AFTER SCHOOL COMMUNITY SERVICES ASSISTANT (ASCSA) I & III

DEFINITION: Under supervision, staff will perform duties in our After School Program consisting of an educational, enrichment and recreational environment. Work schedule will NOT exceed 28 hours per week; schedule is generally 11am – 6pm (varies from site to site), Monday through Friday and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualified applicants will be invited to test or asked to provide official documentation to verify they meet the educational requirements.

TESTING FOR THIS RECRUITMENT IS TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, MARCH 19, 2020.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE FOR ASCSA I:

• A minimum of six (6) months organized recreation, school aged child care, or teaching.
• Ability to successfully lead a group of 20 or more students in both an educational and recreational setting.
• Knowledge of positive behavior guidance techniques and the ability to use them appropriately.
• Ability to create a fun and engaging educational environment for elementary and middle school aged youth.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE FOR ASCSA III (SITE LEAD) POSITION:

• A minimum of two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in education, school aged recreational programming or a closely related field including supervisory experience.
• Ability to successfully lead a program with up to 5 additional staff members and up to 100 youth in attendance daily; Knowledge of after school program best practices and ability to implement them appropriately.
• Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with school site personnel, staff, participants, and parents regarding program policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The incumbent must have the ability to:

• Work with students in reading, spelling, mathematics, and other subjects, assist with computer skills: Assist in supervising and organizing recreation activities; distribute, monitor, and maintain equipment/supplies.
• Assist in monitoring program compliance with laws, rules, and regulations; Supervise children/participants at park site or facility; lead group activities; Recommend and/or assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; implement policies and procedures.
• Provide information and referrals to program participants, school officials and community groups regarding program being offered; operate a computer and related software; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
• Perform any other tasks or functions deemed necessary to the daily operations of the employer.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Position requires prolonged standing, sitting, walking on level or unleveled and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. Incumbents may be required to lift, carry and/or push objects weighing 25 pounds or more. This position requires near and far vision for reading written documents and in the observation of participants during activities. Acute hearing is also required in providing customer service to public and /or assistance in facility, classroom, or outdoors.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:  In addition to the required minimum experience, all positions must have knowledge of teaching curriculum or learning based programs.  EDUCATION: Completion of 12th grade or equivalent; ALSO 2 or 4 year degree from an accredited college OR completion of two (2) years of higher education (48 semester/72 quarter units) OR completion of FUSD Paraprofessional testing.

THE POSITION

The Human Resources Department is accepting applications for the temporary and part-time position of Recreation Aide in the Parks, Recreation, & Libraries Department. THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT

Fremont’s Human Services Department (HSD) is nationally and internationally recognized for its innovation and effective programs. HSD works to sustain the City’s social service infrastructure which promotes a healthy and safe environment for all residents. THE POSITION

The City of Fremont is seeking a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Administrator to be a part of the HSD management team. The City of Fremont receives federal CDBG and HOME funds to support infrastructure, programs and services for low and moderate-income residents. It also administers the Rent Review Ordinance (RRO) Program.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

- Provide administrative oversight for the CDBG, HOME and RRO programs
- Support and maintain the City’s Rent Review Board and Citizens Advisory Committee
- Work closely with stakeholders to prepare the City’s annual CDBG grant application
- With Citizens Advisory Committee input, develop CDBG recommendations for consideration by the City Council
- Oversee ongoing CDBG capital and public service projects to ensure compliance with contract conditions and with Federal labor, environmental and prevailing wage regulations
- Work collaboratively with social service and housing staff to identify housing rehabilitation needs, and oversee contract for housing rehabilitation
- Oversee ongoing City HOME projects, including the Stay Housed tenant-based rental assistance program
- Prepare, maintain and present annual CDBG, HOME and RRO budget and program reports to City Council
- Maintain strong working relationships the local non-profit community, landlord stakeholders, and tenant rights     organizations
- Represent HSD at community meetings and conduct workshops with topics such as “Landlord Rights and Responsibilities,” “Fair Housing 101,” and “Tenant Rights and Responsibilities”
- Administer contracts with fair housing, mediation, and landlord/tenant service provider(s)

THE POSITION

Tri-City is actively recruiting for one part-time vacancy for a Wellness Advocate I for the Wellness Center.  The Wellness Advocate I will provide advocacy, guidance, feedback, outreach and support to help families to access and work more efficiently with the systems involved.   The Wellness Advocate will report to an Employment Outreach Supervisor.

The Medical Assistant will assist licensed medical staff by providing client services that include basic administrative, clerical, or medical support services for mentally ill and emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient clinical setting.  This position will report to the Crisis Intervention and Medication Support Manager.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Coverage for Garey site Medical Assistant; process Medi-Cal and insurance verification;
• Reconcile verification of ambulance and labs, pharmacy invoices, medication list, pharmacy refill follow-up documents, authorizations and TARS, data gathered from treatment nurse, medication consents (including obtaining consents);
• Medication pick up; filtering pharmacy and lab calls; faxing of insurance, notes and CBC’s as appropriate;
• Monitoring treatment plan expiration dates to ensure compliance; ordering supplies; monitoring SHARPS container and medical disposal;
• Scheduling in-services with pharmaceutical agencies, second medical transport as needed, fielding non-clinical, medication questions, appointments and reminder phone calls;
• Various clerical support duties such as copying, securing signatures and data entry;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

DEFINITION

To perform semi-skilled and skilled duties in the trimming, maintenance, and planting of City trees.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the journey level class in the Tree Trimmer series and is distinguished from the I level by the ability to perform the full range of duties assigned with only occasional instruction or assistance as unusual or unique situations arise. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level. This class is distinguished from the Senior Tree Trimmer in that the latter performs advanced journey level work and provides technical and functional supervision to assigned staff

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from an assigned supervisor; receives technical and functional supervision from the Senior Tree Trimmer or Arborist Technician.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Using aerial lift and through skilled climbing, trim and structurally prune trees to provide clearance of streets, sidewalks, signs and lights as well as to ensure the continued health of the trees.
• Perform tree trimming using chainsaws, hand/pole saws and loppers; remove trees, stumps, hangers, branches and related debris; perform stump grinding and plant healthcare duties.
• Plant, spray, stake and maintain trees on City owned property and in the public right-of–way.
• Operate tree trimming and maintenance equipment such as boom trucks, chippers, stump grinders, and power tools, such as chain saws and hydraulic loppers.
• Clean, sharpen, maintain tools, ropes, and other tree maintenance equipment.
• Collect debris from tree trimming and removal operations into piles, using shovels, rakes, or other tools.
• Load debris onto trucks or into chipper and haul it away for disposal.
• Inspect trees for public safety and wildlife; respond to requests and inquiries from the general public.
• Identify equipment needs for each assigned project.
• Utilize proper safety precautions related to work performed.
• Work multiple shifts during emergencies, seasonally caused circumstances, or special projects in varying climate and temperature conditions.
• Perform general natural resource maintenance work when not assigned to tree trimming duties.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
• Operate tree trimming and maintenance equipment such as boom trucks, chippers, stump grinder, dump trucks, and power tools, such as chain saws and hydraulic loppers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

• Safety rules and work practices used in operating and maintaining tree maintenance equipment and trucks.

Experience and Training

Experience:

• One year of increasingly responsible experience performing tree trimming and maintenance duties, including demonstrated ability to climb trees.

Training:

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, GED, or higher level degree.

License or Certificate

• Possession of a valid California driver’s license by date of appointment.
• Possession of a valid California driver’s class B license by date of promotion or appointment.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael is hiring for the temporary position of Parks Maintenance Worker in the Public Works Department.  This is a full-time temporary position working 37.5 hours per week under general supervision.  Maximum hours worked per fiscal year not to exceed 1,000 hours.  Duties include, but are not limited to: cleaning restrooms, picking up and disposing of debris; mowing and edging turf; pruning shrubs and groundcovers, cleaning asphalt surfaces; general landscaping maintenance; and minor building maintenance and repair.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to operate mowers, edgers, backpack blower, small athletic tractor and weed eaters; work flexible time; follow written and oral assignments with a minimum of supervision and work with moderate public contact.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:                       

Graduation from high school or equivalent.  Must have excellent reading and communication skills; prior experience in the operation of power-driven equipment or previous maintenance experience is desirable but not required.  Must be capable of heavy manual labor, including the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and be able to show proof of eligibility to work.  Must possess a valid California driver’s license.
