The City of Marysville seeks a multi-tasking, collaborative team player to work in a fast-paced environment which requires juggling a variety of duties and assignments, while supporting the Administration and Finance Department.  Specifically, tasks will include:

• Prepares and processes necessary forms for new hires, workers compensation claims; conducts interviews to obtain information for personnel processing and assists in completing forms; orients new employees.
• Prepares payroll documents for employees and benefit changes; acts a liaison between employees, insurance carriers or retirement system to solve problems and answer questions; refers employees to the proper source for information.
• Reviews payroll documents and tracks performance management by following the City’s procedures.
• Prepares, maintains, or monitors various personnel and risk management programs including worker's compensation, safety, random drug testing and insurance.
• Prepares and processes benefit administration documents, including vendor premium invoices and employee enrollment forms.
• Audits benefit systems for both retired and active employees to ensure accuracy and promptly corrects any errors.
• Provides personnel and risk management information related to procedures, policy, rules, regulations and laws to employees, other organizations, and the public.
• Actively participates in and may lead citywide training in human resource subject areas.
• Conducts research; compiles and prepares statistical information, charts and graphs, and periodic and special reports regarding personnel department activities including classification specification comparisons to determine if other agencies have classifications comparable with Yuba City; responds to salary surveys.
• Plans and participates in recruitment and selection processes; prepares job announcements, advertising materials, places media and internet ads.
• Screens applications to determine that qualifications are met.
• Assists in the preparation and administration of exams, arranges for oral appraisal panels, prepares letters and informational packages for oral boards and briefs members; schedules candidates for testing and interview processes.
• Maintains the applicant tracking system, notifies candidates of the selection procedure results, computes scores, and prepares eligibility lists and certifications.

• May provide administrative support to the City Clerk’s office.
• Promotes City wide wellness programs and organizational culture.
• Interprets, applies, and explains applicable City codes, policies and state and federal laws and regulations.

Hiring for two (2) immediate positions in the Departments of: 

Community Development Department

The Community Development Department is comprised of three divisions: Planning, Building, and Housing and Community Services. In general, the Department guides the ongoing physical development of the community, to ensure that construction conforms to the standards of the City and State. Within the Department, the Planning Division in the Community Development Department is responsible for reviewing proposed development projects in the City as well as Code Enforcement activities to enhance the community’s safety, welfare, quality of life, and economic opportunities. Specific activities within the Division include implementation of the City’s Short-Term Rental program, administration of the 6th Cycle Housing Element, El Camino Real Specific Plan revisions, and Santa Clara Station Area Specific Plan. The Office Specialist III will be essential to the administration and fiscal functions of the Division. This position is responsible for payment processing in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), compilation and preparation of data with preliminary analysis to support budget and State reporting requirements, and permitting process improvements. The position will also support personnel and administrative tasks such as website updates and activities related to retention of records.

The Position: 

This advanced secretarial class is distinguished from other City office support classes in that incumbents normally report to division head or higher City position with responsibilities involving the frequent use of tact, discretion, initiative, and independent judgment.  Responsibilities include regular contact with government officials, City Council or board or commission members, representatives of business or community organizations, the public, and all levels of City personnel to exchange information and explain administrative policies and procedures.

The Office Specialist III works under general supervision and is expected to work within established procedures and policies of the work unit. An employee in this class performs a variety of administrative assignments related to the execution of administrative detail and assisting in departmental administrative service areas. An Office Specialist III may act as a lead to lower-level clerical classifications, but is primarily an individual contributor with a high level of expertise in generalized office administration. This classification performs advanced administrative assignments involving budget preparation and maintenance, research and data analysis, use of permitting software, payroll, and other clerical support as required.

THE POSITION:

Program Assistant: Adults and Seniors

Salary Range: $18.52 - $30.68/hour, depending on experience.

DEFINITION

Assists in the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of programs, events, and services in a designated area of Recreation Arts and Community Services. Provides highly organized and responsible administrative and programmatic support to the Program Coordinator, including assistance with internal programs, volunteer coordination, and preparation of the quarterly activity guide, etc. Recommends and coordinates the purchase of program supplies and equipment. Helps foster and maintain positive relationships within the community to enhance program offerings and engagement.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties are inclusive of, but not limited to, the following:

• Assist in the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of innovative programs, events, and services for older adults.
• Provide administrative and programmatic support to the Program Coordinator and Supervisor, including internal events, volunteer programs, and special initiatives such as Buzz Sessions.
• Deliver excellent customer service by responding to inquiries, processing registrations, and assisting with facility reservations and general front desk operations at the Danville Senior Center.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicant must be at least 18 years old.  Receive satisfactory results from a background investigation and fingerprinting. Provide written proof of a negative TB test before the appointment.

• Recreational programs, developmentally appropriate group activities, and applicable health and safety regulations.
• Record keeping practices and procedures; office practices, procedures, and equipment.

Ability to:

• Pay attention to detail and accuracy within events and programming.
• Understand and follow oral and written directions; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and members of the public.
• Build relationships and compose correspondence with outside vendors for internal programming and volunteering.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Education:

Graduation from high school or equivalent is required, with college-level coursework completed in Recreation, Human Development, Education, or a related field preferred. 

Experience:

The City of Mill Valley welcomes applications for Public Works Supervisor - Parks.

Under general direction, the Public Works Supervisor assigned to the Parks Division provides leadership and direction in maintaining and enhancing the City’s parks, landscapes, and athletic fields. This position plans, schedules, assigns, and supervises the work of a dedicated crew of seven (7) full-time Maintenance Workers who help keep the City’s outdoor spaces safe, beautiful, and sustainable.

The Supervisor oversees the daily and seasonal maintenance of high-quality athletic fields, irrigation systems, and park facilities, ensuring they meet the needs of both recreational users and organized sports programs. This includes planning and managing turf renovation, field preparation, irrigation repair and upgrades, and plumbing maintenance throughout the City’s parks and landscaped areas.

Serving as the City Arborist, this individual plays a vital role in caring for public trees and vegetation, working closely with the Fire Department, community groups, and other departments to implement the City’s tree maintenance and vegetation management programs.

Other key responsibilities include overseeing and maintaining the City’s gateway areas, medians, demonstration gardens, and other high-visibility landscape features; ensuring the effective operation of irrigation and drainage systems; and supporting the preservation and enhancement of the City’s cherished Steps, Lanes, and Paths network.

As a working supervisor, this position combines hands-on technical knowledge with strong leadership and team-building skills. The Supervisor is responsible for coaching, mentoring, and developing staff; fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and professional growth; and ensuring high standards of performance and service within the Parks Division.

IDEAL CANDIDATES for the Proofreader positions will have the following: 

Education: 

• Bachelor's degree or higher in proofreading, editing, journalism, translating, literature, or another related field. 

• Technical writing certificate or other related certification (preferred). 

Work Experience: 

• At least six months of experience proofreading documents and/or translating in the target language (English, Chinese, Filipino or Spanish).

Technical Skills:

Office hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. These positions WILL require weekend and evening work assignments, sometimes with short notice. The selected individuals MUST be available for the entire employment period until the completion of their assignment for the June 2, 2026, Statewide Direct Primary Election.

The San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division is seeking full-time seasonal extra-help Election Materials Proofreaders to assist in the upcoming June 2, 2026, Statewide Direct Primary Election. This is an excellent nonpartisan opportunity to be involved in the election process! 

We are currently seeking dedicated and hard-working individuals for the position of Proofreader. Proofreaders will be hired into one of four language-based teams (English, Chinese, Filipino, or Spanish). 

This announcement is for Spanish proofreaders. 

All Proofreaders will be responsible for proofreading and copyediting election materials leading up to established election deadlines. Proofreaders will review, edit, and proofread documents for accuracy, context, readability, and syntax.

Proofreaders will mostly work remotely using equipment provided by the Registration & Elections Division. Equipment must be picked up and returned to the Elections Office. Towards the end of the assignment, two days of on-site work will be required for final proofs of physical material.  

Important: Per County policy, employees of the County of San Mateo must reside in California.

Examples of projects and materials needing to be proofread include, but are not limited to: 

• Sample Ballot & Voter Information Pamphlet 

• Official Ballot 

• Remote Accessible Vote by Mail system

• Website content 

• Legal documents
