THE DEPARTMENT

The City Clerk serves as a steward of the democratic process and is a liaison between the City Council and members of the public. She is a partner in democracy, providing information and ensuring transparency. The City Clerk is an elected representative of the people and serves a four-year term. The City Clerk has legal responsibilities described in California Government Code Sections 40800, et seq., the Elections Code, and City ordinance.  

The Department: 

The City Manager’s Office provides executive leadership and administrative oversight for the City organization, ensuring the effective delivery of services in alignment with the City Council’s policies, goals, and strategic priorities. The City Manager’s Office is responsible for implementing City Council direction, overseeing daily municipal operations, and fostering collaboration across departments and with external partners. This Office plays a key role in strategic planning, policy development, budget preparation and oversight, labor relations, and performance management. Staff within the City Manager’s Office support complex projects and initiatives that advance organizational excellence, innovation, equity, and community engagement. This Office is committed to professional management practices, ethical governance, and continuous improvement in service to the community.

 

The Position: 

The Staff Analyst I is responsible for program analysis and administrative duties in support of assigned programs and activities. Assigned programs could include housing development, community development, community outreach, historic preservation, advanced planning, public/private housing rehabilitation, management analysis, building services, human services, criminal statistics, solid waste, recycling, waste prevention, sustainability, urban runoff pollution prevention, and federal/state grant programs and activities.  Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education Requirements: 

Completion of 120 semester units or 180 quarter units which, irrespective of the preceding requirement, shall include one (1) or more courses in, or a Bachelor's degree in, public or business administration, urban planning, information management, criminal justice, environmental studies, finance, or related field from an accredited college or university.

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at time of appointment and for duration of employment.

Role description

Under general supervision, performs skilled line work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of transit power systems including trolley overhead contact wires, poles, conduits, cables, feeders, switches, and related support structures.

Examples of Important and Essential Duties
According to Civil Service Commission Rule 409, the duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned to this job code/class and are not intended to be an inclusive list.
 

1. Strings, rigs and repairs electrical lines, cables, wires and related switches, including aluminum and copper conductors and support wires, under energized and de-energized conditions and in heavy traffic.  

2. Inspects overhead lines and circuits to identify and assess faulty lines or worn parts for on-site or later repair and replacement, including removing trees or other obstructions.  

3. Installs and maintains underground and overhead electrical systems/facilities and supporting structures.  

4. Repairs and replaces poles, cross arms, insulators and related hardware under energized and de-energized conditions, and in heavy traffic or in underground and subway stations.  

5. Digs foundations; sets, plumbs and anchors poles.  

6. Responds to emergency road call requests.  

7. Maintains routine records.  

8. Drives City vehicles.  

9. Performs related duties as required.
 

Nature of Work: Requires considerable physical effort and dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs and body; continuous exposure to physical and working conditions where serious injuries maybe encountered; working with high voltage electrical distribution lines and working in confined spaces; may be assigned to work day, swing or night shifts, weekends and holidays; may be required to wear respirators and work in inclement weather; may be required to work overtime; this is a 7 day / 24 hour operation.

How to qualify

Education:  Completion of a State certified Electrical Line Worker apprenticeship program recognized by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers;

OR  

Experience:  Two (2) years of full time verifiable journey-level electrical line worker experience in the installation, maintenance and operation of high voltage (above 600 volts) power transmission and distribution systems;

OR

Five (5) years of full time verifiable journey-level electrician experience as defined by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers of which two (2) years must have been assisting in the installation, maintenance and operation of high voltage (above 600 volts) power transmission and distribution systems.  

AND

License:  Possession of a valid driver license.  Must obtain a Class B driver license within six months of appointment.  Failure to obtain a Class B driver license is cause for termination.

Selection Procedures: (General Exam Process)
After application submission, candidates deemed qualified must complete all subsequent steps to advance in this selection process, which includes the following:

Multiple-Choice Examination (Weight - 100%): Candidates deemed eligible and admitted to the examination process will be sent a web link via email that will allow them to take an online multiple-choice test designed to measure knowledge, skills and abilities in job-related areas that may include but not be limited to: technical knowledge; ability to install, repair, replace, string, rig, splice, and maintain equipment/structures; ability to use tools and equipment; knowledge of safety regulations and procedures; and human relations ability.  

This is a standardized examination and, therefore, test questions and test answers are not available for public inspection or review.

What else should I know?

Eligible List/Score Report:  A confidential eligible list/score report of applicant names that have passed the civil service examination process will be created, and used for certification purposes only. An examination score report will be established, so applicants can view the ranks, final scores and number of eligible candidates. Applicant information, including names of applicants on the eligible list/score report, shall not be made public unless required by law. However, an eligible list/score report shall be made available for public inspection, upon request, once the eligible list/score report is exhausted or expired and referrals resolved. The eligible list/score report resulting from this civil service examination process is subject to change after adoption (e.g., as a result of appeals), as directed by the Director of Transportation or the Civil Service Commission.

The duration of the eligible list/score report resulting from this examination process will be of 12 months and may be extended with the approval of the Director of Transportation. 
 

Medical Examination/Drug Testing: Candidates who are being considered for appointment for positions which may be required to pass a medical examination. Candidates who cannot meet the medical requirement will be placed under waiver until this requirement is met. The medical examination will be administered only to those applicants who are being considered for appointment.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has determined that Class 7366 Transit Power Line Worker is a “safety-sensitive” position, under regulations issued by the Federal Transit Administration (49 CFR Part 655). Federal law requires that all transit employees who perform safety-sensitive functions be subject to random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return-to-duty and follow-up drug and alcohol testing. All applicants for Safety-Sensitive positions shall undergo urine drug testing prior to employment and within 90 days prior to performing Safety-Sensitive functions for the first time. Receipt by the SFMTA of a negative test result is required prior to the employee being placed on the payroll. A positive, adulterated, negative dilute or substituted test will result in a decision not to hire, and the applicant’s name will be removed from the list of eligibles for Safety-Sensitive positions. The SFMTA will not consider hiring any person who tested positive, adulterated, substituted or refused to submit to testing for a minimum of two years following the positive test.

In addition, each applicant who has worked for a Department of Transportation (DOT)-regulated employer(s) within the last two years will be required to sign a consent form, prior to appointment, authorizing SFMTA to obtain information from his/her prior employers concerning his/her drug and alcohol test history. Each applicant will also be required to provide SFMTA with information regarding whether, during the last two years, the applicant tested positive or refused to test on any pre-employment drug or alcohol test administered by an employer to which the applicant applied for, but did not obtain, safety-sensitive transportation work covered by DOT drug and alcohol testing rules. SFMTA will not hire any applicant for a safety-sensitive position who fails to provide this information or fails to provide written consent for the release of information from prior employers.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading written reports and work-related documents. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The need to lift, drag and push files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required.

Administers the documentation requirements of the 1986 Immigration and Control Act. Prepares and processes required Human Resources’ forms, such as new employee forms and employee Action Forms. Assists with preparation and publication of the employee newsletter. Maintains and orders office supplies and other duties as assigned.

Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent and an Associate of Arts (AA) degree.

Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in administrative and Human Resources technical work that involved regular contact with the public.

License: Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License.

ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

 

The Department of Community Development is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Management Fellow. ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City, Community Development Department is seeking a value-driven team player to join the Department. Through mentorship and under general supervision, the Fellow will assist in coordinating and managing specific projects to completion in the areas of budgeting, planning, community engagement, procurement, and legislative policy, especially related to the Planning and Building Divisions in Community Development.

Some of the various projects and responsibilities may include:

• Performing policy research and analysis, identifying relevant legislation, and developing recommendation positions as related to Planning and Building policy
• Assisting with the City’s budget process
• Program and Performance Management analysis towards the goal of identifying efficiencies

Sausalito Parks and Recreation is Seeking Vibrant Skilled Recreation Leaders 

This recruitment is for spring, summer and fall events and activities beginning March 9th, such as Bocce and Volleyball Referee, Jazz and Blues, Fourth of July, Chili Cook-off, A Toast to Sausalito, Halloween and other fun classes, activities, and events. Ideal candidates will be available to referee Monday through Thursday each week and/or to staff events on Friday evenings from June through August and occasional Saturdays. 

Pay: $16.90 - $17.90/ Hr.

The City of Sausalito is recruiting part-time temporary help for the spring, summer, and fall seasons of recreation activities and City-wide events.  The first of these is the Bocce League referee.  

Bocce Referee
As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Bocce Referee, you are responsible for set-up, management, and cleanup of scheduled Bocce matches. You are the enforcer of rules, an impartial judge, and an advocate for fun and fair play, all while maintaining a positive attitude and providing a friendly environment when communicating with teams and keeping score. This position reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor.  The ideal candidate must meet all minimum requirements as listed below and be confident and capable of dealing with conflict and intense games.  

Event Staff

As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Event Staff member, you are responsible for actively participating in set-up, cleanup, and management of your assigned event.  You must arrive on time and remain until the event leader releases you after the event.   Event staff may set up chairs, tables, stages, corridors, and barriers.  You may be asked to perform traffic control or direct drivers to parking.  The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, meet all of the minimum requirements below, remain calm under pressure and in the face of adversity, be cheerful, friendly, and love the diversity of people. 

The minimum requirements for the position are:

This position provides essential case management services to support individuals and families in accessing community resources and services. HHSA Case Manager I is an entry-level, training-focused role that performs routine case management duties under close supervision. HHSA Case Manager II is the journey-level classification and performs the full range of case management functions, including direct client contact and complex cases, with greater independence and professional judgment. This position may work in one or more Public Health programs such as Women, Infants and Children (WIC) and/or health initiatives related to health equity, health care systems, and social determinants of health. This is an in-person position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

JOB DUTIES

• Assists public health nurses in coordinating and conducting community events, such as immunization clinics; assists with screening process, initial assessments, clinic immunization records management, tracking and appropriate reporting.
• Provides case management through individual or group rehab methods for children and/or adults for a variety of health services programs and services.
• Coordinates services with individuals, coordinates activities with other departments, medical providers, social workers, schools and/or other outreach agencies as appropriate to ensure that the needs of the clients are met.
• Performs general administrative/office work as required, including but not limited to copying and filing documents, preparing/typing documents, answering the telephone, faxing information, entering computer data, attending meetings, ordering supplies, maintaining office cleanliness, etc.
