The Public Works Department is recruiting to fill several Event Services Representative (Recreation Leader – Part Time Unbenefited) positions to support the coordination of events occurring at City Hall. The ideal candidates will possess a high level of professionalism, excellent customer service skills, and a strong work ethic. The position requires excellent judgment, initiative, independence, integrity, organizational skills, flexibility, and written and verbal communication skills.  

Event Services Representatives assist in monitoring and providing customer/client support for special events. Event Services Representatives maybe required to provide technical assistance and set up of equipment on day of event, assist in resolving customer issues and complaints, and respond to emergency situations during events. The on-site Event Services Representative coordinates with event staff such as ushers, ticket takers, security, crowd control, outside contractors, and performs facility safety checks which may include enforcing Safety and Fire Marshall Regulations.  

Due to the nature of the job responsibilities, Event Services Representatives must be able to:  

• Work extended/irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. 

• Stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. 

• Lift and carry items weighing between 25 and 50 pounds on an as needed basis.

The Placer County Community Development Resource Agency is seeking applications to fill one (1) full-time Long-Range Senior Planner vacancy on the Long-Range Planning team. This position performs a variety of complex, long-range planning functions, including supporting development of the General Plan update and Housing Element implementation and will support a Principal Planner and the Planning Director in fulfilling the role. This position can be based out of either the Auburn or Tahoe City office.

Key duties include:

• Assist in updating the County’s General Plan, including drafting and developing policy and code, permitting policies and/or development standards, and implementation strategies, as well as performing legislation review and education.
• Support work efforts centered around housing, including zoning code updates, policy development, permitting policies and/or development standards, legislation review and education, and implementation strategies.

Planning Services currently offers a hybrid remote work environment and alternative work schedules. This position requires occasional work outside of normal working hours, such as evenings and weekends, to attend and participate in community and/or staff decision-maker meetings and also requires travel to various countywide locations, including both the Auburn and Tahoe City offices, for a variety of meetings and hearings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible planning experience performing duties similar to those of an Associate Planner.

TRAINING
Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in urban, regional, or environmental planning, or a related field.

General

The Principal Transportation Planner, Multimodal Corridor Programs will report to the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (SMCTA) Manager, Planning and Fund Management, and will be responsible for leading strategic planning initiatives for the Corridor Connect Program, managing the Highway Program Call for Projects, and leading major multimodal safety and congestion relief planning projects. This Principal Transportation Planner will work in partnership with jurisdiction staff across San Mateo County to support local agencies with complex transportation projects, community engagement, and grant or funding strategy development. This role will also support the Planning & Fund Management team members with other SMCTA managed programs, as needed, including the Pedestrian & Bicycle Program and Transportation Demand Management Program. 

Essential Functions & Duties

Examples of Essential Functions: 

• Coordinate on-going initiatives and programmatic activities, monitor progress of priority projects, and communicate updates regularly to stakeholder groups along SMCTA Corridor Connect major highways include US 101, El Camino Real, and Highway 1   
• Manage complex and multi-disciplinary planning projects, or significant portions of such projects, involving a high level of technical complexity, public visibility, and coordination with numerous stakeholders.
• Compile, arrange, analyze, and interpret transportation, demographic and financial data, and presenting them in both quantitative and qualitative formats.
• Facilitate public meetings/workshops and assist with promoting community-based organization partnerships in planning efforts.
• Provide technical assistance to stakeholder agencies on various transportation subject areas by leading projects on behalf of outside agencies, managing consultant contracts, and providing strategic guidance on an as needed basis.

• Work collaboratively with internal and external teams to help advance and support mobility initiatives with a focus on multimodal safety and congestion relief for highways and major arterials.

• Develop and present oral reports in relation to SMCTA planning and program initiatives.

• Establish and maintain working relationships with key partners at the local, regional, and state levels.  

• Assist with the development of strategic planning efforts.

• Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in providing professional-level multimodal transportation planning and concept designs. 

• Knowledge of transportation planning and/or engineering for bicycle/pedestrian, transit, transportation demand management, multimodal highways and the environmental process for transportation projects is preferred.
• Knowledge of Caltrans Local Assistance Procedures Manual and best practice design standards such as NACTO, AASHTO, and other sources.
• Knowledge of local, regional, state, and federal grant funding opportunities.  
• Experience with GIS and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proven experience utilizing analytical, written and verbal communication and presentation skills at many different levels of an organization.

Senior Real Estate Agent is the first line supervisory classification in the Real Estate job series. Development of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is typically obtained through a combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration, finance, real estate, or a related field; and five years of increasingly responsible experience in the appraisal, acquisition, relocation, design, financing, construction, and/or management of real property, with at least two years in a project lead or supervisory capacity.

Experience in acquisition of property for public use or experience with public-private development on public property is desirable.

Position Duties

The Position

The Town of Los Altos Hills is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Principal Planner to serve as a key leader within the Community Development Department. Reporting to the Community Development Director, the Principal Planner will assist in the management and administration of planning operations, provide leadership and technical guidance to planning staff, coordinate consultant resources, and oversee the Town's most complex current and long-range planning initiatives.

• Coordinates multidisciplinary project reviews involving Planning, Building, Engineering, Fire, Public Works, and outside agencies.
• Provides technical guidance and recommendations regarding planning, zoning, and development issues.

Environmental Review and Project Management

• Oversees and coordinates environmental review activities pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
• Manages consultant preparation of Initial Studies, Negative Declarations, Mitigated Negative Declarations, Environmental Impact Reports, and related environmental documents.
• Develops project scopes, budgets, schedules, and consultant contracts.
• Monitors project progress and ensures timely completion of assigned planning initiatives.

Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Coordination

• Prepares and presents staff reports, ordinances, resolutions, policy analyses, and recommendations to the Planning Commission, City Council, and advisory committees.
• Represents the Town in meetings with residents, property owners, developers, consultants, regulatory agencies, and community organizations.
• Responds to public inquiries regarding planning policies, development proposals, and land use regulations.
• Facilitates community outreach and public engagement efforts related to planning projects and policy initiatives.
• Coordinates with regional agencies and partner organizations on planning and environmental initiatives.

Qualifications

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in urban planning, city planning, environmental planning, public administration, architecture, geography, or a closely related field.

Eight (8) years of increasingly responsible professional planning experience, including substantial experience managing complex planning projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and leading policy development and implementation efforts.

Experience in both current planning and long-range planning is highly desirable.

A master's degree in urban planning, public administration, environmental planning, or a related field is desirable.

Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is preferred. Candidates without AICP certification must demonstrate equivalent senior-level professional planning experience and expertise.

Demonstrated experience with Housing Element implementation, General Plan updates, Safety Element planning, wildfire resilience, climate adaptation, zoning administration, CEQA compliance, consultant management, and public engagement processes is highly desirable.

Experience supervising, mentoring, or providing technical leadership to professional planning staff is desirable.

Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record.

DEFINITION

The City of Live Oak Internship Program is designed to attract, develop and mentor innovative individuals interested in pursuing a career in the public sector. The program seeks dedicated students who, through their academic achievement and/or employment history, have demonstrated high potential for a career in local government. Interns are encouraged to apply for full-time positions with the City after their internship is completed.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

Interns generally work under close supervision and perform simple or routine tasks while learning to perform the more difficult and responsible ones. Interns are hired as limited term employees and employment service is dependent on the length of the project or the particular City service needs.

Intern positions are by their nature temporary employment and Interns are not eligible for City benefit programs unless specifically approved in writing by the City Manager.

The work schedule is typically part-time 15-20 hours per week with flexibility to work 30 to 40 hours per week depending on the needs of the Intern and the City program assigned. Interns with significant experience in their assigned area may be eligible to move along the assigned Salary Band with the specific approval of the City Manager.

Intern positions are not permanently funded and may be terminated at any time.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• May review and route routine planning documents, petitions, permits, packets and records; analyze environmental checklists and environmental information forms and make specific recommendations following department procedures;
• May assist professional and technical staff with special projects including surveying, data gathering and reporting, analyses and computerized report presentations;
• May respond to basic inquiries from the general public and resolve issues related to the City's planning and zoning procedures and specific permits; research and provide information to City staff and the general public regarding land use issues and standard environmental documentation;
• May perform a variety of activities relating to the development of financial and statistical reporting, including accumulating, analyzing and tracking of revenues and expenditures; analyzes financial trends and develops projections of costs and funding opportunities.
• May conduct surveys, research, and analysis of various departmental issues; may update procedure and policy manuals;
• May answer phones and/or assist the public or others including such tasks as taking messages, responding to questions or requests for assistance, screening and referring to sources of information, providing forms and explaining procedures for completion;
• May prepare bills, orders, notes and receipts, permits, licenses; perform basic arithmetic operations; receive fees when the amount is readily obtainable by simple computations, or from fixed schedules; post data, keep records, and prepare statistical or other types of reports in accordance with predetermined forms and procedures.
