The Facilities Management Division of the Public Works Department is seeking to fill two (2) overstrength Communications Installer positions. These positions are funded through June 30th, 2020, with an anticipated extension through fiscal year 2020-2021.
Under general supervision of the Senior Automotive Equipment Specialist, typical duties of the Communications Installer include installing 2-way radios into a variety of vehicles, including but not limited to Police vehicles and motorcycles, Fire department apparatus and other city department vehicles.

Under the general direction of the Fire Chief or Shift Captain, a Resident Support Volunteer is a support role position that may perform administrative office functions and provide support for services administered by the department. They will be active members within the Volunteer Firefighters Association and provide support to the activities and fundraising events within the community.
IT, a division of the Administrative Services Department, is divided into two teams: Software Development, and Endpoint and Infrastructure. Software Development involves writing and supporting software that enables City staff to deliver services more efficiently. Endpoint and Infrastructure is responsible for infrastructure, desktop, and mobile devices used throughout the City.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of San José is recruiting for an IT Manager (Information Systems Analyst) in the Public Works Department. As a technical lead, this position will be responsible for overseeing and managing client-devices and day-to-day Customer Support services.
The City of San José believes in the model of utilizing technology as a means for increased optimization as well as cost savings. With significant technology refresh and upgrade, there is a greater need for highly skilled technical hands-on leadership, oversight and technical project management.
This is an advanced journey level technical classification reporting to the Information Systems Manager. Under general supervision, the Information Systems Specialist provides complex technical support including network maintenance, setup, operation, and control of information systems hardware and software, and telecommunications activities, and supporting the Police Department. Employee may be required to work on-call, extended/off hours, holidays, and weekends. If assigned to the Police Department then a Police background and polygraph may be conducted.
