DEPARTMENT:

The Library department is comprised of three service areas: The Main Library, Grand Avenue Branch, and Literacy Services at Project Read and Community Learning Center. POSITION:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of clerical, technical, and paraprofessional duties in acquisitions, cataloging, classification, circulation, patron services, reference, and literacy services; assignments may entail substantial amounts of data entry and retrieval, technical assistance to patrons with printing, use of the public computers and MakerSpace equipment; incumbents may direct the work of part-time and volunteer staff; leading and supporting programs.

TYPICAL DUTIES: (may include but are not limited to the following):

• Performs a variety of service desk functions, including patron account management, checking in/out materials, assisting with self-check equipment, processing payments and reserves, and responding to patron inquiries.
• Assists patrons in locating and using library materials and equipment; explains library services, policies, and procedures; answers basic reference questions using online catalogs, indexes, and other bibliographic tools.
• Orders, receives, and processes library materials in all formats; maintains accurate acquisition and inventory records.
• Develops, presents, and/or supports library programs, community outreach activities, and informational displays.
• Performs general clerical tasks such as monitoring supplies, processing mail, handling payments, maintaining records, and managing files.
• Opens and/or closes the library facility following established procedures.
• May train, schedule, and oversee the work of part-time and volunteer staff.
• Supports the delivery of educational programs for adults and/or children, including tutoring, homework help, story time, and instructional programming.
• Assists in conducting assessments to track participant progress and program effectiveness.
• Acts as a liaison with program participants, community groups, and educational agencies to support service coordination.
• Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: One year of clerical or paraprofessional experience, preferably in a library, literacy, or educational setting.

Training: Equivalent to graduation from high school.

Position Summary

Under general direction of the Director of Transportation for the Bus Transit division, contributes to the mission of Golden Gate Transit by ensuring that Golden Gate Transit has the best possible trained Bus Operators. Instruct Bus Operators for safe operations of vehicles, uniform compliance, and enforcement of District rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Document Bus Operator Students’ performance. Must be willing to work shift assignments from Santa Rosa, Novato, San Rafael, or San Francisco Division locations. May be assigned to perform other duties.
 

Essential Responsibilities

• Conducts training class for newly hired bus operators, including obstacle course, classroom and “over the road” instruction by delivering standardized curriculum.
• Develops classroom curriculum, including itinerary, lesson plans, training and testing materials and implement training for newly hired and existing bus operators.
• Acts as designated D.M.V. examiner in the testing and certification of bus operators; or coordinates with D.M.V. to get student operators V.T.T. cards and license conversations.
• Maintains complete and accurate documentation on every facet of training and testing for each student as required and mandated by state and federal governments.
• Performs individual evaluations of student operators progress in the training program.
• Conducts ongoing Verification of Transit Training Classes for existing bus operators and other commercially licensed employees who need to maintain a V.T.T.
• Supervises Bus Operators fitness -for -duty as they report to work, including observing for divergencies from normal behavior patterns, uniform appearance, grooming and possessions of driving credentials and medical card.

• Works with the Director of Training and Safety on compliance with D.O.E., D.O.T., and D.M.V. training and documentation requirements
• Develops and implement minimum standards for bus operator trainees.
• Monitors progress of trainees and provide periodic counseling and progress evaluation.
• Conducts refresher training for bus operators returning to work after extended absence.
• Testifies on training or related fields at bus operator hearings, arbitrations, or trials.

• Re-trains bus operators as directed by disciplinary hearings on accidents or rule violations.
• Evaluates new equipment and changes in existing equipment and prepare data to be used as instruction criteria. (This material is distributed to bus operators when training on this equipment) outlines and checklists.

• Compiles and maintain "Training Subjects Manuals."
• Obtains and maintain appropriate certifications.
• Works with appropriate staff in the recruiting and selection process for bus operators.
• Works with passenger relations and planning department to provide ADA training for persons with disabilities.
• Represents GGT as necessary and assist in the structure and the presentation of the annual Regional Bus Roadeo.
• Instructs and monitor operation of G.F.I farebox and radio systems.
• Observes and monitor safe operation of vehicles by riding with operators, contact and correct operators on safety procedures.
• Issues infractions and/or discipline for violations of safety policy and procedures.
• Ensures employees under their supervision follow established safe work practices and obey all safety rules.
• Performs driver safety observations by riding on board buses or observing from a moving vehicle or fixed location and provide written reports on these observations; and issues discipline for safety violations observed.
• Knows and follows the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to his or her job.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors, and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.

DEFINITION 

As a Building Attendant, you will be responsible for the daily upkeep and maintenance of the Burlingame Community Center, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all occupants. Hours: (Average 10-20 hours per week). 

Shifts include:
Monday-Friday: 7:30am-12:30pm
Monday-Friday: 2:30pm-9:15pm

As needed: Private rentals as late as 2:00am

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  (include but are not limited to the following)
Opens and closes the building, provides excellent customer service, and maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Performs regular cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning windows and mirrors, restocking and sanitizing restrooms, emptying trash and recycling, and wiping down surfaces. Assists with event and class setup and takedown of tables, chairs, and equipment, operates audiovisual equipment, and ensures renters follow facility policies, completing final walk-through reports as needed. Staffs the front desk to greet visitors, answer questions, answer phones, take messages, and process registrations and sales.

• Supports library staff with leading programs.
• Performs other related duties as required.

The Position:
This is complex lead level work involved in a central purchasing department related to the procurement of goods and services, including preparation of formal bid documents, facilitation of the activities of the bid process, selection of vendors, volume buying, inventory, assessing availability and quality of goods and services, and routine to complex procurements for the entire District according to prescribed methods. Public contact is extensive, primarily involving District and college staff at all levels, outside vendors, contractors, outside business representatives, other educational institutions, and external auditors for the purpose of exchanging product, procedural, timeline, and workflow information. A high degree of independent judgment and creativity are required to interpret policies and procedures, and to provide input into the resolution of frequent minor and occasional major problems that occur. Consequences of errors in judgment can be costly in terms of District resources, employee time and in public relations; however, supervisory controls limit the risk of serious errors. The Senior Buyer leads and trains student assistants as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties below are representative of the duties of the classification and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed by the incumbent(s) of any particular position. 1. Exchanges professional information with District and college staff, vendors, contractors, business representatives, as well as educational and government institutions regarding purchasing policies and procedures, assistance with vendor selections, pricing, shipping, returns, invoicing, bid timelines and item specifications
2. Develops and confirms product specifications and quality expectations and examines total cost of ownership
3. Develops and prepares bid specifications and RFP, RFQ, and RFB documents, analyzes bid results, and prepares reports related to the formal bidding process
4. Attends professional development related meetings, workshops and other events to stay current on public procurement code and District policies and procedures. Occasional mandatory participation in select professional development conferences requiring travel outside the Bay Area. Willingness to pursue professional certifications in the procurement field
5. Attends and conducts meetings and consults with College and District staff, vendors, and others to provide information about the bidding process, development of bid procedures, clarification of product specifications, finalization of contractual agreements, and collaboration on the resolution of problems
6. Administers and oversees administration of the procurement card program, including issuance and cancellation of cards and communications with cardholders and the bank
7. Administers and oversees administration of other District-wide procurement tools, such as reverse auctions, gas cards, or contract management software
8. Participates in and/or provides direction to staff on purchasing transactions requiring specialized technical knowledge or understating of specific commodities, materials, supplies, manufacturers, and District services
9. Analyzes and maintains inventory records and performs fiscal year close activities related to fixed assets and communicates with District external auditors on the fixed asset program
10. Administers surplus and records retention activities throughout the District, arranges for document shredding, and manages disposition of surplus through auctions and private sales
11. Reviews and issues purchase orders for complex procurements and cooperative purchasing agreements and audits and approves routine purchase orders prepared by staff
12. Uses a variety of computer software to research, enter, format, modify, and retrieve data for special and regular reports, documentation, vendor files, trend analysis and presentations, and to perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling meetings and arranging meeting logistics
13. Composes and prepares correspondence and announcements to District staff
14. Analyzes data and systems available to retrieve desired information
15. Maintains online purchasing resource pages, such as forms, purchasing policies, contracts library, training materials library, and other web-based resources
16. Develops training materials on purchasing procedures and delivers one-on-one or group training to District-wide staff
17. Participates in District-wide finance user groups, safety committee, and emergency operations committee
18. Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a closely related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Successful work experience of increasing responsibility in purchasing and volume buying, specification development, securing and evaluation of bids, commodity pricing methods, discounts and selection of various supply sources
• Possession of working knowledge of bidding, public contract code, and purchasing policies and procedures
• Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated skill in giving clear and concise instructions
• Demonstrated advanced skills in composing business correspondence and other documents using Microsoft Office Suite software
• Demonstrated skill in training, leading, and coordinating the work of others

Physical Requirements:
This classification requires oral and written communication, ability to analyze data, logical and sequential thinking, good memory, tact, patience, creativity and the ability to work closely in team settings with others, possession of a valid California Driver’s License and the ability to drive a motor vehicle to off-site locations in order to perform the essential functions, flexibility and adaptability to change, use of keyboard for extended periods of time, pushing, pulling, reaching, and moving objects of moderate weight.
