Example of Duties: (Illustrative Only)

• Receives mail and direct payments from the public and funds from other City departments; balances monies received and prepares receipts and bank deposits.
• Processes accounts payable; assigns purchase order and vendor numbers; reviews invoices and receiving reports for accuracy and appropriate authorization; ensures that funds are budgeted and available and prepares documentation required for payment; enters data into the accounts payable system to produce payment.
• Reviews payroll records for completeness and accuracy; resolves problems and enters data into the payroll system to produce the City’s payroll.
• Provides information to business owners regarding business license requirements and fees; processes license applications and renewals; receives and receipts payments and prepares license certificates; maintains utility billing ledgers; inputs meter readings into the system and produces billing statements.
• Posts receipts, encumbrances, and expenditures to various accounts; reconciles accounts and prepares general ledger entries.
• Prepares and distributes billings for money owed to the City for fees and services.
• Answers questions, provides information regarding procedures and regulations and assists the public at a counter and over the telephone.
• Prepares and distributes payroll tax forms and 1099’s on an annual basis.
• Records and verifies a variety of financial transactions; prepares and maintains records and a variety of periodic and special financial, accounting, and statistical reports.
• Enters and retrieves information using standard word processing and spreadsheet software.
• Performs general office support duties such as opening and routing mail, preparing correspondence, maintaining an inventory of office supplies and stationery, and duplicating and distributing various written materials.

 

The County of San Mateo Procurement Division is seeking an experienced procurement professional for the position of Contract Administrator II (CA II). This position will provide procurement advice and assistance to departmental procurement staff throughout the County. The Procurement Division supports 23 departments within the County.

As of April 2024, procurement within the County is handled through OpenGov Procurement (OpenGov) software. Experience with OpenGov is desired but not required. OpenGov training will be provided to the CA II staff member.

Under supervision, the CA II will:

• Advise staff on solicitation development and contract management policies and processes.
• Assist staff with questions related to navigating OpenGov.
• Work on procurement projects.
• Participate in the development of procurement policy and training.
• Deliver procurement training to staff.
• Complete other procurement related work on an as-needed basis.

CA II is the fully experienced, journey level class in this series, capable of independently performing the full range of procurement work. The CA II should be knowledgeable regarding solicitation creation for professional services and contract administration duties.  The selected candidate will use their experience to advise staff on how to navigate and improve their procurement processes.  The CA II will be given substantial latitude in determining approach, procedures, systems, and methods in accomplishing the work goals.  The CA II will make basic programmatic decisions that require the exercise of independent judgment will be responsible for coordinating multiple functions or processes. An Incumbent at this level is typically assigned the more complex contracts.

The CA II staff member will have strong communication skills and professional conduct. They will be expected to provide excellent customer service while explaining procurement to county-wide staff. They will be comfortable creating and delivering trainings to staff on procurement topics.

Confidence in learning new technology will be important to this role. The CA II will be expected to become an advanced user of OpenGov and assist staff with navigating the software.

 

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: 

• Provide procurement technical assistance and consultation to County departments.
• Review and understand the existing procurement resources (handbook and instruction materials and videos) and connect staff with the appropriate resources for their questions.
• Analyze complicated procurement situations and create solutions.
• Suggest process and policy training improvements.
• Create instructions and training to document existing and new procurement processes and policies.
• Review, authorize, and/or manage procurement documents.
• Create and deliver procurement training.
• Maintain current knowledge of contract rules and regulations.
• Develop request for proposals and contract agreements.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is:

• Four years of experience as a public procurement professional working with a wide variety of solicitations, contracts, and procurement methodologies. 

Education may be used to substitute for years of experience.  Because procurement within the County is handled through OpenGov Procurement software, experience with OpenGov is desired but not required. Training will be provided to the CA II as needed.

The City of Colfax is currently accepting applications for Maintenance Worker I. This is an entry level position in the Public Works department requiring a minimum of 1 year of experience in a semi-skilled maintenance occupation. Typical duties include: landscape maintenance, electrical and plumbing repairs, minor construction and light carpentry projects, cleaning public restrooms, keeping public streets and parks clean and in good repair. The employee will check storm drains, culverts and ditches; operate tools and equipment to patch and repair pavement, construct and maintain gutters, sidewalks and other incidental improvements. The ability to operate power tools and work safely, wearing appropriate PPE. Occasional maintenance will be required for the wastewater treatment plant and collection systems. The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the administration of the Yuba County Jail and Jail staff. The Mission of the Yuba County Jail is to provide safe, efficient, humane and secure custody of all persons incarcerated. The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. The jail provides a necessary link in the criminal justice system. There are numerous programs operating within the facility including medical, kitchen, exercise, commissary, visiting, law library, inmate education, work programs, work furlough program, and inmate classification.

THE POSITION:

The City of Hayward is seeking a strategic and collaborative Director of Finance to oversee its centralized financial operations. Reporting directly to the City Manager, this executive role provides leadership in accounting, budgeting, treasury, revenue collection, licensing, purchasing, and data systems. The Director serves as the City's Chief Financial Officer, managing the preparation and oversight of the annual operating and capital improvement budgets, ensuring audit compliance, and maintaining strong internal controls. Additionally, the role advises the City Manager and Council on fiscal matters, promotes transparency and efficiency, and leads a dedicated team committed to service excellence and innovation. The Director also acts as Treasurer-Controller for the East Bay Dischargers Authority and supports programs such as the Rent Review Board. 

The County of Yuba is recruiting for both Extra-Help and Full-Time Juvenile Corrections Officers I/II, in an effort to fill current vacancies and expand staffing levels. These positions are located on the Tri-County Youth Rehabilitation Campus which falls under the Juvenile Institutions Division of the Yuba County Probation Department.  The primary responsibilities of this flexibly staffed position are to: provide care, custody, supervision, and control of youth housed in the secured detention facilities while they are pending legal action or serving a post adjudication commitment; ensure and sustain a safe and secure environment for youth; and coordinate counseling and behavior modification activities associated with the operation of the facilities.

About Detention Services & Yuba County:

Our Department believes people can change and we can be instrumental in supporting that change.  We are  a small workplace family that supports one another to accomplish our mission and allow our team members to live full lives outside the workplace. Our Campus provides youth detention services to the communities of Yuba, Sutter, and Colusa Counties as well as several contract counties through our Camp Singer program.  We operate 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, and includes the Tri-County Juvenile Hall, Secure Housing Unit, and Maxine Singer Youth Guidance Center (Camp Singer), under a Joint Powers Agreement between the three counties. Our Department is the administrative agency responsible for the management and daily operation of the facility. The shared goal of facility staff is to provide youth with support and tools that will assist them with successfully reintegrating back into the community.  Staff are provided with state mandated relevant training, which includes youth trauma; crisis management; cultural competence; mental health awareness; sexual abuse and harassment; and proper use of force.

The Land Stewardship & Trails Department is Midpen’s largest, with over 70 employees during construction season. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members who may be geographically dispersed. The Area Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative operations of their assigned field office and has supervisory responsibility over one administrative assistant and supervisory level staff.  Each geographical area consists of up to 18 full-time staff members as well as seasonal staff. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished professional with a highly collaborative management style, strong emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills. Key responsibilities include:

• Assumes management responsibility for all maintenance and operations functions and activities of the field office, including maintenance of preserves, public access, facilities, vehicles, and resource management.
• Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the Department; participants in long term and short-term project planning; recommends within departmental policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; recommends and administers policies and procedures.
• Participates in the development and administration of and oversees Area budgets.

• Coordinates with fire agencies on fire risk prevention activities.

Work Environment: This position reports to the Land Stewardship & Trails Manager and will be assigned to a field office. The Area Manager works in an office setting primarily, and will attend various meetings and visit District field sites, which may require hiking through steep terrain and wildland areas and driving in remote areas on dirt roads.  Employee may be exposed to blood and body fluids when rendering First Aid and CPR. Licenses & Certifications Required:    

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License;
• Possession of, or the ability to obtain, Basic First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid First Responder or equivalent certificate
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, the level of certification in the Incident Command System Courses as specified under the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a District approved Fire Suppression Training certification.
