DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The City of San José, Information Technology Department, seeks an Enterprise Infrastructure Architectural Technologies Manager. This position is responsible for addressing Citywide initiatives that focus on building and expanding network architecture for citywide services. Key focus areas include: developing solutions for digital inclusion and digital equity strategies using city assets and infrastructure; collaborating with other divisions, departments, contractors and agencies in developing technology driven opportunities; and designing solutions and leading multi-stakeholder projects around efforts to ensure highly available, reliable, and optimal city service availability. The ideal candidate possesses extensive technical experience delivering solutions built around industry standard network architecture, Microsoft ecosystems, and network/server/endpoint services at scale for a large organization.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Owning the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for citywide network infrastructure and services, Hyperconverged Infrastructure, and Multi-cloud architecture.
• Defining and delivering solutions using:
+ Windows server Infrastructure;
+ Azure cloud infrastructure;
+ Wired/Wireless network infrastructure;
+ VMWare and NSX infrastructure;
+ Cloud disaster recovery;
+ Right-of-way outdoor wired/wireless services; and/or,
+ Modern Device Management solutions.
• Serving as the citywide infrastructure architect and interacts with customers, senior management, City teams, and vendor partners.
• Leading modernization and optimization efforts through architectural design, implementation and project management.
• Leading or co-leading multiple citywide projects through project management practices.
• Assigning planned tasks to infrastructure teams required for project delivery.
• Enforcing governance and security best practices are incorporated through architectural design.
• Defining operationalization requirements for successful transition to operations and maintenance.
• Reviewing and authorizing procurement requests as they pertain to infrastructure elements.

Selection Process
The selection process will consist of an evaluation of the applicant's training and experience based on the application and responses to the Job Specific Questions. 2. Please describe one (1) major project where you designed and architected a Citywide and/or enterprise infrastructure solution, integrating any of the checked technologies selected above. Describe the problem that was presented, your proposed solution, the different major milestones that were defined to initiate the project (e.g. technical evaluations, procurement, etc.), the teams that were required to implement the solution, and specifically, your leadership and involvement in each phase.
Be sure to include the project objectives and its significance, the durations, the budget parameters, the methods used to keep the project on track, the successes, and the impediments. List one to two major lessons learned.

Salary Information
The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience. In addition to the starting salary, employees in the Enterprise Technology Manager (ETM) classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.
• Enterprise Technology Manager salary range: $134,971.200 (min) – $165,193.600 (max)
