This is for individuals that have no prior law enforcement experience and have not received POST certified police academy training. Trainees are paid while attending a POST-certified Police Academy. Swim Instructors instruct organized aquatic safety and swim classes with the safety standards and procedures set by the American Red Cross. Swim Instructors may also serve as Lifeguards (if certified), whose duties include patrolling and watching the activities in and around the community swimming pool, enforcing regulations to prevent accidents, and rescuing swimmers in distress.

This safety position will respond to fire alarms, emergency medical calls, traffic accidents, rescue and other emergency calls to protect life and property. This position will also participate in trainings, drills, study activities and in the maintenance of the department apparatus, equipment and facilities. Under the supervision of the Fire Engineer or Fire Captain, provides first responder medical emergency at the basic life support level. Performs other duties as required.
