The City of Marysville seeks a multi-tasking, collaborative team player to work in a fast-paced environment which requires juggling a variety of duties and assignments, while supporting the Administration and Finance Department.  Specifically, tasks will include:

• Prepares and processes necessary forms for new hires, workers compensation claims; conducts interviews to obtain information for personnel processing and assists in completing forms; orients new employees.
• Prepares payroll documents for employees and benefit changes; acts a liaison between employees, insurance carriers or retirement system to solve problems and answer questions; refers employees to the proper source for information.
• Reviews payroll documents and tracks performance management by following the City’s procedures.
• Prepares, maintains, or monitors various personnel and risk management programs including worker's compensation, safety, random drug testing and insurance.
• Prepares and processes benefit administration documents, including vendor premium invoices and employee enrollment forms.
• Audits benefit systems for both retired and active employees to ensure accuracy and promptly corrects any errors.
• Provides personnel and risk management information related to procedures, policy, rules, regulations and laws to employees, other organizations, and the public.
• Actively participates in and may lead citywide training in human resource subject areas.
• Conducts research; compiles and prepares statistical information, charts and graphs, and periodic and special reports regarding personnel department activities including classification specification comparisons to determine if other agencies have classifications comparable with Yuba City; responds to salary surveys.
• Plans and participates in recruitment and selection processes; prepares job announcements, advertising materials, places media and internet ads.
• Screens applications to determine that qualifications are met.
• Assists in the preparation and administration of exams, arranges for oral appraisal panels, prepares letters and informational packages for oral boards and briefs members; schedules candidates for testing and interview processes.
• Maintains the applicant tracking system, notifies candidates of the selection procedure results, computes scores, and prepares eligibility lists and certifications.
• Assists in the Completion of annual reporting (ACA) and other benefit-based reporting e.g. Health Insurance based reporting, Deferred Compensation reporting, CalPERS reporting.
• Composing confidential correspondence, letters, and miscellaneous documents.
• Provides support to the City’s negotiations team by taking notes, conducting, and preparing research as directed, filing, and organizing bargaining related materials, formatting of bargaining unit contracts as well as initial contract edits.
• Provides support to a wide variety of City Boards including preparing correspondence, documents for personnel hearings, and setting up for the hearing and other Board functions.
• May provide administrative support to the City Clerk’s office.
• Promotes City wide wellness programs and organizational culture.
• Interprets, applies, and explains applicable City codes, policies and state and federal laws and regulations.
• May plan, organize, supervise, train, or coordinate the work of clerical staff.
• Maintain confidential City personnel files; maintains personnel office files.
• Assists in budget preparation and cost allocation; performs account support duties.
• Preparation of spreadsheets, data entry, processing mail and receiving and screening visitors and telephone calls.

The City of Mill Valley welcomes applications for Public Works Supervisor - Parks.

Under general direction, the Public Works Supervisor assigned to the Parks Division provides leadership and direction in maintaining and enhancing the City’s parks, landscapes, and athletic fields. This position plans, schedules, assigns, and supervises the work of a dedicated crew of seven (7) full-time Maintenance Workers who help keep the City’s outdoor spaces safe, beautiful, and sustainable.

The Supervisor oversees the daily and seasonal maintenance of high-quality athletic fields, irrigation systems, and park facilities, ensuring they meet the needs of both recreational users and organized sports programs. This includes planning and managing turf renovation, field preparation, irrigation repair and upgrades, and plumbing maintenance throughout the City’s parks and landscaped areas.

Serving as the City Arborist, this individual plays a vital role in caring for public trees and vegetation, working closely with the Fire Department, community groups, and other departments to implement the City’s tree maintenance and vegetation management programs.

Other key responsibilities include overseeing and maintaining the City’s gateway areas, medians, demonstration gardens, and other high-visibility landscape features; ensuring the effective operation of irrigation and drainage systems; and supporting the preservation and enhancement of the City’s cherished Steps, Lanes, and Paths network.

As a working supervisor, this position combines hands-on technical knowledge with strong leadership and team-building skills. The Supervisor is responsible for coaching, mentoring, and developing staff; fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and professional growth; and ensuring high standards of performance and service within the Parks Division.

• Plan, schedule, coordinate, assign and supervise the work of field crews and contractors engaged in parks, fields, golf course, landscapes, trees, steps, lanes and paths, and special projects work.

Highly desirable traits include prior work experience in a park, forest, or public recreation area involving work with equipment and tools used in park maintenance.  Candidates selected for the position will be required to successfully pass and obtain a certification in Basic First Aid/CPR, AED for Lay Responders.   

Schedules: This is a full-time (preferred), Monday through Friday position, with occasional weekend and holiday work required. Seasonal assignments will not exceed 950 hours or 6 months, whichever comes first, and do not include benefits. Seasonal Open Space Technicians are expected to work a minimum of 5 consecutive months.

The City of Lincoln is hiring for a seasonal Maintenance Worker II within the Parks and Facilities Division of the Public Works Department.

The Department is looking for an individual with at least three years of responsible experience performing municipal parks maintenance. Course work and training in maintenance, agronomy, horticulture, forestry, natural resource management, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, janitorial or related field is highly desirable.  A successful candidate will have the ability to obtain a Class B Driver’s License within one year of employment.

Under general supervision, this position performs the full array of duties assigned to classes in the Maintenance Worker series including maintenance, construction and equipment operation work in one or more Public Works divisions; occasionally assists in the training of lower-level Maintenance Workers; and performs other related duties as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Maintenance Worker II is the journey level class responsible for a wide variety of maintenance and construction tasks. This classification is distinguished from the next higher classification of Senior Maintenance Worker in that the latter performs more complex assignments and lead responsibilities.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

The Maintenance Worker II receives general supervision from a Public Works Supervisor. May exercise technical and functional supervision over assigned staff. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Include but are not limited to the following:

• Performs maintenance, repair, construction, equipment operation and installation work in parks and buildings.
• Parks and Buildings: Maintains lawns, shrubs, and trees; assists in spraying of herbicides and pesticides; cuts, sprays and removes weeds; clears brush and debris; assists with planting and maintenance of landscaped areas; installs, maintains, repairs and programs irrigation systems; cleans and maintains parks and city buildings; assists in the performance of minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting and remodeling tasks.
• Fills out reports and work orders; climbs or uses hydraulic aerial devices to top, trim, reshape, strip, treat and remove trees; operates airport fueling vehicles; responds to after-hours call-outs if assigned.
• Demonstrates a full understanding of applicable policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties; may provide training to lower level staff; responds to questions and concerns from the general public; provides information as is appropriate and resolves public service complaints.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions including wet, hot and cold. The incumbent may use cleaning and lubricating chemicals, pesticides or herbicides which may expose the employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. The nature of the work also requires the incumbent to climb ladders, use power and noise producing tools and equipment, operate hydraulic aerial devices, drive motorized vehicles and heavy equipment, work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions and often work with constant interruptions.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS

The Department:

The Parks and Recreation Department provides planning, development, operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of the City's neighborhood parks, open space, water sites, recreation buildings, and trails.

The Position:

Under supervision, to perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in connection with the development and maintenance of City parks and recreational facilities.

As an As-needed Laborer, the successful incumbent will work in the department, performing routine maintenance on various parks and facilities including the city-owned cemetery. This position will assist in maintenance and repair using a variety of tools and specialized equipment. 

The Laborer position performs varied, unskilled and skilled manual tasks related to landscape maintenance and sanitization. Typical tasks include cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and buildings, loading trash and leaves in truck, litter abatement, mowing, edging, cleaning park sites, graffiti abatement, and operating a variety of hand/power tools and heavy equipment as needed. This position may require working weekends, holidays, and after hours. Must be able to read, speak, and write English at a basic level, follow written and oral instruction, and perform heavy lifting.  

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

AC Transit is actively searching for an exceptional, professional senior recruiter who can source, recruit, and interview good quality candidates for high level, complex and high-volume recruitments. This position will serve as a lead recruiter to support a full cycle recruitment process by developing recruitment strategies, assisting in salary recommendations, and staffing according to EEO guidelines and District policies and procedures. The successful candidate will possess a consultative, customer focused approach with an emphasis on professionalism and a history of providing the best possible support to hiring managers to guide them in hiring high caliber candidates. Strong recruitment experience, compensation experience and/or generalist background are highly desirable.

REPRESENTATIVE FUNCTIONS:

• Directs, organizes and executes complex, high level and high-volume recruitments including development of strategic recruitment plans, planning and placement of advertising, creation of examination plans, writing of announcements and sourcing of candidates.
• Serves as lead recruiter and sets an example in professionalism, customer focused mindset and consistent follow up.
• Evaluates and prepares statistical analyses on applicant data, including trend analysis, utilization analysis and adverse impact analysis.
• Analyzes and interprets federal laws, state laws, District policies and procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.
• Screens applicants for minimum qualifications based on applications, supplemental questionnaires, and other required documentation.
• Analyzes and evaluates the compensation for new and existing positions; recommends appropriate internal and external comparators; conducts salary surveys and makes recommendations for the appropriate compensation for individual positions and groups of positions; explains recommendations to managers, supervisors, and employees; provides recommendations and guidance for compensation system revisions and updates. Develops, coordinates, administers and evaluates oral and written examinations and their results, including compiling test scores, preparing eligibility lists and candidate information;and coordinating follow-up pre-employment drug testing, physical capacity testing, and background/reference checks.
• Analyzes and evaluates new and existing positions for classification; designs and drafts classification specifications or alters existing specifications; explains the classification process and recommendations to managers, supervisors, and employees; and makes recommendations for the improvement of the classification system.
• Conducts job analysis for assigned positions, including identifying job content, analyzing position description questionnaires and writing job descriptions.
• Coordinates and implements recruitment processes for District departments; confers with department managers and supervisors to determine recruiting needs.
• Collaborates with hiring department on workforce planning initiatives.
• Prepare and organize appropriate salary surveys and benchmark comparable positions. May be assigned various human resources special projects as needed.
• Establishes and maintains confidential files and records, and performs administrative tasks such as data entry, and the writing and distribution of correspondence and other documents.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development, Public Administration, or a related field, from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Equivalent to at least four (4) years of increasingly responsible Analyst level experience in a Human Resources Department. Experience in a supervisory or lead capacity is desired. Additional education, such as a graduate degree in one of the above disciplines from an accredited college or university may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Desirable Experience: Experience in high level complex, high volume recruitments, and compensation analysis. Excellent communication skills and presentation skills, ability to develop strong rapport with hiring managers and provide outstanding customer service to internal and external clients. This position requires the incumbent to occasionally travel to District facilities, with the flexibility to work early mornings, late afternoons/evenings, and or on the weekends as needed for events at various District locations and in the community. Union experience is desirable but not required.

License Requirement: Must possess, or obtain and maintain a valid California Class C Driver License and meet the District’s safe driving standards.

Physical Requirements: Must maintain the physical condition necessary to: (1) perform tasks in an office setting operating a personal computer, keyboards, and other peripheral equipment; and (2) possess physical mobility in order to and within the various District facilities.
