The City of Patterson is seeking to fill several part-time Cashier positions in the Recreation Department for their Summer program and to establish and eligibility list.  Duties include, but are not limited to: under direct supervision, responsible for collecting concession fees, and admissions. Responsible for the financial integrity of all funds collected and is responsible for tallying and reconciling funds received at the end of the shift. The City of Patterson is currently recruiting to one (1) part-time position for Pool Manager with the Recreation & Community Services Department for their Summer program and to establish an Eligibility List. Under the supervision of the Recreation and Community Services Director and the Recreation Coordinator, the Pool Manager will be responsible for the operations of the pool. The Pool Manager will be expected to schedule Lifeguards to work as well as oversee the Lifeguards. The Pool Managers are to teach Lifeguards the pool policies and to assist any Lifeguard in decisions made at the pool. The Pool Manager must also be able to resolve confrontations from citizens if not to direct them to the next person in the chain of command. Performs other duties as assigned.

This position is established for 28 hours a week, but will vary depending on programming needs, and will be working weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The City of Patterson is currently recruiting to fill several part-time vacancies for Lifeguard with the Recreation & Community Services Department for their Summer program and to establish an Eligibility List.

Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and the Pool Managers, the Lifeguard will be responsible for the safety of the patrons at the Patterson Aquatics Center.  The Lifeguard must remain alert and knowledgeable as well as physically fit.  Duties include, but are not limited to: maintain the office, answer phones, maintain correspondence with the public and respond to all inquiries, be generally available to answer and refer patrons to resources within the community; teach swim lessons; enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations; recognize and respond effectively in emergencies; complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor.  All Lifeguards are responsible for keeping the facilities clean and safe for all patrons.

This position is established for 19 hours a week, but will vary depending on programming needs, and will be working weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Summary Description

Under immediate supervision performs semi-skilled to skilled maintenance, repair, and construction work assigned to the streets division; operates maintenance and construction tools and equipment; performs a variety of maintenance tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This is the entry level class in the Street Maintenance Operator series. This class is distinguished from the Street Maintenance Operator II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to workers in this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters related to established procedures and guidelines as are positions allocated to the II level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or non directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.

Representative Duties

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

1. Handle complaints and answer questions from the public.
2. Remove blight and illegal dumps from city property such as parks, right of ways, roadways, alleys, walkways, sidewalks and refuse disposal. 
3. Remove debris, shrubbery, brush, trash, tires, appliances, electronics, and miscellaneous items.
4. Make minor adjustments on service equipment; maintain tools and equipment in working order.
5. Abates graffiti.
6. Maintain logs of daily activities.
7. Assist in other areas as needed.
8. Perform related duties as required.
9. Repair and replace street surfaces, sidewalks, curbs, and gutters including back filling trenches and evacuations.
10. Perform the maintenance, repair, construction, and installation work of streets, storm drain, parking lots, street lights, traffic striping, and traffic control signs and signals.
11. Remove hazards from the roadway and other public rights of way.
12. Operate a variety of motorized equipment and specialized maintenance equipment.
13. Perform repaving, patching, overlaying, chuck hole, and crack sealing repair of asphalt.
14. Perform underground service alert locating, marking and notification.
15. Lay out and install traffic signs and pavement markings.
16. Repair and maintain storm drain lift stations.
17. Conduct traffic count surveys.
18. Maintain storm detention ponds, including cleaning, repairing, and spraying weeds.
19. Respond to hazardous materials spills.

QUALIFICATIONS

The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.

Knowledge of:

Principles and practices of maintenance and repair activities related to area of assignment.

Common tools, materials, and motorized vehicles and equipment used in assigned area of responsibility.

The City of Thousand Oaks has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Code Compliance Officer in the Community Development Department! We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented individual to lead and support staff in the enforcement of municipal code compliance, investigation techniques and practices, and interpretation of regulations.

Primary responsibilities:

• Assists in planning, organizing, prioritizing, scheduling, coordinating, supervising and evaluating the work of code compliance staff; provides technical assistance to staff as necessary.
• Assists in providing staff training and development; training assigned employees in their areas of work including methods, procedures, and techniques.
• Assists in verifying the work of assigned employees for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations; assists in ensuring adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
• Assists in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the section; participates in long-term planning to assess future needs.
• Conducts technical field inspections and investigations to determine compliance of residential, commercial and industrial buildings with zoning ordinances, conditions of zoning variance, special use, and other conditioned permits.
• Issues administrative citations as needed.
• Oversees and responds to citizens submitting concerns through MaintStar.
• Performs other duties as required.

• 4/10 work schedule (Four 10-hour shifts per week)

                               MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be 21 years of age as of the date of hire
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Equivalent to graduation from an accredited U.S. high school or a passing score on the General Education Development (GED) test.   
• Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Be of good moral character with no felony convictions.

                                         TESTING PROCESS:

• Written Examination Upon passing the written exam, candidates will be contacted via email to complete a Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ).

• Oral Interview & Eligibility List Candidates who submit their PHQ in a timely and appropriate manner will be invited to an oral interview with Background Detectives. Successful candidates will be placed on an eligibility list based on interview ranking.

• Background Investigation Top candidates will undergo a comprehensive background investigation, which includes:

  • Medical evaluation

• Physical Agility Testing Candidates must successfully complete the following physical agility components:

  • One Mile Run – 10 minutes
