What you’ll do, at a glance:
As Transportation Manager, you will lead and shape Redwood City’s transportation systems to support safe, efficient, and sustainable mobility for all. In this role, you will:
- Oversee daily operations and long-range planning for traffic engineering, multimodal transportation, parking and curb management, pavement management, transportation demand management, and traffic safety programs.
- Develop and implement innovative transportation plans, policies, and capital projects that improve mobility, reduce congestion, and enhance safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, and goods movement.
- Direct division budgets, forecast funding needs, secure and administer grants, and ensure effective allocation of resources to meet both operational and long-term infrastructure goals.
- Oversee traffic studies, data analysis, and engineering reviews for development projects to ensure compliance with City standards and inform policy and planning decisions.
- Lead the deployment of traffic signal coordination and emerging technologies to improve system performance and user experience.
- Partner with City departments, regional agencies, and community stakeholders to coordinate transportation initiatives and represent the City on regional boards, committees, and task forces.
- Lead public outreach efforts, respond to traffic concerns, and present plans, policies, and recommendations to City Council, boards, commissions, and community groups.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop professional and technical staff, fostering a collaborative and accountable team environment.
- Monitor advancements in transportation planning, mobility technologies, and regulatory requirements to keep Redwood City at the forefront of innovation.
