The City of Orinda Parks and Recreation Department seeks a qualified, experienced and trustworthy individual with a passion to work with youth as a summer Camp Director / Recreation Program Specialist in the Parks and Recreation Department.   This position takes direction from and reports to the City's full-time Recreation Coordinator.

Interviews for the Camp Director position will be scheduled with the best-qualified candidates on a first come, first serve basis.  Please apply early for consideration.

MANDATORY TRAINING:  Must be available for paid training on Saturday, May 30, 2026.  Additional training will occur in the mornings during the week of June 1 - June 5, 2026.

SUMMER CAMP SEASON:  Must be available for summer camp season June 1 - August 7, 2026.

WORK HOURS:  Work hours vary depending on the number of staff and youth participants.  Approximate work hours are Monday through Friday 8:15 am to 5:15 pm.

Incumbents of the position will provide their own transportation to program site(s). 

Supervision:

Under the general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, the Camp Director assists the Recreation Coordinator in the administration of summer camp staffing, programming, training and camper/family relations.  The Camp Director is responsible for overseeing the camp coordinators and camp counselors, and the Director is the on-site camp liaison for families. 

This position is a 40 hour per week Monday through Friday seasonal position during summer.  In addition to staff recruitment and selection and summer program planning hours prior to camp start dates, there is also an opportunity to continue employment on a part-time basis with the Parks and Recreation Department during the school year to assist in the planning and implementation of Orinda Youth Sports (OYS), adult sports, and the Orinda Teen Advisory Council (OTAC).

Essential Duties:

• Collaborate with Recreation Coordinator to develop, coordinate and facilitate summer camp programs and activities.
• Oversee camp staff, and promote a safe, supportive and engaging environment for all staff.
• Assist Recreation Coordinator in staff hiring and training and with staff scheduling and evaluation.
• Lead weekly debriefs involving city-run summer camps with Camp Coordinators.
• Direct Counselor-in-Training camp during last one week of summer.
• Utilize strong communication and decision-making skills to handle crisis management, discipline, or troubleshooting issues related to campers, families or staff.
• Maintain fiscal records and work within budget to order and maintain camp supplies and resources.
• Act as liaison between families, campers, staff, and Parks and Recreation Department.
• Ensure the health and safety of all campers and staff are prioritized in all summer camp programs.
• Support Recreation Coordinator with ePACT management and administration.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Must have completed at least eleventh (11) grade by the start of camp and be seventeen (17) years of age or older by the start of camp.  College-level coursework in Recreation, Sports, Administration, Human Development, Education or related field is preferred.  

Experience: Recreation, athletics and/or education experience is desirable.  Experience teaching and/or working with children and youth age twelve (12) and under is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED training and/or certification are required prior to the first day of camp.  There will be a CPR, First Aid and AED training on the May 30, 2026 training for any staff who are not certified.

Special Requirements:   This is a mandated reporter position.  Appointment to this position is contingent upon:

• A pre-employment live scan criminal history check (if over 18 years of age), drug screen, physical and TB Test required.  Please note that if under 18 some processes may require legal guardian consent.

Under general supervision, the Swim Instructor’s Aide assists in teaching swim lessons to persons of all ages. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. Mandatory pre-season in-service training sessions will be held in June.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists in developing lesson plans for aquatic activities and helps maintain pool records, including program registrations and safety reports. Provides First Aid and CPR when necessary and aids in teaching swimming lessons to participants of all ages. Follows city policies and procedures and performs other assigned duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Age Requirement:                                         

• At least 14 years of age

Experience:

• No prior experience necessary.
• Recommended exposure to swimming lessons instruction or working with young people in an organized environment and/or participation in the Junior Lifeguard program.

Knowledge of:           

• The City of Woodland’s Swim Lesson Program and basic pool policies and procedures.

Ability to:

• Communicate clearly, both in oral written forms.
• Collaborate well with colleagues and others encountered during work.
• Swim proficiently and showcase various swimming techniques. 

Certifications:

• Standard First Aid, CPR in adult, child, and infant (or equivalent)
• American Red Cross Water Safety Aide is recommended.
• Exposure to American Red Cross Lifeguard Training is desirable.

SALARY SCHEDULE

$16.90-$17.90 per hour, based on experience and years of service.

The City of Patterson is seeking to fill several part-time Recreation Leader positions in the Recreation Department for their Summer program.  Duties include, but are not limited to: officiate youth sports, score keep, and field preparation; interact with coaches, parents, and children ages 5-18; organize and teach participants special interest classes such as dance, music, arts & crafts, etc. and with assistance coordinate, schedule, and plan the programs; ensures participant safety and well being during all activities; ensures the proper handling of first aid and emergency situations.

The City of Patterson is currently recruiting to one (1) part-time position for Pool Manager with the Recreation & Community Services Department for their Summer program and to establish an Eligibility List. Under the supervision of the Recreation and Community Services Director and the Recreation Coordinator, the Pool Manager will be responsible for the operations of the pool. The Pool Manager will be expected to schedule Lifeguards to work as well as oversee the Lifeguards. The Pool Managers are to teach Lifeguards the pool policies and to assist any Lifeguard in decisions made at the pool. The Pool Manager must also be able to resolve confrontations from citizens if not to direct them to the next person in the chain of command. Performs other duties as assigned.

This position is established for 28 hours a week, but will vary depending on programming needs, and will be working weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

DEFINITION:

The City of Union City’s Community and Recreation Services Department is seeking passionate, motivated, and certified fitness professionals to join the Mark Green Sports Center (MGSC) team as Group Exercise Instructors and/or Personal Trainers. This position supports the City’s mission to promote health, wellness, and community engagement through high-quality fitness programs. Trainers and instructors work in a supportive, community-based environment — with no commission-based quotas or sales pressure. Instead, our Fitness Coordinator assists in client promotion, class opportunities, and professional growth through internal referrals and member engagement. Group Exercise Instructors may join our substitute roster and may be assigned to teach classes aligned with their certification and experience as openings arise.

• Bring energy and enthusiasm to the camp environment every day.
• Safely and appropriately supervise campers at all times.
• Plan and lead arts, crafts, games and sports according to the theme of the week.
• Serve as a mentor and role model to campers by modeling positive behavior at all times.
• Use positive discipline with campers and communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
• Effectively collaborate with fellow camp staffers and Parks and Recreation Department staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
