SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Under immediate supervision (Street Maintenance Operator I) or general supervision (Street Maintenance Operator II), performs semi-skilled to skilled maintenance, repair, and construction work assigned to the streets division; operates maintenance and construction tools and equipment; performs a variety of maintenance tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Street Maintenance Operator I: This is the entry level class in the Street Maintenance Operator series. This class is distinguished from the Street Maintenance Operator II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to workers in this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters related to established procedures and guidelines as are positions allocated to the II level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or non directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.

Street Maintenance Operator II: This is the full journey level class within the Street Maintenance Operator series. This class is distinguished from the Street Maintenance Operator I by the assignment of the full range of duties assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

1. Handle complaints and answer questions from the public.

2. Perform general electrical, painting, plumbing and carpentry work as needed.

3. Make minor adjustments on service equipment; maintain tools and equipment in working order.

4. Oversee the work of community service workers.

5. Maintain logs of daily activities.

6. Assist in other areas as needed.

7. Perform related duties as required.

8. Repair and replace street surfaces, sidewalks, curbs, and gutters including back filling trenches and evacuations.

9. Perform the maintenance, repair, construction, and installation work of streets, storm drain, parking lots, street lights, traffic striping, and traffic control signs and signals.

10. Remove hazards from the roadway and other public rights of way.

11. Operate a variety of motorized equipment and specialized maintenance equipment.

12. Perform repaving, patching, overlaying, chuck hole, and crack sealing repair of asphalt.

13. Perform underground service alert locating, marking and notification.

14. Lay out and install traffic signs and pavement markings.

15. Repair and maintain storm drain lift stations.

16. Conduct traffic count surveys.

17. Maintain storm detention ponds, including cleaning, repairing, and spraying weeds.

18. Respond to hazardous materials spills.

THE POSITION

Under general supervision within the Police Department, responds to active crisis calls in collaboration with law enforcement and provides field and office based crisis intervention, behavioral health assessments and counseling, psychoeducation, outreach and engagement, transitional case management, consultation, and quality assurance review of assigned cases; works collaboratively with community service providers, behavioral health agencies, and law enforcement to connect individuals to appropriate resources; and performs related work as required or assigned.

This classification is uniquely distinguished by its principal responsibility to co-respond with law enforcement to emergency calls within the City that involve suspected mental health or behavioral health concerns. This integrated response model ensures a coordinated approach to crisis situations designed to improve outcomes for individuals experiencing psychological distress.

Employees in this position operate with a high degree of independence, judgment and initiative within established departmental policies and procedures. While this position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities, the clinician may provide guidance and training to other personnel, community partners or service providers. Incumbents receive general supervision from a Police Lieutenant and administrative direction from a Police Captain within the Police Department’s Services Division.

A Crisis Response Clinician I is in a pre-licensed status, has completed some of the requirements and must practice under supervision while working towards full licensure. A Crisis Response Clinician II is a licensed clinician who has completed all requirements for professional practice, including education, supervised hours, and exams and can practice independently. A Clinician I shall, upon receipt of the requisite licensure with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences or California Board of Psychology, be advanced to a Clinician II.

The Superior Court of California, County of San Mateo is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Child Custody Recommending Counselor.
 
The Child Custody Recommending Counselor will provide mediation services and child custody recommending counseling as required by California Family Code section 3160 et seq, and will conduct investigations and prepare reports as provided in California Family Code section 3110 et seq and Family Code section 7851 and 9001.  The candidate hired for the position will work in any court department and must be able to travel to any court location in the county.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• An understanding of cultural diversity issues.
• Energy and dedication with an appreciation of the diverse communities served by the Superior Court.
• Experience working with families and children.

Qualifications

Experience and Education: As required by the Family Code and the California Rules of Court, applicants for positions in this classification must have the following minimum qualifications:

• Experience: Two years of experience in counseling or psychotherapy, or both, preferably in a setting related to the areas of responsibility of the family conciliation court and with the diverse population to be served.
• Education: A master's degree in psychology, social work, marriage, family, and child counseling, or other behavioral sciences substantially related to marriage and family interpersonal relationships.

Knowledge of: 

• Adult Psychopathology, family psychology, child development, child abuse, the effects of divorce on children, the effects of domestic violence on children, child custody research, and clinical issues relating to children.
• Domestic violence issues as described in Family Code Section 1816.
• Principles and techniques of family mediation.
• Crisis intervention techniques.
• Cultural diversity issues.
• Community resources for client referral.
• Laws, rules, regulations, policies, and legislation related to Court operations and functions, particularly those related to family law and court mediation.
• Ethical standards which promote fairness and encourage trust in the mediation process.

Skill/ Ability to:

• Prepare well written, thorough reports, which include information regarding a family from various professional sources.
• Assess the mental health needs of children.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties, including fellow employees, members of the judiciary, behavioral specialists, service providers, and the public.

THE POSITION
The Deputy Director of the Public Works Agency plays a critical leadership role overseeing the Roads and Engineering Divisions. This position is responsible for the planning, execution, and oversight of major infrastructure projects, public works programs, and disaster recovery initiatives. Working under the general direction of the Agency Director, the Deputy Director provides strategic direction, operational oversight, and interdepartmental coordination to ensure efficient service delivery, regulatory compliance, and community engagement. The role also serves as Acting Director in the Director’s absence and represents the agency in meetings with officials, stakeholders, and the public. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week. This recruitment may be used to establish a list to fill future vacancies for the next six (6) months.

• Oversees the preparation of solicitation documents for construction projects, manages the bid process including pre-bid conferences and site walk-throughs, responds to bidder inquiries, and administers construction contracts, including budgeting and assisting with regulatory permitting.

COMMUNITY

Chowchilla is an 11-square mile rural city of between 19,000 and 20,000 residents. Located in California’s San Joaquin Valley, Chowchilla is home to some of the state’s most productive agricultural areas. Many of California’s iconic travel destinations such as the Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks, the San Francisco Bay Area and the Pacific Coast are within an easy two-hour drive.

Area residents enjoy a Mediterranean-type climate of abundant sunshine with dry, hot summers and mild to cool winters. The rain months of January through March can provide an average 12 inches of annual precipitation to the region.

The community has the benefit of an established commercial downtown surrounded by a mix of varied older homes. In recent years, newer housing developments were built on the east and west sides, as well as retail properties and industrial developments. Three school districts provide a strong educational foundation for families. POSITION

The Public Works Director is appointed by and works under the direction of the City Administrator and serves as a member of the City’s executive team. The Public Works Director supervises 20+ employees and directs the operations and activities of the City’s Public Works Department including streets and sidewalks, water drainage, parks, facilities, water and sewer utilities, storm drainage, manages all municipal construction, and prepares and administers departmental budget.

Typical Duties

Under direction of the Public Works Director or designee, the Management Analyst performs a variety of professional-level administrative, analytical, and technical duties, including:

• Prepares RFPs and coordinates consultant selection; administers consultant and construction contracts, including bidding, invoicing, and compliance tracking.

• Conducts research, analysis, and prepares reports on departmental projects, programs, and compliance activities such as the Clean Water/NPDES Program.

• Supports geographic data analysis and mapping using GIS to track infrastructure assets, stormwater facilities, and project locations.

Education and Experience

Education:

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, business administration, civil engineering, environmental studies, or a related field.  A master's degree is desirable.

Experience:

• Management Analyst I:  Some professional-level administrative, analytical, or budgetary experience, preferably in a public works, engineering, or local government setting.
• Management Analyst II:  At least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience performing duties at the Management Analyst I level.

Licenses:

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Class C driver’s license.

• Ability to work in an office environment with occasional travel to field locations and meetings, including occasional evening or weekend commitments.

The Town of Woodside is seeking a Director of Public Works/Town Engineer to join the Public Works and Building Department under the direction of the Town Manager. The Town will select the candidate with the best combination of experience and education that aligns with the customer service values of Town Hall.

Woodside is a rural residential community of approximately 5,300 residents located on the San Francisco Peninsula in San Mateo County. The Town is bordered by Redwood City to the north, Atherton and Menlo Park to the east, Portola Valley to the south, and the Santa Cruz Mountains to the west. Residents of Woodside are highly educated and active in local government. The Town maintains an intricate equestrian trail system and many residents keep horses.

Woodside spans 14 square miles and is a largely affluent residential community in Silicon Valley.
