Overview: 

The Engineering Technician will assist in conducting field investigations in encamped areas and producing Encampment Risk Assessments (with associated maps, description, police reports, photos, other necessary documentation) to document encampment abatements for management review. The position also assists in posting legally mandated flyers for encampment cleanups and/or abatements, in responding to a significant number of public inquiries regarding encampments, and assisting in scheduling encampment cleanups. This role will assist the Field Operations Administrator (FOA) in the enforcement of the Water Resources Protection Zones Ordinance, which prohibits unauthorized camping on Valley Water property.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Conduct site visits to encamped areas on Valley Water properties to note encampment conditions relative to guidelines established in the Water Resources Protections Zones Ordinance, as well as trash and biowaste locations. Capture information in encampment risk assessment database and customized GIS Data collection tools.
• Respond to encampment-related public requests by phone, email, and online via the Access Valley Water portal. These responses will usually entail site visits, research into property ownership via GIS, and referencing and/or modifying crew work schedules. Responses to issues noted outside of Valley Water property often result in communication and coordination with partner agencies.
• Respond to encampment-related requests from internal Valley Water staff. 
• Plan encampment cleanups and abatements by creating work orders using Maximo software. As needed, support the Field Construction Supervisor with weekly crew scheduling needs. Once abatements and cleanups have been scheduled, assist the Field Operations Administrator with posting required notices prior to work being performed.
• Contribute to staff safety by tracking dangerous incidents utilizing GIS tools and requesting crew support from internal security staff and law enforcement partners.

Integrated Field Operations Unit (Position Code 182)
Valley Water Telework Program: Eligibility for telework will depend on the type of work performed, operational needs, and the ability for the employee to perform the essential functions of their job duties while teleworking. Employment with Valley Water requires employees to live within 150 miles of their primary physical work location located in San Jose, California by their start date.

The City of Dixon is looking to fill one full-time, regular vacancy for the position of Wastewater System Operator I/II and to establish an eligibility list for future vacancies. This position will perform the operation and maintenance of the City of Dixon's ("City"), Grade III, activated sludge wastewater facility, laboratory facilities, industrial pre-treatment program related property and equipment.

This position includes field, laboratory and office activities. Field activities involve exposure to noxious odors, dangerous gases, strong acids, heights, confined spaces, extremes in weather conditions, hazardous materials, airborne particles, noise, water hazards, heavy equipment operation and traffic hazards. Wastewater System Operator I: This is the entry level class in the Wastewater Systems Operator series and requires a Grade I Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate issued by the State of California.

Wastewater System Operator II: This is the journey level class in the Wastewater Systems Operator series and requires a Grade II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate issued by the State of California and is a fully qualified plant operator certified to independently operate a grade III wastewater treatment facility.

About the Roles

 

The duties of the Maintenance Workers include, but are not limited to,

• Inspects and/or repairs equipment at frequent intervals to ensure that all aspects of the equipment are safe and functioning safely.

• Maintains a variety of records relating to inspections, maintenance activity, materials supply, consumption, etc.
• Determines and marks the locations of system wirings and stormwater and water lines from the appropriate sources prior to excavation.
• Responds to complaints regarding functional areas; evaluates situation; explains findings to supervisor. Functional areas for Public Works include street conditions, street signs, storm water system problems, traffic signals and street lighting.  Functional areas for Community Services include tree conditions, ball field conditions, irrigation system problems, park, building and ball field lighting.
• Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.
• Safely operates vehicles of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, and other job functions. For Public Works, this includes gravel, sand, concrete, asphalt and base rock.  For Community Services, this includes soil and sand and performing tree work.
• Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor; cleans equipment.
• Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
• Performs required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew.  For Public Works, this includes pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, main and pipe repair, laying pipe, trenching and backfilling.  For Community Services, this includes laying pipe, trenching and backfilling, maintaining ball fields including original layouts such as installation and leveling of surfaces; base positioning and installation; and layout of all field markings.

• Performs other duties as assigned.  

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Maintenance Worker I:
Graduation from high school education or GED equivalent.

 

Maintenance Worker II:
Graduation from high school education or GED equivalent, and a minimum of two (2) years street, stormwater or parks maintenance work experience.

 

Valid California driver’s license. Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain a valid Class "B" Commercial Drivers license by completion of probationary period.

 

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is currently $67,660 to $95,526. These are represented positions.

About the Position:  The Seasonal Facilities Open Space Technician is part of the Facilities & Fleet Department and assists with routine and nonroutine repairs and improvements at Midpen’s Administrative Office, field offices, and residences. This position works closely under the guidance of the facilities team performing preventative maintenance tasks, repairs, and minor improvement projects. This position is also responsible for operating hand and power tools to do semi-skilled carpentry, construction tasks. The position will require either knowing or having the aptitude to learn basic painting, plumbing, electrical, and general carpentry tasks while assisting in the capacity of a helper and must also be able to demonstrate basic mechanical aptitude. Additional duties include cleanup, routine maintenance in buildings and restrooms, and other tasks as required. Coveralls & personal protective equipment (PPE) are provided. Seasonal employees are provided with a uniform. Start date will be in early July 2026 and the selected individual will continue working through January 2027. Requirements:  Basic requirements include high school diploma or G.E.D.; possession of a valid California driver’s license; skills to perform basic construction and maintenance assignments; ability to perform manual labor requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting; and the ability to work in, or around, poison oak. Highly desirable traits include experience in construction, maintenance, and/or repair of buildings, structures and/or related facilities, and/or prior work experience in a park, forest, or public recreation area involving work with equipment and hand tools used in park/facilities maintenance.  Candidates selected for the position will be required to successfully pass and obtain a certification in Basic First Aid/CPR, AED for Lay Responders.   

 

Schedules: This is a full-time (preferred), Monday through Friday position working on a 9/80 schedule, with occasional weekend and holiday work as needed. Seasonal assignments will not exceed 950 hours or 7 months, whichever comes first, and do not include benefits. Seasonal Open Space Technicians are expected to work a minimum of 6 consecutive months.

 

Working Conditions: While most work will focus on the maintenance and operations of Midpen’s Administrative Office, responsibilities will also extend to project work at field offices and facilities, district owned and managed residential housing, historic properties, ranch infrastructure, and public buildings such as Midpen’s Daniels Nature Center. When conducting field assignments, work may include traversing rough, difficult terrain in inclement or hot weather with exposure to poison oak, wildlife and rodent inhabitants.  Duties will include building and facility work that will require climbing ladders and entering confined spaces.  Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in these types of conditions, as well as in an office environment. Positions in this classification must possess the ability to lift and carry materials and objects weighing up to 60 pounds and must possess the ability to push and pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds, with the use of proper equipment. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.

Temporary Maintenance Worker – Parks & Roadsides 

Salary: $20.00/hour

 

DEFINITION 

Perform a variety of general maintenance services for parks and roadsides and other areas as assigned within the Town.   

 

• This is a part-time temporary, non-benefitted position. 
• Flexible schedule up to 29 hours per week, which may include weekend work; not to exceed 950 hours per calendar year. 
• The schedule for this position would be Monday-Thursday. 

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED 

General supervision is received from the Maintenance Supervisor. May exercise supervision of Work Alternative Program participants as assigned.

• Clean up trash in and around Town-maintained park and roadside areas. 
• Operate a variety of equipment, including: half ton and three-quarter ton trucks, Cushman and golf cart (or similar) vehicles, blowers and other two-cycle equipment, and hand tools (i.e., shovel, rake, hoe, etc.). 
• Periodically groom sports fields and bocce ball courts with equipment and/or machinery provided. 
• Prepare baseball fields and bocce ball courts for league play. 
• Assist Maintenance Services personnel on assigned projects.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

To operate a computer aided dispatch (CAD) and radio system, receiving calls and dispatching public safety equipment and personnel, and maintaining public safety records and reports.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Serves as a relief Public Safety Dispatcher. The Reserve Dispatcher performs the routine tasks and duties assigned to Public Safety Dispatchers working on-call and subject to various shifts and workday assignments including nights, weekends and holidays.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives immediate supervision from sworn or other supervisory personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Receive emergency and non-emergency telephone calls from the public and other jurisdictions.

·         Dispatch police personnel and equipment in response to such calls; transfer fire and medical                communications to appropriate agencies.

Those applicants who meet the employment qualifications will be contacted via email regarding next steps in the recruitment process, a comprehensive multitasking test that assesses memory recall, map reading, spelling, sentence clarity, reading comprehension and data entry. SELECTION PROCESS

THE POSITION

The Police Dispatcher/Clerk is a non-sworn technical and complex clerical support classification associated with law enforcement support services assigned in the Town Police Department.  Police Dispatcher/Clerks learn and perform a variety of responsible records management, communications and dispatching duties for emergency and non-emergency calls for service. 

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Dispatches police officers to calls for service
• Provides assistance, information and directions to non-emergency callers including but not limited to police, fire, paramedic, animal control and public utilities calls for service, forwards non-emergency calls to proper personnel or departments
• Maintains awareness of field unit activities; communicates with field units through radio in accordance with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations; maintains status and location of units on patrol
• Retrieves information from State and National computer networks regarding wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, stolen vehicles and other related information
• Enters call information into computer systems; logs and completes call forms, maintains records of calls for service and self-initiated officer activities
• Assists the public at the front counter; provides information and responds to general inquiries
• Performs other related duties as assigned
