The PTCO position in the DOT Parking Compliance Unit is responsible for:

• Patrolling assigned areas within the City limits and responding to complaints for illegally parked motor vehicles for the purpose of enforcing motor vehicle, roadway, garage and surface lot parking laws and regulations.
• Supports school safety and vehicle abatement programs
• Provides tow support for construction or street maintenance projects.

Facilities Maintenance Technician II (journey-level class in the classification series)

Responsible for performing the full range of maintenance duties at City buildings and facilities in order to ensure that all are maintained in a safe and effective working condition and provide the highest level of safety for City and public use. Incumbents are responsible for performing maintenance and alterations on buildings and facilities, electrical and mechanical systems, identifying and evaluating construction-related problems, and performing installation and repairs on plumbing systems. Incumbents are expected to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician in that the latter is responsible for technical and functional supervision of lower level maintenance staff and is capable of performing the most complex duties assigned to the series.

Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician (advanced journey-level class in the classification series)

Responsible for providing lead supervision and training to facilities maintenance staff. Incumbents regularly work on tasks that are varied and complex, requiring considerable discretion and independent judgment, including performing the most complex duties required to ensure City buildings, facilities, and grounds are maintained in a safe and effective working condition and provide the highest level of safety for public use. Responsibilities include training, developing and scheduling Facilities Maintenance Technicians, inspecting and attending to assigned areas in a timely manner, and performing a wide variety of tasks in the maintenance and repair of City buildings, facilities and grounds. Positions in this classification rely on experience and judgment to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the assigned section. The work involves problem-solving of unique issues or increasingly complex problems without precedent and/or structure. Assignments are given with general guidelines and incumbents are responsible for establishing objectives, timelines, and methods to deliver work products.

Positions in the Facilities Maintenance Technician class series are flexibly staffed and positions are normally filled by advancement from the previous level; progression to the next level is subject to management approval and is dependent on the incumbent (i) performing the full range of duties assigned to their current level, and (ii) acquiring the knowledge, skill, and experience necessary to meet the minimum qualifications for the next level of the series.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting to fill the position of Senior Facilities Maintenance Specialist in the Administrative Services & Human Resources/Risk Management Department, Facilities Division.

In this exciting opportunity, the Senior Facilities Maintenance Specialist will work under direct supervision of the Facilities & Fleet Superintendent and will be responsible for maintaining and constructing all City buildings, structures, and park facilities. This role calls for a dynamic team player with outstanding communication and customer service skills, a positive attitude in the face of challenges, and a commitment to going the extra mile. It requires someone who can work independently, collaborate effectively as part of a team, and has experience supervising or coordinating work and overseeing the performance of others.

The Senior Facilities Maintenance Specialist is distinguished from the Facilities Maintenance Specialist in that the Senior Specialist is expected to perform the more challenging and complex tasks and is expected to perform certain administrative functions in support of the Facilities Division. This role offers a blend of strategic oversight and hands-on work. You'll have the opportunity to lead initiatives that impact the community directly, such as energy efficiency upgrades, safety improvements, and facility renovations. These tasks include a range of semi-skilled construction and repair work involving the use of basic tools and trade-related equipment. Duties may involve repairing electrical equipment and wiring systems; fixing windows, doors, cabinets, and other building components; maintaining interior and exterior furniture such as tables, chairs, benches, and bookcases; performing general plumbing repairs and installations; and carrying out basic concrete and masonry work. 

Additionally, you must be able to diagnose mechanical problems and methodically troubleshoot any issues occurring with building systems, machines, and equipment. This role also serves as a trainer and provides leadership to the team on specific tasks and projects.

The Organization 

Incorporated in 1927, Menlo Park is a general Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. The Department

The City of Newark is seeking an energetic and committed Associate Civil Engineer to perform professional civil engineering work related to the planning, review, design, construction, inspection, and coordination of a variety of public works projects with a particular emphasis on Land Development. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Meet and confer with developers, contractors, engineers and the general public relative to city policies, regulations, and procedures.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

• Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field. 
• Three (3) years of civil engineering experience, including one year of lead responsibility. 
• Registered as a licensed Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California.
• Possession of a valid driver license and a satisfactory driving record throughout employment.

The Position:

The Assistant City Manager works directly for the City Manager in the Office of the City Manager. The Office is responsible for the general management and oversight of Daly City’s municipal operations, including the North County Fire Authority and North San Mateo County Sanitation District. Utilities Maintenance Worker I:

This is the entry level class in the Utilities Maintenance Worker series. The Utilities Maintenance Worker I often performs many of the duties required of Utilities Maintenance Worker II but is not expected to have the depth of experience, skill level and certifications of the Utilities Maintenance Worker II. As a result, the Utilities Maintenance Worker I will have fewer opportunities to exercise independent discretion and judgment on matters related to work procedures and methods.

Utilities Maintenance Worker II:

This is the journey level in the Utilities Maintenance Worker series. This class differs from Utilities Maintenance Worker I in that incumbents perform more complex maintenance duties including working independently, exercising judgment, and operating the full range of tools and mechanical equipment related to a specific assignment. The Utilities Maintenance Worker II may also be expected to assist in the oversight and training of less experienced personnel. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from level I, or by candidates with prior work experience elsewhere.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Use the Closed-Circuit Television Truck, sewer cable machine, flush sewer laterals and mains, assist in sewer tap installations, clean storm drain lines and catch basins

Water Distribution Assignments

Assist in water tap installations; Install, remove, and repair water meters, hydrants, service valves, and mainline valves

All Utilities Maintenance Worker I/II

Operate equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates; Take meter and gauge readings; Accurately maintain records and reports; Utilize proper safety precautions related to all performed work; Comply with the policies and procedures in the department Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP); Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that the employee must be present to work on facilities and equipment impacting on the public’s health and safety

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS 

Respond to inquiries from the general public; Prepare as-built sketches when required to convey information to engineering for graphic documentation; Check water meters for proper operation; Troubleshoot registers and repair as necessary; Initiate and discontinue water service to customer accounts as directed; Operate telemetering and flow monitoring equipment; Work cooperatively with others; Perform related duties as assigned; Both assignments will require employees to be “On Call” as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Utilities Maintenance Worker I

Education: 

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent. 

Experience:

• Requires at least one (1) year of experience in construction or related field.

License and Certificate: 

Sanitary Sewer/Storm Assignments

• Grade I Wastewater Collections System Maintenance certificate issued by California Water Environment Association upon permanent employment

Water Distribution Assignments

• Possession of a California State Drinking Water Operator Certification Program (DWOCP) Grade I Water Distribution Operator (D1) upon permanent employment

All Utilities Maintenance Worker I/II

• Possession of a valid California Driver's License
• Class B Driver’s permit and DMV Medical Certification are required within three (3) months of hire

Prior to Permanent Appointment Employee Must Obtain:

• Valid Class B Driver's License with Tank and Air Brake Endorsement
• Work Zone Safety certification issued by the International Municipal Signal Association
• First Aid and CPR certifications
• Competent Person certification
• Confined Space certification

Utilities Maintenance Worker II

Education: 

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent. 
• Courses in, or graduation from, the American Public Works Association’s Public Works Institute is desirable.

Experience: 

• Requires at least one (1) year of experience performing duties comparable to those of a Utilities Maintenance Worker I.

License and Certificate:

Sanitary Sewer/Storm Drainage Systems Assignment

• Requires possession of Grade II Wastewater Collections System Maintenance certificate issued by California Water Environment Association within 18 months of hire.
• A Pipeline Assessment and Certification Program certificate issued by the National Association of Sewer System Companies (NASSCO) is desirable.

Water Distribution Assignments

• Requires possession of a DWOCP Grade II Water Distribution Operator (D2) certificate upon hire.

$4,202.25 – 5,363.26 /month
$1,939.50 - $2,475.35 /bi-weekly

Utilities Maintenance Worker II
$4,754.46 - $6,068.04 / month
$2,194.36 - $2,800.63 /bi-weekly

Future Salary COLAs:        
1% increase (eff January 2026)

Retirement:                          
CalPERS Retirement System (2 % @ 60 formula for Classic CalPERS members and 2% @ 62 formula for new CalPERS members).  The City does not participate in social security

Deferred Compensation:                   
Choice of deferred compensation plans (Traditional and Roth) with 1% City-match.  After successful completion of probation, new hires are also eligible for a 2% City contribution.

Medical:                                
CalPERS Medical Insurance Plans, including HMOs and PPOs.  City gives an allowance toward the cost of insurance.  Maximum Family Medical Allowance (2025): $2,463.99 per month

Dental/Vision:                      
City paid Delta Dental and VSP Vision Benefits

LTD/STD:                              
City paid wage protection for long/short term disabilities
