The Judicial Council of California is accepting applications for the position of Associate Fiscal Analyst for the Budget Services office.   

The Associate Fiscal Analyst plays a key role in developing and implementing the annual budget for California’s 58 trial courts. Responsibilities include: (1) gathering, verifying, and compiling court data to support budget creation, (2) processing payments for trial court reimbursement programs, and (3) preparing monthly distribution templates in the FI$Cal system to allocate operational funding. Additionally, the position supports the Trial Court Budget Advisory Committee—an advisory group to the Judicial Council—by preparing meeting materials such as agendas, minutes, and meeting notes, and coordinating meetings with committee chairs. The position also handles inquiries and special assignments from the trial courts.

ABOUT THE AIR DISTRICT

The Bay Area Air District (Air District) created in 1955, is the state’s first regional agency to regulate air pollution. The Air District was created during this time, as the air in the Bay Area was often unhealthy to breathe due to burning, vehicle exhaust, and factories polluting the air.

The Air District is tasked with regulating stationary sources of air pollution in the nine counties that surround the San Francisco Bay: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, southwestern Solano, and southern Sonoma counties. It is governed by a 24-member Board of Directors composed of locally elected officials from each of the nine Bay Area counties, with the number of board members from each county being proportionate to its population.

The Board of Directors oversees policies, adopts regulations, and promotes and incentivizes clean air actions to reduce air pollution in communities within the Air District jurisdiction. The Board also appoints the Air District’s Executive Officer/Air Pollution Control Officer (EO/APCO), who implements these policies, gives direction to staff, and provides air quality thought leadership on a state, national and global scale. The Air District consists of 538 dedicated staff members, including engineers, inspectors, planners, scientists, and other professionals.

The Air District has a mission to improve air quality to protect public health, reduce historical and current environmental inequities, and mitigate climate change and its impact. However, new approaches are needed to reduce the disproportionate and cumulative environmental impacts that remain in overburdened communities.  The Air District oversees one of the most robust air monitoring networks in the nation with more than 30 air monitoring stations that measure air quality throughout the Bay Area and inform daily air quality forecasts. The Air District also ensures that businesses comply with some of the nation’s most stringent air pollution laws and regulations, provides incentives and grants to encourage clean air alternatives and actions, and prioritizes our work in communities on the frontlines of pollution exposure. On days where ozone or fine particulate pollution levels are high, the Air District issues “Spare the Air” alerts to warn the public of the potential health hazards. While the Air District has improved air quality over the past seven decades, there are still challenges today due to the growing population, traffic, catastrophic wildfires driven by climate change, and the legacy of concentrated burdens in underserved communities.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Air District is currently accepting applications for the position of Deputy Executive Officer of Information Management. There is one (1) vacant full-time position. This at-will position is appointed by the Executive Officer/Air Pollution Control Officer and serves a term of three (3) years which may be extended.  

Under direction of the Executive Officer/Air Pollution Control Officer, the Deputy Executive Officer of Information Management provides high-level technical, policy, and strategic direction in the management of the Air District's programs and activities.  The position oversees the modernization of the Air District’s technology infrastructure, improvement of core business processes, and coordination of strategic cross-functional projects. It oversees the following functions:
 

Enterprise Technology Solutions
Enterprise Technology Solutions identifies, develops, and implements both custom and off-the-shelf technologies that enhance the Air District’s core operations. Key examples include systems, which enable permitting, inspection, and enforcement processes for regulated facilities, grants management tools, the Air District’s financial system, and the technology powering the public-facing website. Enterprise Technology Solutions works closely with other service areas to streamline business processes, promote innovation, and ensure that technology solutions effectively meet staff and community needs.

Information Services
Information Services is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the Air District’s information technology infrastructure. This includes managing servers and networks, telecommunications, cybersecurity, business continuity, and disaster recovery systems. Information Services also provides user support to Air District staff and technical assistance to external stakeholders, ensuring seamless and secure access to online services. By focusing on resilience and continuous improvement, Information Services safeguards the Air District’s data and systems against evolving threats and disruptions and fosters effective implementation of initiatives to improve air quality, protect public health, and address environmental challenges in the Bay Area.

Strategic Innovation
The position will oversee additional projects that aim to modernize Air District operations and bring innovative solutions to advance the Air District’s mission. As an example, the 2024-2029 Strategic Plan guides the Air District’s work to address air quality issues more effectively, with a focus on communities most overburdened by air pollution. It also guides how to transform our organization to align more closely with our core values of environmental justice, equity, integrity, partnership, transparency, and trust. The Air District is beginning to implement the goals and priorities across the Air District and will be reporting the results. This position will facilitate Strategic Plan implementation through a systems approach to tracking, reporting, and transparency measures. The Superior Court of California, County of San Mateo seeks highly qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Court Executive Officer.

 

As a key member of the executive management team, the Deputy Court Executive Officer will provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Court Executive Officer/Clerk/Jury Commissioner.  The Deputy Court Executive (DCEO) will participate in strategic planning and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the operations, support, and administration divisions of the Court.  This will include directing all criminal, family law, civil, juvenile, small claims, traffic, and probate clerk office functions.

 

The DCEO will also oversee all staffing and personnel functions including recruitment, retention, training and development, and disciplinary action.  The DCEO will research and review new technology systems that could assist the Court in meeting workload requirements and will oversee the implementation of new systems and, when necessary, the modification of existing systems.  In addition, the DCEO will write, review, monitor, and manage contracts with vendors providing services and materials.

 

Significant to the role, the DCEO will analyze new legislation and the legislation’s impact on the Court, will communicate with the executive team about new legislative or statutory requirements needed to successfully operate the court, and will establish procedures to conform to new laws.

 

In addition to internal operations, the DCEO will serve as liaison with the court, County departments, agencies, and the public, and will work with other criminal justice agencies to implement new or mandated programs.

Examples of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide highly responsible administrative and management assistance to the Court Executive Officer/Clerk and Jury Commissioner in planning, organizing, directing, and reviewing the functions and activities of the operations and/or support divisions of the Court.
• Provide strong leadership as part of the Court’s Executive Team, which also consists of the CEO, Information Technology Director, Human Resources Director, Senior Managing Attorney, and Finance Director.
• Direct, supervise, and guide Court managers and supervisors or staff of a major division by establishing goals, policies, and performance standards, conducting periodic evaluations for the staff members' performance, and counseling staff members regarding their performance and career development consistent with the departmental mission and expectations.
• Work with judges, attorneys, internal staff, and external departments to define and coordinate a variety of activities such as forecasting trial court needs, arranging for jurors, and assigning visiting judges.
• Consult with and advise other County staff and the public regarding Court policy issues and participate in the development of standards and programs relating to these policies.
• Consult and cooperate with other agencies and departments on all aspects of the Court’s operations, discuss problems and develop alternatives and strategies for dealing with those problems, and assist in implementation of solutions.
• Develop effective statistical and recordkeeping systems, analyze new laws and requirements that may impact these systems, and revise systems as needed.
• Direct and counsel managers, supervisors or staff in planning, resource allocation, personnel actions, budgeting, and record systems needed to meet the Court’s responsibilities.
• Assist in the preparation and administration of the Court budget.
• Perform a variety of special assignments and prepare complex analytical and statistical reports in all areas of Court management, as assigned.
• Perform any additional court administration or operations-related duties and tasks as assigned by the Court Executive Officer.

 

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

• Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in judicial, public, or business administration or a closely related field, or a graduate degree in these same fields; however, additional qualifying experience as described below and relevant course work outside of degree programs may substitute for the required education on a year-to-year basis.
• Experience: Seven years of increasingly responsible experience performing a wide variety of duties related to management in, preferably but not limited to, a court setting including at least one full year of progressively responsible experience in a senior level administrative, executive, or management position.

 

Knowledge of:

• All aspects of Court Administration including appropriate methods, procedures, and technical expertise.
• Pertinent state and federal laws and regulations regarding Court management.
• Organizational, administrative, and management principles and practices.
• Conflict resolution, training and development, and mentoring for management team direct reports as well as organizational development.
• Supervisory techniques, resource allocation, planning and budgeting.
• Budget principles and procedures.
• Change management and implementation of process refinement, improvement, and documentation.
• Statistical analysis and presentation of data-driven decision making.
• Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment.

 

Skill/Ability to:

• Direct and coordinate all aspects of the Court’s administration.
• Provide mentoring and development plans of action for the management and supervisor team members in court administration.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate the work of professional, technical, and clerical staff.

• Interpret, apply, and explain Court policies and state and federal legislation related to divisional operations.

Under general supervision, the Lifeguard/Swim Instructor I/II performs routine public contact and safety work in serving as a pool lifeguard. They also provide essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program support, and minor maintenance duties relating to aquatics. This temporary, parttime position requires working up to 20 hours per week. The role involves ensuring the health and safety of aquatic patrons, facilities are clean, safe, and operational while delivering excellent customer service. Performs other duties as assigned.   

 

UNIVERSAL POSITION DUTIES (Applicable to all roles; Illustrative Purposes Only)  

Monitor the swimming pool and enforce safety regulations.  

Assist with aquatics programs, special events, and facility upkeep.

Fitness Instructors/Personal Trainers play a key role in supporting clients’ health and fitness goals by:

• Leading group strength and conditioning classes and personal training sessions.
• Designing safe and effective individualized fitness programs.
• Monitoring client progress, ensuring proper form, and providing feedback.
• Creating a motivating, positive environment for participants.
• Delivering excellent customer service and addressing fitness-related inquiries.
• Ensuring the fitness facility is safe, clean, and fully operational.

 

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
• Current certification in personal training or group fitness instruction (e.g., ACE, NASM, or other recognized certification).
• At least one year of experience in fitness instruction, personal training, or related field preferred.
• Experience in strength and conditioning, group instruction, and one-on-one training is highly desirable.

 

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of strength and conditioning techniques, fitness principles, and wellness practices.
• Ability to motivate and instruct individuals and groups effectively.
• Strong communication skills for clear instruction and positive feedback.
• Skill in assessing client needs and designing individualized programs.
• Ability to safely operate and maintain fitness equipment.

 

Special Requirements: 

• Current certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). 

• Fitness certifications (e.g., Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor) from a nationally recognized organization.

The Department

The South San Francisco Public Works Department is comprised of its three main divisions - Engineering, Maintenance & Operations, and the Water Quality Control Plant. Together, these divisions ensure that South San Francisco's infrastructure and public services are efficiently managed and maintained, contributing to the overall quality of life in the community.

Located adjacent to San Francisco Bay on Colma Creek, the Water Quality Control Plant (WQCP) provides secondary wastewater treatment for the cities of South San Francisco, San Bruno, and Colma. It also provides the dechlorination treatment of chlorinated effluent for the cities of Burlingame, Millbrae, and the San Francisco International Airport prior to discharging the treated wastewater into San Francisco Bay. The average dry weather flow through the facility is 9 million gallons per day (MGD). Peak wet weather flows can exceed 60 MGD.
