Starting Pay: $53,545/year ($25.74/hour) 

Promotion to Police Dispatcher: $60,507/year ($29.09/hour)

Work-Life Balance

• 10-hour shifts (4 days a week)

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:  Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in communications or a related field is desirable. 

Experience: Some emergency or non-emergency dispatch experience is desirable. 

License/Certificates: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Terminal Operator Certificate within one year of employment. 

Special Requirements: 

• Must be 18 years of age as of the date of hire
• United States citizen or meet citizenship requirements
• High School Diploma or GED
• Good moral character with no felony convictions

The Public Works Department is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Street Maintenance Worker I/II for the Street division. Depending on the candidate's qualifications, the vacancy will be filled at either Street Maintenance Worker Level 1 or Level 2. Primary responsibilities:

If an academy is required, the candidate will be hired as a Police Officer Trainee. Upon completion of the academy, promotion will be made to Police Officer.

Selection Process:

All qualified applicants will be invited to appear before an Oral Appraisal Board. Applicants passing the Oral Board examination will be placed on the eligibility list based on their Oral Appraisal Board rankings. Prospective employees will be required to pass a physical agility examination and undergo a thorough background investigation including a medical, psychological, polygraph and drug/alcohol screening.

The Police Officer Trainee position is the entry-level role for those who have not yet attended the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified academy.

Starting salary for trainees is $30.68 per hour while attending the academy, plus excellent benefits.

DESCRIPTION 

The City of Thousand Oaks Community Development Department currently has two vacancies for an Assistant and Associate Planner. Under general supervision, these positions perform varied and responsible professional planning work; administer and perform work on relatively complex current and advance planning projects; and perform related duties as assigned.   

These vacancies will be filled as an Assistant Planner ($81,085 - $121,628 annually) and Associate Planner ($96,549 - $144,825 annually). 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Assistant Planner:  

• Manage and process applications for development projects, including residential, mixed-use, commercial, industrial, and institutional proposals  

• Facilitate in-person and virtual permit submittals 

• Respond to phone and email inquiries  

• Consult and advise property owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and the public regarding applications, City policies, codes, and other plans.   

• Prepare clear and concise technical documents, reports, correspondence and other written materials.

Associate Planner:

We are seeking a hands-on, mechanics and electronics savvy Instrumentation Technician to join our Public Works Sanitation division. This position maintains, repairs, inspects, plans, modifies, designs, installs and calibrates instrumentation, electrical, and SCADA control systems for wastewater treatment facilities; maintains a spare parts inventory; and trains operations staff in the understanding of instrumentation and control systems related to the process operation.

• Full-time regular position, 9/80 schedule with every other Monday or Friday off.
• Salary range $35.80 to $45.70 hourly with Excellent Benefits.
