After School Program Technician I's work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist II. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19-29 hours per week.

The Position: Under general supervision, this position involves organizing, leading, and coordinating a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational and educational activities for an Afterschool Program. This role is classified as Temporary Part-Time to support both seasonal and year-round recreational programs.

On April 29, 2025, Suisun City Council approved a new contract between the Suisun City RPM Department and the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD). This agreement expands after school programming to include to grades TK-5 at Dan O. Root Elementary and Crescent Elementary Schools, making the Suisun City RPM Department the sole provider of after school services at both locations. DEFINITION: Under general supervision the aide assists in planning, organizing, and implementing preschool programming for children ages 3-5 years old. Program hours are M-F PM 8:30am – 1:00pm and/or MWF 8:30am - 1:00pm. Approximately 15 – 30 hours a week. Substitute and floating positions also available 8:30am - 1:00pm.

THE POSITION

The City of San Rafael is seeking a motivated, civic and safety-minded Communications and Engagement Intern to support equitable outreach and engagement through the Fire Department's external communications, digital content, and public engagement initiatives. This temporary, part-time role is ideal for individuals interested in learning more about local government and public communications.

Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Emergency Management, the intern will assist with day-to-day communications tasks such as social media content creation, newsletter writing, website updates, and public information campaigns.  This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to real-time public service storytelling and information sharing.  This is a part-time/temporary position, limited to 1,000 hours worked within a fiscal year (July 1 through June 30) that receives no City benefits.  This position will work for up to 30 hours per week (days/hours may vary).

The Director of Public Works is a regular, full-time, administrative, at-will, exempt position. The City of Patterson is seeking to fill one (1) part-time vacancy for a Facility Attendant in the Recreation Department and to establish an eligibility list.

Duties include, but are not limited to: under direct supervision, performs a variety of facility related tasks to ensure effective operations at the Recreation and Community Services Complex and related facilities and parks. THE POSITION

Under supervision, performs skilled and technical fire suppression and prevention activities. Must be prepared to act up to the next rank as needed and performs other related duties as required.

PREREQUISITES

THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Public Works (PW) is committed to providing the highest standards of service delivery to the community as it works to build, maintain, and update the City’s civic infrastructure. Public Works is comprised of approximately 50 employees with a general budget of $33 million and a Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budget that ranges between $15–$30 million depending on the City’s annual infrastructure needs. 

Its mission is to ensure San Rafael’s infrastructure meets the needs of a vibrant and growing city through careful management of major improvements and the maintenance of the City’s assets. Recently, the Department underwent a process of restructuring so that management of all City engineers is now under the Assistant Director for enhanced oversight, communication, and workflow. The City champions the Department's Dean Allison Award internship program annually, which shepherds talented young graduates into local government and encourages engagement with the public sector of California. PW is also currently completing several exciting initiatives to improve transformation, accessibility, and maintenance of the City’s infrastructure while also adding recreation spaces for the public to enjoy.

THE POSITION

The mission of the Senior Management Analyst in the City of San Rafael’s Public Works Department is to provide strategic analysis, fiscal oversight, public communications,  and management projects that enhance the City’s infrastructure, services, and quality of life. This role works to build relationships through internal and external stakeholder collaboration and issue resolution. Data-driven insights, innovative problem-solving, and collaborative partnerships all play a critical role in advancing the Department’s efficiency, accountability, communications, and service delivery.

• Assists or leads projects, tasks, and assignments that are priorities for the Mayor and City Council and/or the senior management staff.
• Assumes direct responsibility for managing a variety of projects and programs; oversee assigned administrative support functions including budget.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities. A typical way to obtain these would be:

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration or a related field. A master’s degree in public administration, public policy, or business administration is highly desirable.

The Parks and Public Works Project Analyst:
 

• Supports municipal Parks and Public Works programs, services, and operations through research, analysis, and administrative project leadership.
• Supports the preparation and review of consultant agreements, professional service contracts, and related procurement processes.
• Prepares, edits and presents a variety of documents such as staff reports, policies, ordinances, and procedural guidelines to the leadership team, Town Council, boards and commissions, the public, etc. 
• Serves as an administrative project lead, coordinating assigned projects without direct supervisory responsibility.
• Works collaboratively with senior administrative staff, department leadership, and cross-departmental teams.
• Conducts research and analysis to support the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs, policies, and procedures.
• Develops, administers, and monitors contracts, grants, budgets, special projects, business and legal documents, as assigned
• Provides feedback on documents developed by members of the PPW leadership team.
• Conducts organizational, program, and policy-related studies and present findings and recommendations.

About the Department
The Parks and Public Works Department (PPW) is responsible for the maintenance and improvements of the Town's public parks, facilities, streets, and other infrastructure. Our goal is to efficiently provide residents, businesses, and visitors with the highest quality service possible, with dedication and professionalism. The Department has five service areas: Engineering, Capital Improvement, Streets and Signals, Parks, and Environmental Services. The Department also collaborates with all Town departments, and external partners and stakeholders.

• Engineering includes capital planning and project delivery, traffic engineering, and land use review and administration.

• Park and Streets Operations: This dedicated team of field staff manage the Town’s 113 miles of roadways and 17 parks and open space areas.

• Fleet and Facilities: The staff in this team manages all Town-owned buildings and oversee  the Town's fleet, including public works heavy equipment, and Los Gatos Monte Sereno Police Department vehicles.

• Arborist Services: The Town Arborist manages the Town’s 14000 trees, and oversees routine maintenance of these trees and the administration of tree removal permits.

• Environmental Services: Environmental staff work with the Town’s stormwater and waste hauling joint powers authorities to ensure compliance with state and federal laws related to these technical areas.

• Administrative Services: The Administrative team supports department operations, providing budget management, contract and procurement quality control, fiscal administrative support, park reservations, preparation of reports and documents, and various other services.

The Town of Los Gatos is a general law city operating under the Council/Manager form of government. The Town Manager and Town Attorney are appointed and directly report to the Town Council.
