Effective January 1, 2023, peace officers must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law. There are no specific citizenship requirements per Senate Bill 2. California Government Code Section 1031(h) limits employment authorization documents to those consistent with Section 274a.2 of Title 8 of the Code of Federal Regulations. Specific documentation requirements can be found on the I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification form issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Government Code section 1031(g) permits departments to adopt additional and/or higher standards.

Age not less than 21-years-old at time of appointment to the rank of police officer.

Vision in each eye, correctable to at least 20/30.

Must pass a background investigation.

Must meet all Department medical, physical and psychological standards.

The Position:

This is a non-sworn classification structured for incumbents hired for the purpose of becoming a sworn police officer.  Police Officer Trainees are hired into this civilian position for the period prior and during the time they are assigned to a POST-certified Basic Law Enforcement Academy.  Upon successful completion of training at the academy and upon the availability of a Police Officer position, Police Officer Trainees are sworn in and appointed to the classification of Police Officer.  Police Officer Trainee benefits are limited to those of a civilian employee.

DEFINITION: Under general supervision, responsibilities will include but not be limited to light office tasks, customer service, set up and take down of facility equipment and janitorial tasks. Perform related work as required.

Lead Facilities Attendants are expected to oversee Facility Attendant staff, supporting ongoing training, communication, and tracking of facility rentals, as well as speak and respond to rental related needs/ issues.   This is a part-time, year-round position.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Set up and take down tables, chairs, audio-visual equipment, and other related material and equipment.
• Greet public and provide general information for all Recreation department classes, programs, and events.
• Daily janitorial/maintenance duties such as routine and special cleaning of restrooms, community center rooms (i.e. wipe counters, vacuum floors, sweep walkways, empty trash receptacles, replace paper products and litter pick-up).
• Monitors guest activities in the community center and enforce all rules, regulations and safety principals.
• Assist in opening and closing procedures for the entire Community Center.
• Occasionally assist with the coordination and execution of Department-sponsored outdoor events or classes.

Oral Interview: Qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a panel interview with the Sheriff’s Office Professional Standards Bureau.

 

Physical Agility Exam: Qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a physical agility test which may include, but is not limited to, the following events: weight drag, obstacle course, fence/wall climb and 1.5 mile run completed in 15 minutes or less.

The Process Control Technician performs a variety of technical and professional engineering duties related to the design, installation, set-up, programming, troubleshooting and maintenance of hardware, software and instrumentation associated with the District’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.

They support Operations and Maintenance by troubleshooting, researching, designing, purchasing, and installing field instrumentation, programmable logic controller (PLC), operator interface terminals (OIT), variable speed drives, electrical systems, and other appurtenances. Qualifications

The Belmont Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting for part-time Building Attendants. Building Attendants provide operational supervision of facilities during the absence of full-time staff.

Building Attendant I - This is the entry level class in the Building Attendant series.  Incumbents in this class work under close supervision.  As experience is gained, incumbents may be granted more independence of action under established guidelines.

Building Attendant II - This is the journey level class in the Building Attendant series. Incumbents are expected to work independently in the absence of close supervision.

The Office of the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder and Chief Elections Officer is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Principal Appraiser.  Principal Appraisers must have thorough knowledge of Property Tax and the Revenue and Taxation Code as it relates to Real Property Valuation, Change in Ownership reassessment or exclusion requirements, New Construction valuation, Decline in Value valuation, Property Classification, etc.
 
The department currently has two vacancies in the areas of Residential and Commercial real property appraisal and assessment.
 
The Principal Appraisers share a critical role in assisting the Chief Appraiser and Deputy Assessor in the completion of the Office's mission to determine the assessed value of all taxable property located in San Mateo County, the creation of the official record of taxable property (approximately 240,000 assessments each year in the local assessment roll), and the sharing of this information with the County Controller and Tax Collector and making it publicly available.
 
This is an exciting time for seasoned Principal Appraisers to join our dynamic team of Appraisal professionals. The Assessor's Office is currently involved in several major projects, including the development of a new Assessor's Property Assessment System (APAS), and the appraisal and assessment of several large-scale new generation commercial, manufacturing, research and development, and mixed-use developments being built throughout San Mateo County.  Principal Appraisers may be called upon to provide subject matter expertise in the development of the Assessor's Property Assessment System.

 

Examples Of Duties

The technically-savvy and experienced individuals hired for these positions will have the responsibility to supervise appraisal and exemption staff in the timely collection, processing, and analysis of valuation data for real, personal, tangible, and intangible property for tax assessment purposes, and to manage the impact of the new regulations.
 

Additional responsibilities and duties of these Principal Appraisers will include (but are not limited to):

• Planning, organizing, training, supervising, reviewing, and evaluating the work of appraisal staff
• Providing advanced support in the most difficult, specialized, or high-value or high-risk appraisals

• Managing, analyzing, and evaluating special projects
• Providing subject matter expert (SME) advice to IT analysts/team in the development of the new Assessor Property Assessment System

THE DEPARTMENT AND DIVISION
The mission of the Office of the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder and Chief Elections Officer is to ensure equitable treatment of County property owners by accurate and fair valuation of land, improvements, and businesses; to create an accurate public record of recorded transactions relating to people and property within San Mateo County; and to register County citizens to vote and efficiently conduct honest elections.
 
The Department is responsible for:

• The maintenance of 240,000 assessments and a local property tax roll of over $238 billion.
• The maintenance of County birth, death, and marriage records.
• The maintenance of over 3,000,000 recorded land records.
• The facilitation of local elections.
• The maintenance of the voter registration rolls representing over 330,000 County voters.

 
The Department is also responsible for a budget of $20 million, election billing to all jurisdictions, and 15 governmental trust funds.
 
 

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification: Acquisition within one year of appointment of a permanent Property Tax Appraiser Certificate issued by the California State Board of Equalization.  
 
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
 
The preferred qualifications include:

• A Bachelor's degree, and
• Six years of experience performing a full range of appraisals of tangible and taxable property, of which three years are for tax assessment purposes preferably with an Assessor's Office in California, and
• Experience appraising and assessing at least 3,000 or more residential properties, and
• Three years of experience with Assessment Appeals

Additional preferred qualifications include:
 

• Previous completion of advanced level courses offered by the California Board of Equalization and/or the Appraisal Institute
• Advanced Appraiser Certification issued by the State Board of Equalization.

Three years of experience as a Sr. Appraiser with San Mateo County Assessor's Office is considered qualifying experience.
 
The preferred and most highly qualified candidates will have experience in both the commercial and residential areas.
 
Specialized knowledge of Property Tax Rules and Regulations and Revenue and Taxation Code as they relate to Change in Ownership, Transfers, Assessments, etc., is a plus.

The first phase of the examination process will consist of an application screening (weight: pass/fail).  Those who pass the application screening will be invited to the second phase of the examination process, the panel interview, which could include the evaluation of a brief written and/or performance exercise given immediately preceding the interview.  In order to be considered for the position, applicants will have to successfully pass the interview.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael is recruiting for the position of Police Cadet (3 positions available).  This is an excellent job opportunity for students interested in law enforcement.  Under direct supervision, this fixed-term/limited term, civilian position provides general and specific information and assistance to the public.  The position also provides logistical assistance to all police department functions.  The primary assignments for the Cadet position are crime prevention, patrol support, and records/front office support. 

This position performs the following essential job duties:

• Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment
• Photocopies documents, files reports and manages additional work requests
• Uses personal computers and software applications for data entry and records maintenance
• Ensures proper calibration and maintenance of technical equipment and instruments
• Cleans and maintains work areas and machinery
• Assists with vehicle fleet cleaning and maintenance
• Performs related duties as required

To be eligible for this position you must have knowledge of:

• Must accept “limited term” appointment requirement as a condition of employment. 
• Must possess a valid California drivers’ license and have a safe driving record. 
• Preference given to college students preparing for a career in law enforcement.

About this role
We are seeking responsible, reliable and enthusiastic individuals to manage and oversee for Adult Sports Leagues. This position will be responsible for staffing and managing all Adult Sport games on a field or in a gym, including scorekeepers and communication with the sport official’s association, and managing the adult sports scheduling and score reporting online. This is a part time, non-benefited position, up to 30 hours per week and limited to 960 hours in a fiscal year (July-June). You must be available to work Monday-Friday during the hours of 4:30pm-10:15pm and occasional weekends. This position is year-round.

• Assists in tracking payroll for all per diem workers
• If necessary, will cover shifts for scorekeeping or gym attendant when no subs are available
• Back up to the field preparation position
• Manage the gym schedule, staffing and be a back up to rental officers, if necessary
• Takes game photos of all Sport League games
• Provide excellent customer service.

DEFINITION: Under general supervision, the Field Monitor provides operational support and supervision of Mill Valley parks, outdoor fields, offsite facilities, and occasionally the Mill Valley Community Center. This is a part-time, year-round position.

• Patrol field, park and offsite facilities to monitor rental schedules and permitted use.
• Act as a liaison to the outdoor recreational community for the Recreation Department.
