Glenn County is recruiting an individual to fill a full time position in the Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker I/II/III position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled labor in the construction, maintenance and repair of County roads, bridges, and other related structures, and in various traffic control maintenance and  repair activities of the Public Works Agency; operates a variety of construction, maintenance and transportation equipment as necessary to complete daily tasks at the Glenn County Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker III position is the journey-level class in the series, and is distinguished from the Public Works Maintenance Worker II by the primary responsibility to operate heavy diesel and gasoline-powered construction equipment in the maintenance of roadways, drainage systems. 
 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Prepares roads for patch repairs, overlays, or chip seals; prepares mix for patching roads; repairs and reconstructs roads.
• Cleans roadsides and drainage systems; inspects and clears debris from drainage systems; conducts roadside burning as needed.
• Prunes trees and other vegetation as needed.
• Directs and controls traffic around work sites.
• Operates semi-trucks, dump trucks, water trucks, boom truck, front loader, rollers, snow plow, etc.; operates a compressor, sand blasters, jack hammer, chipper machine, welding equipment, cutting torch, compaction tools, weed eater, blower, and other hand and power tools.

I-   $19.21 - $23.35 Per Hour
II-  $20.72 - $25.19 Per Hour
III- $21.77 - $26.47 Per Hour

The County of Yuba is currently accepting full time and extra help employment applications for the position of Office Specialist within the Community Development and Services Agency.  Under general supervision, incumbents perform a variety of administrative, secretarial, and office support duties of considerable complexity, requiring thorough know ledge of the assigned department, division, or program, its procedures and operational details; provides administrative support to various department staff; composes and prepares correspondence using judgment in content and style; performs skilled word processing, data entry and organization, telephone and counter reception, processing of invoices, recordkeeping, statistical and technical report preparation, and filing; provides information to the public and County staff; and performs related duties as assigned.  

Note: Office Specialist is a County-wide classification. The employment list established from this recruitment may be utilized to fill additional vacancies within the same classification in other departments including law enforcement departments such as Sheriff and Probation if they arise during the life of the Employment List.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Perform specialized office support work which may require the knowledge of detailed or specialized activities related to the department to which assigned.
• Compiles and assemble information from a variety of sources for the completion of forms or the preparation of reports; make arithmetic or statistical calculations.
• Enter, edit and retrieve data and prepare periodic or special reports from an online or personal computer system following established formats and menus; may create report formats using programmed software to meet individual needs.
• Provide information to the public or to County staff that requires some interpretation of policies, rules and/or procedures.
• Maintain records and processes various forms, applications, permits, or other department or division specific documents; type correspondence, reports, forms, and specialized documents related to the functions of the department, division, or program, which assigned from drafts, notes or brief instructions, using a word processor; may compose standard correspondence from brief instructions.
• Proofread and check typed and other materials for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with departmental policies; and correct English language, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. Under general supervision performs technical level administrative, operational, procedural, and/or program related duties in assistance to a County department; researches, collects, and analyzes data and prepares draft reports; performs administrative and technical work of assigned program area; and provides responsible administrative and technical assistance to management; coordinates program activities, assisting with process improvement efforts, preparing a variety of correspondence and reports and performs other duties as assigned. This is the journey para-professional level in the administrative/analytical series.

Under direct supervision, the Police Academy Recruit attends a basic Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified training academy to obtain the basic skills and fitness level necessary for the performance of Police Officer duties.  This position requires a thorough background investigation, psychological assessment, and a medical exam prior to appointment. This is the non-sworn, entry-level classification in the Police Officer series. Incumbents in this classification receive training in a controlled classroom environment.  Advancement to the sworn Police Officer position is based on meeting minimum qualification standards and satisfactory performance in the academy.

The City of Marysville is seeking qualified candidates for the position of a Public Works Director; this recruitment will fill 1 vacancy and create an eligible list.  

Reporting directly to the City Manager, this position is responsible for executive direction, strategic leadership, and management of the Public Works Department, including City maintenance workers and capital improvement projects. 

As the principal administrator of the Public Works Department, the Director; plans, organizes, directs, reviews and manages all department activities and functions including Engineering, Parks and Recreation, Streets, Public Facilities, Wastewater Treatment/Sewage, and Storm Water Management.

Education and Certification

Licenses: Possess valid California Class C Driver’s License.

Experience

Incumbents must have a minimum of three (3) years of managerial experience directly involving municipal services such as public works, public utilities, capital improvement project management, parks maintenance and management, and/or street and facilities maintenance.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the positions of Assistant Engineer, Associate Engineer and Associate Civil Engineer for the Public Works Department in the Community Development and Services Agency. Currently, there are two vacancies that may be filled at either the Assistant Engineer, Associate Engineer, or Associate Civil Engineer level depending on qualifications. These classes are alternately staffed and incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience, required certifications and demonstrating proficiency which meet the qualifications and expectations for the higher level class. The incumbent to this position will perform engineering work, including preparing design plans, specifications and engineering estimates related to roads, bridges, culverts and other County infrastructure; project management; assist in developing and administering professional services or construction project contracts; review plans and inspect projects; collect and present data and prepare reports; provide information and advice to the public and perform related work as assigned. 

Assistant Engineer: is the entry level in the civil engineer series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents will provide assistance to management staff or higher level engineers in the areas of research, data collection, project administration, preparation of reports and preparation of engineering plans and specifications. Assignments are intended to provide background in the fundamental principles and practices of public service engineering.

Associate Engineer: is the journey level in the civil engineer series. Under general supervision, incumbents independently conduct design, research and construction project inspection and analyses for a variety of projects within the county. Responsibilities may also include providing work direction to technical support staff.

Associate Civil Engineer: is the advanced journey level in the civil engineering series. Under general direction, incumbents perform professional engineer work and prepare civil design plans for various Public Works projects; independently conduct engineering feasibility cost, research and design studies and construction project work; analyses for varied department and agency projects and functions; signing off designs and as-built changes related to roads, bridges, culverts and other County infrastructure and perform related duties as assigned.

Under limited supervision, the Senior Civil Engineer will perform the more difficult professional engineering work including the preparation of civil design plans for various Public Works projects, conducting research studies, performing field inspections and testing, analyzing reports, maps, drawings, or geological data, and procuring permits; act as a resource to staff, contracts, consultants, other agencies and the public regarding areas of assignment; provide lead direction and technical assistance to assigned staff and/or project management; and perform related work as assigned. Incumbents are fully qualified to perform all duties specified as a Professional Engineer by the State of California. This is the master level in the civil engineer series, and reports directly to Principal Engineer.

Examples of Duties:

• Review plans and inspect projects; provide engineering design and code information and ensure that designs meet accepted industry and legal standards, and projects are biddable and buildable.
• Interpret and explain complex and technical laws, codes and regulations and provide information related to Public Works Engineering activities; may receive and respond to complaints and recommend corrective action as necessary.
• Initiate and maintain professional relationships with other departments, businesses, local community and professional organizations.
• Provide direction as a lead worker; expected to review the work of professional civil engineers and support staff to ensure compliance with established procedures related to design, construction and inspection of flood control, storm water management, water resources, bridges, parks, roads and other related projects as well as provide input on assigned staff performance to management; provide guidance to professional and technical staff.
