Applications are being accepted for the position of Public Works Maintenance Worker with the City of South San Francisco. This is a non-benefited, part-time/hourly position.

The Department 

The Public Works department is comprised of the Maintenance, Engineering and WQCP (Water Quality Control Plant) divisions. The Maintenance Division is responsible for all of the asphalt and concrete streets within the City as well as all of the associated signalized intersections, streetlights, road signs and traffic markings.  The division also maintains the sanitary sewer/storm system which includes all of the sanitary sewer lines, all of the storm lines and catch basins, several storm water pump stations, as well as various large storm water trash capture devices throughout the City.

THE POSITION

Under close to general supervision, this hourly position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the downtown corridor, including the removal of litter, debris, and illegal dumping. Duties are primarily driven by SeeClickFix service requests and may include other related maintenance and cleaning tasks as assigned.
 

IDEAL CANDIDATE 

The ideal candidate will have experience with outdoor maintenance work and be familiar with basic tools, equipment, and safety practices related to cleaning and debris removal in public spaces. They will take pride in keeping high-visibility areas clean and welcoming, respond promptly to service requests (such as those submitted through SeeClickFix), and interact professionally with the public and City staff. The ideal candidate will be reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team, using sound judgment while following established safety procedures.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES (may include but are not limited to the following):

• Conduct daily cleaning and maintenance of the City’s downtown corridor, ensuring all public areas are free of litter and debris.
• Efficiently empty, clean and service all City owned trash receptacles, adhering to waste disposal and sanitation standards.
• Respond to requests for service in real time via smart device.
• Uses a variety of hand and power tools in connection with the above duties; operates light, motorized equipment, such as pick-ups, flatbeds, and dump trucks.
• Identify and report maintenance issues, safety hazards or vandalism during routine duties to appropriate City personnel.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

Experience: One year of experience in general construction or maintenance work.

Training: Equivalent to graduation from high school.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The City of Pacifica is recruiting for a Public Works Superintendent within the Department of Public Works. Under the direction of the Field Services Manager, the incumbents will be responsible for the field services of the Public Works Department. They will plan, organize, and direct the work of field personnel and perform related work as required. The incumbents will be assigned to oversee various subdivisions such as Streets, Streams, Storm Drains, Street Lighting, and Motor Pool programs.

 

THE DEPARTMENT

The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining and repairing the City’s infrastructure and wastewater treatment operations in an efficient and cost-effective manner while providing a high level of customer service and a safe work environment for city employees. The Department maintains parks, playing fields and medians and keeps streets and trails clean and well-maintained. The Department also coordinates the tree program, cleans beaches and coordinates the City Beautification program.

 

The Public Works Department is organized into three divisions including Wastewater Treatment Operations, Field Services and Engineering. The Wastewater Treatment Operations includes the operation of the Calera Creek water treatment plant and management of the collection system. Field Services oversees the maintenance of city streets, parks, trees, vehicles and public facilities. The Engineering Division manages public infrastructure projects, transportation planning and maintenance and repair of the City’s infrastructure. The Public Works Department is supported by 56 full-time staff and an annual operating budget of $4.6 million, along with a FY2023-2028 CIP appropriation of $ 8.6 million.

PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives direction from the Field Services Manager or designee. Exercises general supervision over supervisory, professional, technical and administrative support staff through subordinate levels of supervision.

The City of Menlo Park is seeking a Regulatory Compliance Analyst for the Public Works Department. Under general direction, the Regulatory Compliance Analyst coordinates and oversees the planning, development, and implementation of regulatory programs within the Public Works Department. The role involves organizing, investigating, developing, directing, and managing the activities of regulatory programs to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws related to engineering and related fields. The Regulatory Compliance Analyst will maintain a thorough understanding of the laws and regulations set forth by various federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. Additionally, this specialist will inspect properties, facilities, operations, and construction activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

About the Department

The Public Works Department consists of approximately 72 full time employees and is responsible for maintaining and improving the City’s streets, parks, water and stormwater systems, traffic signals, fleet, and public buildings.  Public Works provides many of the basic services affecting the daily lives of everyone living, working, visiting, and commuting within the City, including:  

• 26 City-owned buildings/facilities and their grounds
• A fleet of over 250 vehicles and pieces of equipment
• 97 miles of streets
• Drinking water delivery for 16,000 customers
• Flood protection and stormwater management programs particularly along the San Francisco Bay, San Francisquito Creek and Atherton Channel
• 14 parks, 2 open spaces, 14 playgrounds, 2 dog parks, 9 sports fields, and 14 tennis/pickleball courts
• Efforts to preserve and expand the urban canopy, including 20,000 public trees
• Multimodal transportation services including 42 traffic signals, safe routes to schools and citywide shuttle programs. 

The department has nearly a $40 million operating budget supported by over 25 different special/dedicated funding sources for the varied programs and services provided to the community. In addition, the City has an approximate $100 million capital improvement program, in part due to a successful track record in pursuing grants from a variety of local, state and federal sources. The Engineering and Transportation Department is supported by 27 FTEs, 9 contract employees, and a FY 2025-26 Capital Budget of approximately $72.9 million covering infrastructure and transportation projects. The Five-Year CIP (FY 2025-26 to FY 2029-30) totals $372 million, including citywide projects. Major projects include an impressive list of transportation projects, such as the SR84/US101 Freeway Interchange, grade separations along the Caltrain rail line, parking, transportation demand management and Vision Zero implementation, and various traffic calming and roadway projects. ABOUT THE AIR DISTRICT

The Bay Area Air District (Air District) created in 1955, is the state’s first regional agency to regulate air pollution. The Air District was created during this time, as the air in the Bay Area was often unhealthy to breathe due to burning, vehicle exhaust, and factories polluting the air.

The Air District is tasked with regulating stationary sources of air pollution in the nine counties that surround the San Francisco Bay: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, southwestern Solano, and southern Sonoma counties. Information Services is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the Air District’s information technology infrastructure. This includes managing servers and networks, telecommunications, cybersecurity, business continuity, and disaster recovery systems. Information Services also provides user support to Air District staff and technical assistance to external stakeholders, ensuring seamless and secure access to online services. By focusing on resilience and continuous improvement, Information Services safeguards the Air District’s data and systems against evolving threats and disruptions and fosters effective implementation of initiatives to improve air quality, protect public health, and address environmental challenges in the Bay Area.

Strategic Innovation
The position will oversee additional projects that aim to modernize Air District operations and bring innovative solutions to advance the Air District’s mission. The Judicial Council of California is accepting applications for the position of Associate Fiscal Analyst for the Budget Services office.   

The Associate Fiscal Analyst plays a key role in developing and implementing the annual budget for California’s 58 trial courts. Responsibilities include: (1) gathering, verifying, and compiling court data to support budget creation, (2) processing payments for trial court reimbursement programs, and (3) preparing monthly distribution templates in the FI$Cal system to allocate operational funding. Under general supervision, the Lifeguard/Swim Instructor I/II performs routine public contact and safety work in serving as a pool lifeguard. They also provide essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program support, and minor maintenance duties relating to aquatics. This temporary, parttime position requires working up to 20 hours per week. The role involves ensuring the health and safety of aquatic patrons, facilities are clean, safe, and operational while delivering excellent customer service. Performs other duties as assigned.

Monitor the swimming pool and enforce safety regulations.

The Superior Court of California, County of San Mateo seeks highly qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Court Executive Officer.

 

As a key member of the executive management team, the Deputy Court Executive Officer will provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Court Executive Officer/Clerk/Jury Commissioner.  The Deputy Court Executive (DCEO) will participate in strategic planning and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the operations, support, and administration divisions of the Court.  This will include directing all criminal, family law, civil, juvenile, small claims, traffic, and probate clerk office functions.

 

The DCEO will also oversee all staffing and personnel functions including recruitment, retention, training and development, and disciplinary action.  The DCEO will research and review new technology systems that could assist the Court in meeting workload requirements and will oversee the implementation of new systems and, when necessary, the modification of existing systems.  In addition, the DCEO will write, review, monitor, and manage contracts with vendors providing services and materials.

 

Significant to the role, the DCEO will analyze new legislation and the legislation’s impact on the Court, will communicate with the executive team about new legislative or statutory requirements needed to successfully operate the court, and will establish procedures to conform to new laws.

 

In addition to internal operations, the DCEO will serve as liaison with the court, County departments, agencies, and the public, and will work with other criminal justice agencies to implement new or mandated programs.

• Direct, supervise, and guide Court managers and supervisors or staff of a major division by establishing goals, policies, and performance standards, conducting periodic evaluations for the staff members' performance, and counseling staff members regarding their performance and career development consistent with the departmental mission and expectations.
• Work with judges, attorneys, internal staff, and external departments to define and coordinate a variety of activities such as forecasting trial court needs, arranging for jurors, and assigning visiting judges.
• Consult with and advise other County staff and the public regarding Court policy issues and participate in the development of standards and programs relating to these policies.
• Consult and cooperate with other agencies and departments on all aspects of the Court’s operations, discuss problems and develop alternatives and strategies for dealing with those problems, and assist in implementation of solutions.
• Develop effective statistical and recordkeeping systems, analyze new laws and requirements that may impact these systems, and revise systems as needed.
• Direct and counsel managers, supervisors or staff in planning, resource allocation, personnel actions, budgeting, and record systems needed to meet the Court’s responsibilities.
• Assist in the preparation and administration of the Court budget.
• Perform a variety of special assignments and prepare complex analytical and statistical reports in all areas of Court management, as assigned.
• Perform any additional court administration or operations-related duties and tasks as assigned by the Court Executive Officer.

 

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

• Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in judicial, public, or business administration or a closely related field, or a graduate degree in these same fields; however, additional qualifying experience as described below and relevant course work outside of degree programs may substitute for the required education on a year-to-year basis.
• Experience: Seven years of increasingly responsible experience performing a wide variety of duties related to management in, preferably but not limited to, a court setting including at least one full year of progressively responsible experience in a senior level administrative, executive, or management position.

 

Knowledge of:

• All aspects of Court Administration including appropriate methods, procedures, and technical expertise.
• Pertinent state and federal laws and regulations regarding Court management.
• Organizational, administrative, and management principles and practices.
• Conflict resolution, training and development, and mentoring for management team direct reports as well as organizational development.
• Supervisory techniques, resource allocation, planning and budgeting.
• Budget principles and procedures.
• Change management and implementation of process refinement, improvement, and documentation.
• Statistical analysis and presentation of data-driven decision making.
• Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment.

 

Skill/Ability to:

• Direct and coordinate all aspects of the Court’s administration.
• Provide mentoring and development plans of action for the management and supervisor team members in court administration.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate the work of professional, technical, and clerical staff.
• Analyze and evaluate statistical data and reports related to Court management.
• Interpret, apply, and explain Court policies and state and federal legislation related to divisional operations.
• Establish and evaluate policies, procedures, and controls related to the Court programs.
• Prepare a variety of complex analytical reports and documentation.
• Present complex data-driven decision to lay and non-lay persons who participate in the decision-making process
• Represent the Court under diverse circumstances and prepare and deliver oral presentations to small and large groups.
• Effectively and persuasively communicate both orally and in writing.
• Identify existing or potential problems, secure relevant information and data from a variety of sources, determine probable causes, and effect appropriate solution.
• Successfully develop, control, and monitor the Court’s budget and expenditure.
• Utilize appropriate interpersonal style and methods of communication to gain acceptance, cooperation, or agreement of a plan, activity, and/or program idea.
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.

Position Summary
Fitness Instructors/Personal Trainers play a key role in supporting clients’ health and fitness goals by:

• Leading group strength and conditioning classes and personal training sessions.
• Designing safe and effective individualized fitness programs.
• Monitoring client progress, ensuring proper form, and providing feedback.
• Creating a motivating, positive environment for participants.
• Delivering excellent customer service and addressing fitness-related inquiries.
• Ensuring the fitness facility is safe, clean, and fully operational.

 

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
• Current certification in personal training or group fitness instruction (e.g., ACE, NASM, or other recognized certification).
• At least one year of experience in fitness instruction, personal training, or related field preferred.
• Experience in strength and conditioning, group instruction, and one-on-one training is highly desirable.

 

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of strength and conditioning techniques, fitness principles, and wellness practices.
• Ability to motivate and instruct individuals and groups effectively.
• Strong communication skills for clear instruction and positive feedback.
• Skill in assessing client needs and designing individualized programs.
• Ability to safely operate and maintain fitness equipment.

 

Special Requirements: 

• Current certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). 

• Fitness certifications (e.g., Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor) from a nationally recognized organization.
