Management (Budget) Analyst
Are you someone who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems, and making an impact behind the scenes? The City of Belmont is looking for a Management (Budget) Analyst to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for someone who wants to make an impact through thoughtful budgeting, financial analysis, and cross-department support.
As a Management (Budget) Analyst, you'll work under the direction of a Finance Manager to help develop the City’s annual budget, support financial planning efforts, and keep key systems running smoothly. You’ll be hands-on with both day-to-day operations and longer-term projects that support Belmont’s financial health.
This position is classified as Management Analyst I or II, with the working title of Budget Analyst.
Placement will be made at either level depending on experience and department needs.
What You’ll Do:
Assist in preparing the annual operating budget and 5-year capital improvement plan
Maintain the City’s budget system and provide end-user support and training
Analyze trends in revenues and expenditures, and prepare financial reports and presentations
Coordinate budget transfers and amendments
Manage chart of accounts alignment and process documentation
Support payroll processes, audits, and financial system upgrades
Research local, state, and federal regulations for financial impacts
Collaborate with other departments and outside agencies to gather and share financial data
Contribute to cost allocation models, internal service fund rates, and related analysis
Take on special projects and assist in the general administration of the Finance Department

Experience in budgeting, accounting, or finance
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in public administration, business, finance, or a related field
Prior experience in local government is a plus
