THE ROLE AND PROJECTS:
Reporting to the Economic Development Program Manager, the Intern will be engaged in project-based work to advance key economic development strategic initiatives.  Examples of the work include, but are not limited to the following:

• Implement tasks outlined in the San Rafael Economic Development Strategic Plan.
• Develop a business support communications plan in collaboration with business support partners.
• Support Division Manager to activate outreach to businesses.
• Learn and assist with contract management.
• Evaluate resources available to various business groups through an equity lens.  Research strategies for business support for underserved sectors in San Rafael.
• Support activation of the Downtown San Rafael Arts District Strategic Plan.
• Administrative tasks as assigned.

HOURS, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
This position will work approximately 12-20 hours per week.  The candidate will have hands-on learning and work experience at San Rafael City Hall and outreach in the community.

This is a temporary position and hours worked may not exceed 1,000 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 thru June 30).

In accordance with the salary resolution, this position receives no benefits with the exception of Paid Sick Leave and a retirement plan.  

• Temporary employees are entitled to receive sick leave in accordance with California's Paid Sick Leave Law (AB 1522).

The Department of Transportation (DOT) is seeking to fill 16 full-time Maintenance Assistant positions.

The Maintenance Assistant total salary range is $24.74 to $31.56 hourly or $51,459.20 to $65,644.80 annually . The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.

The Infrastructure Maintenance Division of DOT is looking to fill 16 full-time vacant positions. These positions perform work in the maintenance and repair of concrete, pavement, sewers, landscaping, traffic signs, and traffic markings. Duties include digging holes, trenches, and ditches. They also operate a wide range of hand, mechanical, and power tools, as well as a variety of light and heavy vehicles, trucks, and equipment relevant to work performed, ensuring compliance with safe working practices. Maintenance crews provide services seven days a week. Individuals in this classification may be required to work alternate work shifts, including grave and swing, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Director of Finance located in Boulder Creek, CA. The Director of Finance supervises, oversees and manages the activities and operations of the Finance Department including financial reporting, general accounting, purchasing, warehousing and inventory control; budget preparation, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, debt administration, revenue management, administration of invested funds and performs other related duties as required.

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is the county’s largest provider of affordable housing, helping make rental housing safe and affordable for approximately 20,000 low-income households.

How You Will Make an Impact:

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is seeking an experienced leader who will lead, manage, organize, plan and oversee the staff and activities of the Agency’s Innovation and Impact team including developing housing policy, program design, implementation and evaluation. Will work collaboratively with the leadership team and the community to bring meaningful opportunities and impact to the communities SCCHA serves.

The Assistant Director of Innovation and Impact plays an important role in leading the policy work and resident community initiatives, from innovation through evaluation.  This position will oversee and manage the Agency’s Moving to Work (MTW) Plan process in partnership with the leadership team and stakeholders, and requires knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to housing programs. 

As a member of our team, we are looking for a candidate that has a strong understanding and connection to SCCHA’s resident community needs and its supporting partners. Direct experience in community engagement, program and policy design and implementation, and evaluation of impact is highly desired. 

What Our Team Is Looking For:

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience likely to provide the required core competencies may be considered. A typical combination that is qualifying may include: 

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in social services, behavioral sciences, public or business administration or related field.
• Five (5) years of increasingly responsible management experience in government assistance program and resident services administration and evaluation with three (3) years in a supervisory capacity.  
• A master’s degree is preferred.  

 

THE POSITION

Under supervision of the Public Works Manager, the Maintenance Worker I performs entry level unskilled, semi-skilled, or skilled labor in construction, maintenance, and related service activities applied to the areas of general landscaping, grounds maintenance and street maintenance.

 TYPICAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Grounds Maintenance:  Operate mowers and other equipment and tools for purposes of cutting grass, trimming trees and shrubs, and planting and transplanting flowers, bulbs, shrubs, and trees.
• Storm Prevention Maintenance:  Assist in cleaning ditches, culverts, and storm drains.
• Street Maintenance: Assist in repainting of pavement markings, basic pothole, and street repair; installation and repair of street signs and markers; mixing and application of Class III pesticide materials.
• Vehicle/Equipment Maintenance:  Assist in the care, maintenance and cleaning of vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• General:  Contact residents concerning maintenance and service problems; refer complaints and requests to proper supervisory personnel. Assist supervisory personnel in preparing and maintaining proper records and logs. Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS

The general knowledge of basic construction methods, materials and terminology, standard hand tools, light equipment, and light vehicles; general knowledge of basic safety precautions and practices necessary in working with hand tools, light equipment, and vehicles; general knowledge of basic methods and practices involved in the care of shrubs, trees and flowers. Ability to learn technically complex construction and maintenance procedures in water systems, streets, parks and building maintenance; use hand and power tools; perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time under inclement weather conditions; work alone or with small groups.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid California driver's license and ability to maintain a satisfactory driving history.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Completion of high school or its equivalent, or completion of a trade or vocational school.  Some directly related experience is desirable.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• Monthly Salary: $4,855 to $6,269 per month. Placement within the range will be based upon the selected candidate’s experience and salary history.
• Health/Medical Benefit: Health/Medical Benefit: Choice of coverage with Kaiser or Blue Shield. The City pays 80% of monthly premiums at each coverage level. In lieu of medical coverage, the City will contribute $400 (employee only coverage) or $500 (employee + 1 coverage) or $600 (family coverage) in cash or a pre-tax contribution into a MissionSquare Retirement 457 deferred compensation plan.
• Dental Coverage: City-paid dental plan for employee and eligible dependents.

Ideal Knowledge:

• Principles and practices of public administration, project management, strategic planning, and budget development.
• Methods of developing, analyzing, implementing, and evaluating administrative policies and procedures.
• Principles and practices of public sector contract administration and management.
• Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.

Ideal Training and Education:

• Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, public administration, political science, law, environmental science, engineering, economics, or a related field.

Substitution: 
 Directly related experience may be substituted for the college requirement based on one and one-half years of experience for one year of education to a maximum of four years.
