THE POSITION

The City of Livermore is currently accepting applications for Librarian I/II with
the Livermore Public Library in Teen Services. This position may be filled at
either level I or II, based on the level of experience of the candidate.
The Librarian I is the entry level position in the professional Librarian series.
Entry into this class requires experience or education related to library or
information science. With experience, the work becomes progressively more
diversified and difficult, requiring independent judgment under general
supervision.

The Librarian II is a journey level professional librarian position which performs
professional level work and specialized librarian duties. Incumbents may be
responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing specialized programs,
such as youth services, electronic services, or collection development.
Adequate performance at this level requires knowledge of library and
department policies, procedures, and activities and the solution of problems
using tact and good judgment. This classification is distinguished from Librarian
I which is the entry level classification in the Librarian series.

The duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Provide library services to teens and their families with enthusiasm and motivation.
• Visit middle schools and high schools to promote library resources.
• Select and maintain teen materials and graphic novel collections.
• Plan, develop, and facilitate teen programs to increase library attendance and teen circulation.
• Recruit, manage, coordinate, and lead Young Adult Volunteers (YAVs) to assist in library events and programs.

Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Farsi, or American Sign Language is
desirable but not required.

This is a seasonal, part-time position for the Parks & Grounds division.

Under the general supervision of a Public Works Streets Supervisor or Parks & Grounds Supervisor, and direction of a Maintenance II lead, incumbents in this classification assist with the cleanup and maintenance of City parks, streets, and satellite facilities including buildings, equipment, bus stops, parking lots, trails, flora and landscapes; and perform related work as required.

THE POSITION:

The City of Hayward is seeking a strategic and collaborative Director of Finance to oversee its centralized financial operations. Reporting directly to the City Manager, this executive role provides leadership in accounting, budgeting, treasury, revenue collection, licensing, purchasing, and data systems. The Director serves as the City's Chief Financial Officer, managing the preparation and oversight of the annual operating and capital improvement budgets, ensuring audit compliance, and maintaining strong internal controls. DESCRIPTION
Water Distribution Operators inspect and repair water meters and water service lines; monitor and record meter readings of water consumption levels and assist with related adjustments as needed; collect and transport water samples for lab analysis; conduct bacteriological testing and monitors chlorine levels; coordinate and monitor construction and improvement projects; conduct inventory and order parts; program pump stations; and perform other duties as assigned. 

As experience is gained and certifications are achieved, promotional opportunities to advance up to a Water Distribution Operator III is possible without having to participate in additional recruitment and testing processes with the City.

The City of Foster City is actively seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to join our team as a Building Services Assistant. In this role, you will provide physical set-up arrangements for classes, meetings, activities for public and private functions in the community buildings; assure security of buildings; and providing public information about recreation activities. This is a part-time, non-benefited position.

Education and Training Guidelines
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way would be: 

• Education: Completion of the tenth grade or equivalent.

Under general supervision of a Police Sergeant, the non-sworn Community Service Aide provides technical police services in crime prevention, crime investigation, and crime response which do not require full police powers and assists police officers in the maintenance of law and order.

CLASS CHACTERISTICS
The Community Service Aide is a journey-level classification, fully competent to independently perform a variety of patrol and special assignment support duties. A Community Service Aide may be assigned to an organizational unit including Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (COPPS) and Investigations. This classification has clear guidelines to help with independent decision-making, and supervision is available when unusual or complex situations arise.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (illustrative only):

• Receive and transmit calls for service over the police radio.
• Issue vehicle parking and registration citations.
• Mark, arrange tow, and maintain files for abandoned vehicles; cite vehicle/owner for violation after a given period of time of being marked.
• Direct traffic at major injury collisions, chemical spills, malfunctioning traffic signals, and special events.
• Drive a marked police vehicle; transport children to foster care facilities, citizens including stranded motorists, and city staff; deliver messages, property, and evidence as dispatched to court, citizens, or other agencies.
• Interview witnesses or others involved search for, collect, and identify evidence; and write reports for crimes with no suspect, lost and found cases, and non-injury collisions.
• Engage in general patrol observation; report any suspicious activity to dispatch and patrol officers.
• Patrol and enforce animal regulation laws and ordinances, which include receiving and investigating complaints and reports regarding stray, dangerous, unwanted or improperly controlled dogs, livestock and other animals; answering emergency calls and investigating persons bitten and quarantining the animal; and impounding, transporting and giving first aid to animals.
• Verify and certify mechanical violations receiving a citation have been corrected.
• Search files for information to aid in apprehending a criminal, returning lost property, determining the disposition of a vehicle and other problem resolution.
• Assist in the processing of evidence to include crime scene photography, sketching, video, evidence collection, and preservation as well as other duties associated with evidence processing. Assist in routine equipment/vehicle maintenance.
• Assist with clerical functions such as entering data and conducting file searches on the computer and typing filing, and form completion.
• Provide municipal code updates and additions for best practices and law changes.
• Coordinate training of both current employees (CPT) and new employees (FTO).
• Testify in court.
• Inspect and clean the holding facilities and radio-equipped vehicles in order to maintain health/safety standards.
• Search and/or obtain specimens from same-sex prisoners.
• Performs related work as required.

Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (COPPS):

• Perform community outreach.
• Assist, participate, and support community events (e.g., Shop with a Cop Coffee with Cops, National Night Out, Summer Sandlot etc.).
• Assist with the neighborhood watch program/meetings.
• Assist with COPPS unit projects.
• Liaison with Youth and Family Services (YFS).
• Performs related work in COPPS as required.

Investigations:

• Ensure registration of habitual sex and narcotic offenders are complete and organized.
• Attend a basic POST approved Crime Scene Investigation course and other applicable, advanced trainings.
• Assist with the collection and preservation of evidence to include taking crime scene photographs, searching and dusting for latent fingerprints, crime scene diagrams, laser scanning of crime scenes, and attending autopsies. Arrange for proper identification of evidence.
• Assist Detectives with basic investigative follow-up (e.g. no identified suspect fingerprint results, gather surveillance footage, etc.)
• Performs related work in Investigations as required.

Join San Bruno Public Works, as a part-time, temporary Maintenance Assistant!

The San Bruno Public Works Department is committed to delivering responsive, professional, and efficient services that maintain and enhance the City’s infrastructure. With responsibility over streets, storm drains, wastewater collection, water distribution, public facilities, and engineering, the department is committed to providing responsive, high-quality service, and plays a vital role in keeping the city safe, clean, and functional.

Under immediate supervision, part-time maintenance assistants perform a range of unskilled and semiskilled tasks that support the day-to-day upkeep of the City’s infrastructure. This is a part-time, temporary position with the Public Works Department (18-20 hours per week) to support the City’s “Cleanup San Bruno” initiative.

Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Cleans and removes debris and litter from parking lots, streets, gutters, storm drains, catch basins, and sidewalks, by shoveling, raking, sweeping, and picking up debris.
• Removal and loading of illegal dumping such as tires, mattresses, and furniture.
• Assists in loading, transporting, and unloading equipment, materials, debris, and other heavy objects related to maintenance.
• Operates a City vehicle and power tools necessary to complete maintenance for the above assigned areas.
• Assists with fire hydrant flushing program.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education, experience, and training that would provide the best qualified candidates. Applicants should have the ability to read, write and carry out oral and written directions. Applicants should also have the ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Ideal candidates will have knowledge of proper use and care of common hand tools, skills performing manual work, and lifting heavy objects up to 50 pounds. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.

Special Requirements:

• Possession of a valid California driver’s license with good driving record (DMV printout required).
