Marina Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center, and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position: Marina Attendants provide assistance and information to marina customers, in person and by telephone; perform marina related inspections and boat checks including seaworthiness boat checks and improvement verifications; perform boat measurement and appearance inspections; monitor dock conditions, check seawall and other dock infrastructure, and clear debris from Suisun City waters; perform impound and auction related activities; interpret, apply and explain policies, regulations, codes and procedures relating to slips, moorings and dock structures; assign space for visiting vessels, calculate and collect fees; maintain inventory and operate marina equipment. GENERAL INFO

Under general supervision, the Lifeguard/Swim Instructor I/II performs routine public contact and safety work in serving as a pool lifeguard. They also provide essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program support, and minor maintenance duties relating to aquatics. This temporary, parttime position requires working up to 20 hours per week. The role involves ensuring the health and safety of aquatic patrons, facilities are clean, safe, and operational while delivering excellent customer service. Performs other duties as assigned. 

UNIVERSAL POSITION DUTIES (Applicable to all roles; Illustrative Purposes Only)

• Monitor the swimming pool and enforce safety regulations.
• Assist with aquatics programs, special events, and facility upkeep.

SWIM INSTRUCTOR II – LESSON MANAGER (Illustrative Purposes Only)

• Oversee swim instructors and ensure consistent lesson delivery.
• Arrive 30 minutes prior to and stay 30 minutes after swim lessons for setup and breakdown.
• Assist with instructor training and safety drills.
• Maintain and review lesson records to ensure program quality.

Minimum Qualifications:

• All requirements from Swim Instructor, PLUS:
• Experience: At least 6 months of experience as a Swim Instructor.

· Strength is needed to lift and carry recreation equipment weighing up to 50 pounds for extended periods of time; and flexibility to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects

· Responsibilities include keeping score for youth, recreation, and middle school sporting events using various digital and analog forms of tracking methods

· Track score of youth sporting events via scoreboard technology or statistics booklet

· Organize, track and set-up specific sports equipment (i.e. volleyball poles and nets, basketball hoops and benches)

· Receives general supervision from the Youth and Adult Sports Coordinator

Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor and Senior Lifeguard/Swim Instructor, Lifeguard/Swim Instructor performs a variety of duties to ensure the City of Dixon swimming pool is a safe and enjoyable aquatic facility. Supervises pool patrons, enforces pool rules, performs first aid and emergency rescues, instructs swim lessons, performs cashiering duties, leads recreational activities; performs related and other work as required.

ABOUT THE POSITION

This job entails assisting with planning and leading program activities, supervising youth in arts, crafts, games and sports, performing participant check-in, reception duties, and assisting with equipment set-up, take down and housekeeping, chaperoning participants on field trips, and opening and closing facilities. We’re looking for highly motivated people with a customer service orientation who genuinely enjoy helping others and who are flexible problem-solvers.

The Recreation Specialist is a unique position that is primarily responsible for specific projects or long term projects requiring relevant knowledge and expertise.

A Dance Instructor (Program Specialist) will plan, prepare and instruct recreation activities. Activities may include art, cooking, dance, pre-school program and other program areas. Programs are designed for children ages 4-17 (primarily 5-12) years of age.

• One school year teaching experience
• At least one year's experience working with children in an academic setting
• Must be willing and able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required

The Tiny Tots Instructor will teach assigned classes of pre-school children ranging in ages from 18 months to 5 years old in enrichment, recreational and educational based programming (Tiny Tots Aide will assist).
