To be considered for this position, you must successfully pass the Firefighter Candidate Testing Center (FCTC) Entry-Level Firefighter Written Exam and be placed on the FCTC statewide list. In addition, you need a current Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT).
Final FCTC testing date for this recruitment is Saturday, April 13, 2019.

Under the general direction of a Shift Captain, a Resident Volunteer Firefighter may be required to effectively perform duties involving the protection of life and property from fire and other emergencies, while assigned to an engine; maintain station, inspect, test and maintain equipment and fire apparatus; conduct training during shifts, maintain reports, and other duties as specified by the Shift Captain.
Woodside Fire Protection District offers an exceptional Cadet Program for individuals interested in a career in the Fire Service. Cadets gain hands-on experience participating in training and public service events. Cadets work 24-hour shifts and ride-along on emergency calls.
Woodside Cadets will work and be involved in:
Emergency calls, firefighter training, public education events, fire prevention, station duties, CERPP, cpr/first aid training.
Under supervision on an assigned shift to extinguish fires and to participate in fire prevention activities in protecting life and property; respond to emergencies and administer advanced life support to sick or injured persons within the scope of Paramedic licensure and accreditation; operate and maintain fire trucks, ambulances, firefighting and rescue equipment; station maintenance and training activities in support of overall Department objectives and performs related responsibilities as required.

The position of Public Safety Officer-In Training is a non-sworn, training classification while incumbents are attending the police and fire academies. Upon successful completion of the police academy, incumbents will be promoted to the sworn, training position of Public Safety Officer I. Upon successful completion of all required training, incumbents will be promoted to the sworn position of Public Safety Officer II.
