The City of Mill Valley is pleased to welcome applications for Maintenance Worker II - Streets.

As a Maintenance Worker II in our Streets Division, you will help keep Mill Valley’s streets and infrastructure safe, functional, and looking their best. Working under general supervision, you will take on a range of skilled and hands-on tasks including paving, concrete work, storm drain cleaning, and street repair.

Your day might include operating construction equipment, mixing and pouring concrete for sidewalks or curbs, clearing debris from storm drains ahead of the rainy season, or resurfacing a neighborhood street. You will also help direct traffic around work zones, respond to emergency repair needs, and may lead small crews on specific assignments.

This is active, outdoor work that requires physical stamina, attention to safety, and a strong sense of pride in public service. You will work across the city’s neighborhoods and infrastructure, helping maintain the streets and public right-of-ways that residents and visitors rely on every day.

Examples of essential duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 

• Operates and conducts essential maintenance using power-driven street and construction machinery, encompassing auxiliary equipment like gravel spreaders. Tasks include surface preparation for paving, cement mixing, pavement demolition, and operation of concrete cutting equipment.

• Loads, transports and unloads stone, gravel, dirt, asphalt, timber and other materials.

• Clean storm drains.

• Performs concrete work.

• Directs traffic, erects barricades and traffic signs.

• Participates in constructing or resurfacing streets with permanent paving materials.

• Leads small crews in performing of specific tasks.

• Cleans and cares for tools and equipment and responds to emergency calls.

The City of Sebastopol is seeking an engaging, inclusive, collaborative, and talented leader who is well-versed in project management, facility and infrastructure maintenance, water distribution and wastewater collection systems, public parks and facilities maintenance, and related laws, regulations, and safety standards. The Director of Public Works will oversee the City Engineer, direct assigned personnel, and coordinate assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies. This position plans, organizes, directs, and reviews the full range of activities, personnel, and operations of the Department of Public Works, including public works construction and inspection, repair and maintenance of City infrastructure and streets, the contract for City Engineer services, and engineering and transportation permits and programs.

THE POSITION

The City of Livermore is currently accepting applications for Librarian I/II with
the Livermore Public Library in Teen Services. This position may be filled at
either level I or II, based on the level of experience of the candidate.
The Librarian I is the entry level position in the professional Librarian series.
Entry into this class requires experience or education related to library or
information science. With experience, the work becomes progressively more
diversified and difficult, requiring independent judgment under general
supervision.

The Librarian II is a journey level professional librarian position which performs
professional level work and specialized librarian duties. Incumbents may be
responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing specialized programs,
such as youth services, electronic services, or collection development.
Adequate performance at this level requires knowledge of library and
department policies, procedures, and activities and the solution of problems
using tact and good judgment. This classification is distinguished from Librarian
I which is the entry level classification in the Librarian series.

The duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Provide library services to teens and their families with enthusiasm and motivation.
• Visit middle schools and high schools to promote library resources.
• Select and maintain teen materials and graphic novel collections.
• Plan, develop, and facilitate teen programs to increase library attendance and teen circulation.
• Recruit, manage, coordinate, and lead Young Adult Volunteers (YAVs) to assist in library events and programs.

Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Farsi, or American Sign Language is
desirable but not required.

This is a seasonal, part-time position for the Parks & Grounds division.

Under the general supervision of a Public Works Streets Supervisor or Parks & Grounds Supervisor, and direction of a Maintenance II lead, incumbents in this classification assist with the cleanup and maintenance of City parks, streets, and satellite facilities including buildings, equipment, bus stops, parking lots, trails, flora and landscapes; and perform related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (illustrative only):

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Emptying garbage cans.
• Picking up litter and other illegal dumping.

THE POSITION:

The City of Hayward is seeking a strategic and collaborative Director of Finance to oversee its centralized financial operations. Reporting directly to the City Manager, this executive role provides leadership in accounting, budgeting, treasury, revenue collection, licensing, purchasing, and data systems. The Director serves as the City's Chief Financial Officer, managing the preparation and oversight of the annual operating and capital improvement budgets, ensuring audit compliance, and maintaining strong internal controls. This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.   

The Building Inspector Combination/Certified I/II/III/Senior position will be located subject to business need. This position will provide inspection support at a variety of City of San José facilities, including the Airport, Regional Wastewater Facility and Central Service Yard.  

Key responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:  

• Conduct inspections of industrial, commercial, manufacturing, and facilities to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, ordinances, standards, and contract agreements which includes setting up inspection schedules; gathering information and evidence; and, ensuring conformance to plans, specifications, and safety regulations.   

• Investigate building, construction, and land use changes in the field by gathering factual data to ascertain present use of land and location of structures; conducting background investigations and research; and preparing reports to use as evidence.   

• Provide technical assistance for development of codes and policies.   

• Generate written reports and enforcement orders which includes noting deficiencies in standards and submitting final documentation.   

• Review plans and specifications for compliance with codes which includes assisting in projects in complying with regulations, prioritizing deficiencies, and preparing timetables.   

• Provide technical support for agencies and the public which includes inputting data into system for general public access.   

• Meet with architects, engineers, City officials, and building contractors to discuss construction projects.   

• Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
