The City of Auburn is hiring for the seasonal, part-time Bus Driver I position in the Auburn Transit Department.

Auburn Transit is looking for qualified individuals to join our transit team. These positions are seasonal, part-time and each has a maximum of 999 hours of work per fiscal year. The incumbent's schedule will be flexible, based on the needs of the department, community transit needs and employee availability.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

This position operates a variety of transit and General Public Paratransit (GPPV) vehicles to transport passengers in a safe, courteous and reliable manner. The incumbent will learn all transit laws, operating procedures and policies. 

Auburn Transit provides fixed and on-demand transportation services to the community. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Bus Driver I is an entry-level classification responsible for routine tasks and operation of specific transit vehicles. It is essential incumbents learn all transit laws, operating procedures and policies. The role is performed under direct supervision from the Transportation Supervisor or designee and does not involve supervision over other staff.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Actual work may vary based on department needs or change due to evolving business practices.

• Operates a bus or other General Public Paratransit (GPPV) vehicles on City streets and highways in all weather conditions to transport passengers on established routes with designated stops, on-demand rideshare services, field trips and special events.
• Ensures passenger safety by observing passenger behavior, verifying safety belts are secured and rendering aid to passengers in an emergency.
• Assists passengers boarding and deboarding as needed or requested, including senior citizens, individuals with disabilities and care-dependent persons.
• Operates a smart device and two-radio to respond to transit dispatch and on-demand rideshare requests requiring adjustments to existing schedules and routes.
• Operates automatic wheelchair lifts, collects fares, issues passes, secures wheelchairs and other assistive devices.
• Promptly notifies management and completes reports regarding accidents and incidents involving vehicles and passengers.
• Conducts mandatory daily pre-trip vehicle inspections adhering to state and city regulations before each route, including reporting inspection results, daily trip logs, and required vehicle repairs and maintenance.
• Performs minor maintenance, repair and cleaning of transit vehicles and fleet storage facility.
• Adheres to all public transit federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.
• Maintains a valid California driver’s license and passenger certifications required by the state vehicle code, Department of Motor Vehicles, Department of Transportation and other applicable standards.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Reserve Firefighter will respond to and participate in fire suppression, hazardous materials, rescue and medical operations requiring full unassisted ambulatory activity including bending, stooping, lifting up to 100 pounds, walking on uneven surfaces, squatting, climbing, lying prone, and running. Work is performed indoors and outdoors, and exposure to water, heat, fire, smoke and other hazardous substances. Reserve Firefighters will wear self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), protective clothing and boots, operate heavy rescue equipment and administer medical treatment to ill and injured persons.

Please Note:  Reserve Firefighters will be required to work a minimum of two (2) shifts or 48 hours.

POSITION
To perform a variety of tasks in the maintenance of City-owned buildings, equipment and facilities.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current temporary/part-time vacancy in our Community Services Department and to create a list for future vacancies.

Candidates who do not currently meet the minimum qualifications for the Facilities Maintenance Worker I position may be considered for an Intern position instead.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate for this position will have previous facility maintenance experience, although not required. The Ideal Candidate will be able to follow directions, demonstrate good communication skills (orally and in writing), be flexible, have good attendance, a positive attitude and a willingness to take on new tasks as requested.  The ability to speak and understand Spanish is a desirable quality.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

A primary function of this position is janitorial services. Will include set up and cleanup of special events. Prepare simple activity and related reports; maintain inventory and work records as required. Perform other facility maintenance duties as assigned. Work cooperatively with others. Regular and consistent attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS
Facility Maintenance Worker I

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Six (6) months of work experience in carpentry, electrical and maintenance work is desirable.

Facility Maintenance Worker I:              $23.31 - $29.75 per hour

Intern:                                                        $17.00 - $21.00 per hour

WORK HOURS
Position works approximately 16-20 hours per week in the afternoons and evenings and will require some weekend hours.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Receives general direction from a Police Captain, Lieutenant, or designee. Exercises direct supervision over assigned records staff and may exercise indirect supervision over temporary staff and/or volunteers, as assigned.

• May testify in court regarding police records, processes, and/or authenticity of records, as required.

Physical Demands

POSITION

Perform routine non-hazardous police office activities.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

Issues, receives, types, and processes various applications, permits, and other forms; processes warrants, permits, and citations; collects and processes fees and charges. Entries and modifications into a state and nationwide system. Processes police reports including receiving, reviewing, copying, distributing, filing, and making corrections as applicable. Logs subpoenas; collects, posts, and distributes department mail.  Answers a multi-line telephone system, providing information or routing calls to appropriate individuals. Types, proofreads, and processes a variety of documents including general correspondence, memos, and legal documents. Operates standard office equipment including computer remote terminals. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

File routine reports and correspondence; perform general clerical duties using typewriter and word processor.  Respond to citizen requests for information and assistance.  Complete minor reports as required. Retrieve and input data into computer terminal. Receive calls and take messages. Accumulate data and prepare monthly statistical reports.  Process requests for copies of reports from both citizens and other criminal justice agencies. Inventory supplies and order when necessary.  Process monies and fees via the cash register, prepare licenses and permits, prepare and issue bills, complete citation sign-offs.  Prepare correspondences to victims of crime.  Complete and prepare background and record checks.  Process voluntary bookings and court ordered registrations.  Perform fingerprinting and Live Scan digital printing.  Assist in the transportation of property and evidence. QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience: One (1) year of general administrative office work experience OR six (6) months of administrative office work in a law enforcement agency. Prefer experience with substantial public interaction.

License or Certificate: Possession of a valid California driver’s license required upon hire.

The City of Lincoln is creating an applicant pool for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher I/II within the Police Department.  Interested applicants may submit their application to be part of the applicant pool.  As new vacancies occur, the recruitment team will review applications for consideration.

The dispatch center provides public safety dispatch services for the Lincoln Police Department and three Lincoln Fire stations. The communications center is staffed 24/7 and dispatchers work in pairs or solo. Public safety dispatchers answer emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire and other city services. Dispatchers prioritize calls and dispatch public safety units as needed. Heavy phone and radio use is a primary duty of the position. Other duties include clerical and specialized record keeping functions.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Public Safety Dispatcher I
The Public Safety Dispatcher I is the entry level class in which incumbents learn to perform and perform Police Dispatcher duties under immediate supervision. This classification is alternatively staffed with Public Safety Officer II and incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience and demonstrating a level of proficiency that meets the qualifications of the higher class.

Public Safety Dispatcher II
The Public Safety Dispatcher II is the working level class in which incumbents are expected to perform the full range of Police Dispatcher duties with minimum supervision and apply sound judgment regarding their scope of authority in dispatching personnel. This classification is distinguished from the Community Service Officer series in that the latter performs duties involving work in taking reports in the field and performing face-to-face public service activities.

Public Safety Dispatcher II

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Receives and enters calls for police, fire and medical service in CAD; dispatches and tracks field units; interprets level of service needed through information obtained from field officers or citizens; coordinates multi-agency responses when necessary; transfers calls to appropriate agencies if warranted.
• Responds to questions and concerns from the general public, department staff and other agencies; takes and records telephone and counter reports; provides information as appropriate and resolves service issues and complaints.
• Enters and maintains accurate data and information into the California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS) including stolen vehicles, and missing and unidentified persons; enters and retrieves information from a variety of state and local automated systems; validates selected records from the Department of Justice files including vehicles, boats and missing persons; releases impounded vehicles; processes reports and citations; collects and maintains statistical information.
• Learns and develops an understanding of applicable policies, procedures, and work methods associated with assigned duties.
• Photocopies and distributes crime, incident, arrest and accident reports to the general public and various agencies such as the Department of Justice (DOJ), California Highway Patrol, District Attorney, Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and insurance companies; prepares reports for court; applies federal, state and local laws when releasing information.
• Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies and associations, City management and staff, and the public.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily office activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in preparing reports and retrieving and entering data using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading work related documents and using the computer, and acute hearing is required when providing phone, dispatch and face to face service. The need to lift, drag, and push files, paper, and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (The following are a representative sample of the KSAs necessary to perform essential duties of the position. The level and scope of the knowledge and abilities listed below vary between the I and II levels.)

Knowledge of:

Under immediate supervision, the Customer Service Technician performs a variety of customer service and billing support duties, including processing payments, maintaining customer accounts, responding to billing inquiries, and coordinating service orders. The position also provides administrative support to an assigned supervisor and performs related work as required.

This is the entry-level class in the Customer Service series. Employees in this class typically have little or no directly related work experience but demonstrate the ability to perform the full scope of duties and meet performance standards. Incumbents work under close supervision while learning job tasks, progressing to general supervision as procedures and processes are learned.

• Two (2) years of responsible experience similar to Customer Service Technician is desirable

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by coursework in business or accounting is desirable

• Valid California Class C Driver’s License may be required. A satisfactory driving record is required.
