• Prunes hedges, shrubs and trees in parks and street areas.
• Maintains playground equipment in a safe operating condition.

THE POSITION

• This position will work specifically in the Economic Development Division.
• Approximately 15 hours per week, with flexibility depending on outside commitments.
• Availability to support some upcoming events scheduled during occasional weekday late afternoons or evenings.
• The duration of this position is for six months from the date of hire, with the ability to extend based on performance.

TYPICAL DUTIES (may include but are not limited to the following):

• Assists the Division with promotions, and marketing programs that support local businesses.
• Assists the Division with City communications, including email campaigns, social media, and flyer distribution.
• Supports the Division with upcoming events hosted by the City and its economic development partners. Upcoming events include, but are not limited to, the Biotech and Beyond Speaker Series, business workshops both in-person and virtual, community events, and night markets. Support may include event planning, outreach, logistics, and day of planning and support, as needed.
• Assists the Division with implementation of some of Skyline College’s Accelerate Fellowship Program past projects that support downtown revitalization, and business support initiatives.
• Assists the Division with planning event logistics including budgets, timelines, and staffing plans. This also includes onsite coordination of events, including set-up, and clean-up.
• The Economic Development Intern may also support occasional follow up reports needed to show performance metrics from events implemented by the Division.
• General administrative support, as needed.
• This position may occasionally work at either City Hall (400 Grand Avenue) or the Economic Advancement Center (366 Grand Avenue) both in South San Francisco. Events and meetings coordinated by the Division take place all within the City of South San Francisco.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

Maintenance Worker I:  This is the entry level class in the maintenance worker series. Positions in this class normally perform a variety of unskilled and semi‑skilled maintenance tasks. Although trucks and other motorized equipment may be operated by a Maintenance Worker I, the equipment is used on a training basis or for tasks which are repetitious in nature. Under this training concept, positions assigned to the class of Maintenance Worker II which become vacant may reasonably be filled at the Maintenance Worker I level, with the understanding that reassignment to the Maintenance Worker II class may be expected following successful job performance and personal development.

Maintenance Worker II: This is the journey level in the maintenance worker series. Positions assigned to this class are expected to perform semi‑skilled and skilled public works maintenance activities and to operate light and moderately heavy power‑driven equipment on a continuing basis. All positions allocated to this class require that an incumbent be able to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative to fulfill assigned tasks. Maintenance Workers II may also be expected to assist in the supervision and training of less experienced personnel.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

18-week training program that teaches basic technical and job-readiness skills to prepare participants for a IAM Local 1414 Registered Apprenticeship for the Automotive Mechanic, Machinist, Auto Body Painter, or Body and Fender Repairer. The 18-week program includes eighteen (18) weeks of free academic training through City College of San Francisco, as well as nine (9) weeks paid on-the-job experience. All equipment and uniforms are provided by the program. Individuals are expected to attend all classes and work assignments to complete the program.

First nine (9) weeks of program at CCSF Evans Campus 8 am-4 pm Mon-Thurs. (unpaid)

Second nine (9) weeks 1/2 day class, four (4) hours at CCSF Evans Campus, and four hours a day, four days a week for nine weeks (paid) On-The-Job training.

Under immediate supervision, the 9940 Pre-Apprentice Automotive Mechanic performs semi-skilled trainee work designed to introduce career options and role models in connection with the operation, maintenance and repair of automotive vehicles. As part of a Pre-Apprenticeship program, incumbents learn about the work environment, required skilled mechanical work, and real-life experience to help them find employment as an apprentice and eventually as a journey mechanic. The Position

 
The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for entry-level Public Safety Dispatchers.  Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This position operates on a 24-hour, 365 days per year basis, and may be assigned to either a day, swing, or graveyard shift on a regular, rotational basis that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.  Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. Dispatchers receive and transmit emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio traffic as well as process communication reports, records, and radio logs, while maintaining
a high level of confidentiality.  Dispatchers may also support the Police Department by performing clerical tasks, training, assisting with fingerprinting, and being accountable for financial transactions.  This position is integral in supporting the goals and objectives of the City and Police Department.

• Receives and transmits emergency

• Maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records and radio logs.

• Operates a dispatch console, uses Computer Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) System and other computer programs to process information and records.

• Responsible for various Record Management System (RMS) entries, some of these include but are not limited to citations, warrants, subpoenas. 

• Responsible for accurate and timely entries into the California Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (CLETS), as well as, the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).

• Performs collateral duties including a variety of related clerical tasks:
  records entry, assisting in fingerprinting and jail operations, which may include searching prisoners; and is accountable for handling cash, bond, and check transactions.

The Department

The South San Francisco Public Works Department is comprised of its three main divisions - Engineering, Maintenance & Operations, and the Water Quality Control Plant. Together, these divisions ensure that South San Francisco's infrastructure and public services are efficiently managed and maintained, contributing to the overall quality of life in the community.

Located adjacent to San Francisco Bay on Colma Creek, the Water Quality Control Plant (WQCP) provides secondary wastewater treatment for the cities of South San Francisco, San Bruno, and Colma. It also provides the dechlorination treatment of chlorinated effluent for the cities of Burlingame, Millbrae, and the San Francisco International Airport prior to discharging the treated wastewater into San Francisco Bay. The average dry weather flow through the facility is 9 million gallons per day (MGD). Peak wet weather flows can exceed 60 MGD.

This position, which will be focused primarily on long range planning activities, is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to lead or participate in numerous long-range efforts underway including:

• Greater Downtown Area Plan, an update of the City’s vision for Downtown Redwood City and adjacent neighborhoods
• Update to the City’s Historic Preservation Ordinance
• Development of objective design standards
• Implementation of the City’s Housing Element and related policy initiatives
• Research, tracking, and implementation of new State laws
• Development of policies and standards to address climate resilience in coordination with Engineering and Public Works Departments
• Regular maintenance and updates to City’s zoning code and General Plan

In addition to long range planning activities, this position will be assigned a limited number of current planning projects depending on Planning Division needs. The position allows for a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office and 2 days working remotely).

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City’s Library Department –  Downtown Library – is looking for energetic, enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with customers of all ages in a challenging and fun environment, and who are interested in working year-round, 10-15 hours per week including day, evening, weekend, and assigned holiday hours.

Typical duties may include but are not limited to the following: Check in library materials; assist with sorting and shelving library materials; assist customers with use of computers, databases and web searches; troubleshoot computers and printers; perform minor cleaning; and other related duties as assigned.
