THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Public Works and Utilities is comprised of six divisions that work collaboratively to develop, build, operate, and maintain Hayward's infrastructure. The Department is responsible for providing engineering and transportation support to City operating departments and divisions and for implementation of the City's Capital Improvement Program, all while providing excellent customer service to the community.
- Receives emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, private companies and other jurisdictions.
- Dispatches police and fire personnel or other City services in response to such calls.
- Relays emergency and non-emergency information to public safety personnel in the field.
- Relays information to other agencies as required.
- Monitors multiple frequencies.
- Maintains accurate record of location and status of public safety units.
- Operates a manual dispatch system when necessary.

DEFINITION
Under the direction of the Transit Manager, the Transit Analyst II is responsible for carrying out a variety of analytical and technical assignments; and working on administrative and operational activities, analysis and special projects in support of Union City’s transit programs and services.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
The City of Hayward is accepting applications for Police Officer--Lateral. Police Officers at the City of Hayward perform a wide variety of law enforcement assignments including but not limited to patrol, traffic control, criminal and juvenile investigation, and radio communication. These require operating a patrol car or motorcycle, arresting and citing violators of laws, writing reports, serving warrants, testifying in court and providing information to the public.

Under general direction, manages and directs the Accounting Division of the Finance Department, including the budget development process and preparation of the budget book; budget monitoring, analysis and reporting; short- and long-range fiscal forecasting; ensuring adherence to financial policies and procedures; and capital planning. The Accounting Manager trains and evaluates assigned staff.
CLASS CHARACTERISITICS:
This is a seasonal, part-time position for the Parks & Grounds division.
Under the general supervision of a Public Works Streets Supervisor or Parks & Grounds Supervisor, and direction of a Maintenance II lead, incumbents in this classification assist with the cleanup and maintenance of City parks, streets, and satellite facilities including buildings, equipment, bus stops, parking lots, trails, flora and landscapes; and perform related work as required.
