide activities and general facility supervision and control at a community recreation center or special use facility;
• Coordinate, develop, implement, and evaluate programs and services;
• Perform office, administrative, public information and activity intake responsibilities;
• Assist in preparing program facilities for structured program activities and special events.

The Community Services Coordinator receives general supervision from higher-level recreation positions and may exercise functional and technical supervision over lower level and part-time recreation personnel and volunteers.

The City of San Mateo Public Works Department is seeking a Traffic and Lighting Technician

The Department

The Public Works Department is comprised of the Engineering and Facilities Services Division (EFSD) and the Environmental Services Division (ESD). Each division is led by a Deputy Director reporting to the Director of Public Works. The department is responsible for the City’s major capital projects and infrastructure including streets, street lights, traffic signals, sewer and storm conveyance systems, wastewater treatment plant, pump stations, a major lagoon, and dams and levees. The Position

The Traffic and Lighting Technician performs skilled electrical and mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of traffic control signage, traffic signal equipment, and street lights; and guides the work of and trains other maintenance personnel, and performs related work as required.  Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Guide and participate in the work of other maintenance personnel.  Ability to set-up work zone safety and prepare traffic control work plans.
• Inspect, install, remove, and repair signal controls and auxiliary equipment such as light standards, control boxes, light fixtures, lamps, and circuitry; diagnose malfunctions; adjust and replace electronic and mechanical components.
• Inspect, install, remove and repair street lights and auxiliary equipment.
• Repair, replace or modify electric and electronic components, controllers, relays, switches, fuses, timers and other parts; design and construct special test equipment for shop testing of electronic components.
• Investigate complaints and reports of signal and traffic light malfunctions; adjust, repair or remove defective equipment; make field repairs of damaged equipment.
• Identify, locate and indicate with appropriate identification markers underground utilities (USA); respond to USA work orders within regulatory requirements; and document services accordingly.
• Be available for standby assignments in accordance with Department policies and procedures.
• Assist in the design of electrical circuits and systems for street lighting and traffic signals.
• Inspect the work of contractors during the course of construction and upon completion.
• Monitor traffic control computer and make adjustments as necessary.

The Traffic and Lighting Technician receives general direction from the Field Maintenance Manager and direct supervision from a Public Works Supervisor or higher level department staff and may exercise technical or functional direction over and provide work review to a Traffic Safety Worker or Maintenance Worker I/II.

Thousand Oaks Community Center 

Part-Time position: variable hours; evenings and weekends

Pay Rate: starting at $18.13 an hour

Summary:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of custodial tasks and provides oversight of rental groups, in accordance with District policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist patrons and prospective participants on the phone and in-person
• Assist permit groups with set-up and breakdown of tables, chairs, and other equipment
• Promptly open and unlock facilities or close and secure facilities as scheduled
• Complete facility condition forms following permit group use and incident reports as needed
• Notify management concerning need for major repairs or additions
• Turn athletic field lights off and on for sports groups

VTA’s Engineering and Program Delivery (EPD) Division is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer for the Quality Assurance (QA) Group under the Technical Services Department.  

Quality Assurance Group: 
The QA Group supports all capital improvement programs for the Division during planning, design, procurement, construction and closeout phases of highway, rail, transit and facilities projects.  As a Senior Transportation Engineer, you will play an important role in ensuring delivery of quality products and services for the Division. Santa Clara Valley Transportation Agency (VTA) is seeking a collaborative, solutions-oriented engineer with strong experience in rail transit systems and a passion for improving system performance for the position of Senior Systems Engineer.

The Senior Systems Engineer plays a key role in advancing the safety, reliability, and performance of the Light Rail System. Based at the Light Rail Maintenance Yard, this position provides high-level engineering support across rail system assets and helps ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while driving continuous system improvement.

This role leads and supports a wide range of engineering projects, including component and material replacement, maintenance service improvements, and construction-related upgrades. The Senior Systems Engineer uses system data and field insights to monitor asset health, identify improvement opportunities, solve complex technical issues, and recommend solutions ranging from part changes to fleet-wide enhancements.

The position works closely with maintenance teams, contractors, consultants, and other engineering disciplines, requiring strong technical judgment, project management capability, and the ability to deliver practical, effective solutions in a dynamic operating environment.

Light Rail Vehicle Maintenance
Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) Maintenance is located at the Guadalupe Light Rail Division. LRV Maintenance is responsible for timely and reliable maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspections, repair and servicing of light rail vehicles and service equipment.

After a light rail vehicle returns from revenue service at the end of each day, Maintenance performs an interior inspection/walk-through of the vehicle, analyzes the Operator Defect Card, performs a visual inspection of the vehicle undercarriage, performs exterior and interior cleaning, cleans and repairs windows and seating, and removes and repairs graffiti and vandalism.

Regular preventive maintenance is performed at prescheduled cycles every 10,000, 30,000, 60,000, and 120,000 miles to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, safety and reliability. Running Repair/Corrective Maintenance repairs items identified by Operators during the daily operation of an LRV. The normal service life of VTA's light rail vehicle fleet is about 30 years and the major vehicle components are overhauled in a 3-phase program to achieve this lifespan. After 120,000 miles, contacts and the air system, including brake boxes and subcomponents, are overhauled. After 240,000 miles, major components including the motor alternator, gear box, traction motor, pantographs, coupler assembly, trucks, sub-assemblies, and axle bearing assemblies are overhauled. The air conditioning system, car body paint and furnishings, major electronic components, roof resistors and PC boards are overhauled every 7 to 10 years as needed.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Under direction, the Senior Systems Engineer plans, organizes, and directs varied and difficult electrified rail engineering work performed by staff and consultants, and provides technical assistance in systems engineering to rail operating managers.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Equipment Parts Technician in the Public Works Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to plan, monitor, and manage the ordering, purchasing, storing, billing, issuing and maintenance control of equipment parts, accessories and supplies utilized in the service and repair of the City vehicles and equipment and to perform other related duties.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequent walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and bending at the waist. Ability to hear automotive sounds, read fine print, and view a computer monitor. Sufficient strength and stamina to lift and transport parts weighing up to 80 pounds. Manual dexterity for detailed mechanical work and computer use. 

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed indoors and outdoors with exposure to hot and cold environments. Noise level ranges from moderate to high. Potential exposure to hazardous materials and emergency conditions. Must be available to work evening and weekend shifts.

GENERAL INFO 

Under general supervision, the Recreation Leader I/II provides essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program support, and minor maintenance duties at various facilities, including parks and community centers. This temporary, parttime position requires working up to 20 hours per week. The role involves ensuring the facilities are clean, safe, and operational while delivering excellent customer service. FACILITY ATTENDANT LEAD (Illustrative purposes only)

• Greet patrons, and provide information on programs, rentals, schedules, rules, and policies.
• Organize, inventory, and maintain facility materials and equipment. 
• Open, close, and secure facilities, including locking gates and setting alarms.
• Set up and tear down tables, chairs, and equipment according to event/program requirements.

GENERAL INFO

Under general supervision, the Service Desk staff provides essential support to the San Bruno RAC by performing front desk operations, assisting members and visitors, and supporting daily facility functions. This temporary, part-time position requires working up to 20 hours per week. The role involves delivering excellent customer service, processing memberships and program registrations, handling payments, and providing information about facility programs and policies. Service Desk staff may also perform facility attendant duties and assist with other tasks as assigned to ensure the smooth operation, safety, and cleanliness of the facility.

UNIVERSAL POSITION DUTIES (Illustrative purposes only)

• Provide friendly and professional customer service to members, participants, and visitors.
• Assist with front desk operations, program registration, and payments.
• Supervise and engage participants in recreational programs, camps, and activities.
• Set up, maintain, and clean activity areas, equipment, and event spaces.
• Monitor facility use and help enforce safety policies and rules.
• Support program operations and collaborate with staff to ensure smooth facility operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support programs, events, and the RAC.

• Check members and visitors into the facility and verify membership status.
• Process memberships, renewals, holds, and cancellations according to RAC policies.
• Register patrons for classes, programs, and activities offered at the RAC.
• Answer phones, emails, and in-person inquiries regarding facility schedules, programs, memberships, and policies.
• Process payments for memberships, programs, and facility services while following proper cash-handling procedures.
• Provide accurate information about RAC rules, policies, and services to ensure a safe and positive experience for all patrons.
• Monitor access to the facility and help ensure members and guests follow RAC guidelines.
• Address patron questions or concerns and escalate issues to supervisors when necessary.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional service desk area.
• Assist with distributing program information, schedules, and promotional materials.
• Support daily administrative tasks including account updates, data entry, and record keeping.
• Work collaboratively with other RAC staff to ensure smooth daily operations of the facility.
• Assist other RAC teams (Facility Attendants, Programs, Aquatic) and assist with other tasks as assigned to support the overall operation of the RAC.
