The primary role of the ACFM is to serve as technical assistant to the Civilian Fire Marshal interpreting and enforcing the provisions of the fire, building and municipal codes of the city particularly as they pertain to fire and life safety of new construction and fire protection systems; manage the Fire Protection Engineering Unit of the Department of Public Safety; and serve as the primary liaison with the design community.
