The Department

The City Clerk’s Office administers the democratic process such as elections, access to records, and all legislative actions, ensuring transparency to the public. The City Clerk serves as a steward of the democratic process and is a liaison between the City Council and members of the public. The Department

The Department of Economic and Community Development includes four dynamic divisions that together are responsible for the preservation and improvement of the physical and economic conditions of the South San Francisco community. The Building Division is responsible for enforcing the California Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electric, Residential, and Energy Codes, as well as monitoring construction activity and performing inspections throughout the construction process.                   

The City of San Carlos has an opportunity for a full-time Maintenance Worker to work in their Public Works Department. This classification performs a variety of routine, heavy labor and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of public works facilities, City parks, and City buildings.

Essential Duties

• Perform daily safety checks and routine maintenance of equipment to ensure it is safe for use.
• Use proper techniques for operation of equipment and tools in a safe manner, according to accepted City procedures.
• Operate maintenance equipment and tools such as trucks, power tools, sewer rodder, hydraulic jet rodder/vacuum truck, loader backhoe, compressor, boom truck, CCTV truck, pneumatic and electro-mechanical controls, and related equipment and tools for a variety of construction and maintenance operations.
• Perform on-call duties and work in emergency situations as required.
• Install, repair and modify pump station machinery and controls.
• Check pump stations for proper operation; troubleshoot and remedy malfunctions and stoppages.
• Read and interpret maps of underground sewer and drainage systems.
• Paint traffic markings on streets, crosswalks, parking lots, and curbs; operate airless line striping equipment.
• Manufacture and install traffic signs and remove signs no longer required.
• Design and manufacture special signs for municipal facilities.
• Install and remove traffic barricades and cones as required.
• Repair surface failures, utility cuts, chuckholes and seals cracks in asphalt pavements properly and competently.
• Break out and replace concrete sidewalks and gutters using a concrete saw, pavement breaker, wooden forms, and hand tools to finish the surface.
• Clean sanitary sewer lines using hand tools, a hydraulic jet rodder/vacuum and mechanical rodder.
• Excavate, remove, and install sanitary sewer pipes utilizing hand tools, power tools such as pneumatic pavement breakers, compaction equipment and loader backhoe.
• Repair storm drains, catch basins and storm drain pipes.
• Drive dump trucks to haul material to and from the job sites.
• Rake leaves, shovel and digs holes.
• Pick up and dispose of trash and debris from parks and roadsides.
• Control the growth of weeds in lawn areas, shrub areas and flower beds using hand tools, spray equipment and weed eaters.
• Trim trees, hedges, and shrubs using appropriate equipment, remove debris.
• Check irrigation sprinkler systems and ensures their proper functioning, by cleaning and adjusting heads and digging up and repairing broken lines.
• Clean City's park buildings by sweeping and mopping floors, carpets, and cleaning restroom facilities. Replaces light bulbs.
• Provide set up of tables and chairs for City functions.

What You’ll Do 

The Communications Manager will hone and execute the City of San Mateo’s communication strategy, which will include key actions to enhance community engagement and participation, increase community awareness about City activities and initiatives, foster cross-departmental coordination and unity, standardize media response procedures, improve the website user experience, and standardize training and onboarding for new communications staff.  You will work with our internal team to ensure current, high-quality communications products are available. The Communications Manager reports to the Assistant City Manager and may receive direction from the City Manager, has direct supervisory responsibilities, and will lead collaborative teams. 

Some duties may include:  

• Lead the City’s social media efforts and cross departmental social media team; develop and coordinate implementation of the City’s social media strategy, policies and presence and monitor the City’s online reputation. 

• Develop and implement an integrated strategic communication plan to advance the City’s brand identity and broaden awareness of its programs, priorities and accomplishments; ensure communication strategies are consistent with the City’s strategic plan and vision.  

• Create and manage a decentralized communications team to support the departments’ communications needs and the development and execution of the communications strategy.

THE POSITION

TYPICAL DUTIES (may include but are not limited to the following):

• This position may occasionally work at either City Hall (400 Grand Avenue) or the Economic Advancement Center (366 Grand Avenue) both in South San Francisco. Events and meetings coordinated by the Division take place all within the City of South San Francisco.

A Dispatcher II is a civilian employee of the Police Department who performs a variety of tasks in the Department’s Support Services Division. The Dispatcher II acts as the Department’s primary dispatcher, receiving and relaying incoming calls for emergency and non-emergency assistance; dispatching police units; operating a variety of telecommunications equipment including radio, telephone, and computer-aided dispatch systems; status monitoring, records and file maintenance in a computer-aided environment; and entry level dispatch training. A Dispatcher II may be assigned to work various hours, shifts, holidays, weekends and overtime.

Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: prioritize requests for service based upon available resources, receive radio requests and handle accordingly, type, process and file a wide variety of reports and materials including memos, letters, complaints, declarations, warrants, citations, crime and traffic reports. Assists Department personnel and the public in person and by phone performing record checks, collecting fees and mailing requested reports to outside agencies in accordance with established regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Have a combination of education and work experience, including a minimum of 1 year of dispatch work; 2 years general office work involving typing of varied materials, public contact, general filing and basic record keeping; type at least 40 wpm (net). Have knowledge of business English, spelling; modern office practices and procedures; record keeping. Ability to dispatch police units quickly and effectively; work under pressure; exercise independent judgment; work with minimal supervision; make sound decisions in emergency situations; learn assigned clerical tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed routine; write English legibly; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; operate computer-aided dispatch system, 911 emergency telephone, and other multi-line telephone systems, various law enforcement telecommunications systems, radio console with headsets and handsets, computer keyboards, cameras, intercoms, security. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The City of Pleasant Hill offers a competitive compensation and benefits program.

• Salary: $6,987 to $9,050 per month. Placement within the range depends on experience and qualifications.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The City of Pacifica is recruiting for a Public Works Superintendent within the Department of Public Works. THE DEPARTMENT

The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining and repairing the City’s infrastructure and wastewater treatment operations in an efficient and cost-effective manner while providing a high level of customer service and a safe work environment for city employees. The Department maintains parks, playing fields and medians and keeps streets and trails clean and well-maintained. The Department also coordinates the tree program, cleans beaches and coordinates the City Beautification program.

The Public Works Department is organized into three divisions including Wastewater Treatment Operations, Field Services and Engineering. The Wastewater Treatment Operations includes the operation of the Calera Creek water treatment plant and management of the collection system. Field Services oversees the maintenance of city streets, parks, trees, vehicles and public facilities. The Engineering Division manages public infrastructure projects, transportation planning and maintenance and repair of the City’s infrastructure. The Public Works Department is supported by 56 full-time staff and an annual operating budget of $4.6 million, along with a FY2023-2028 CIP appropriation of $ 8.6 million.

The City of Redwood City, City Manager’s Office, invites you to apply for the position of Management Analyst II-Homelessness/Human Services.  In recent years, Redwood City has emerged as a leader in deploying innovative solutions to address homelessness in our local community. These efforts reflect the City’s broader commitment to human services and ensuring that individuals experiencing homelessness have access to housing, supportive services, and long-term pathways to stability. The position will also support the creation of the anti-camping ordinance. 

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional to join the team that is leading the City’s efforts on homelessness.  The Management Analyst will work closely with City leadership to design and implement strategies to address homelessness.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

• Support the Assistant City Manager or his/her designee with the financial oversight and analysis of the $3.5 million annual budget for the City’s Homelessness Initiatives.
• Comply with state, county, and private grant requirements including cost allocations and documentation of Homelessness Initiatives Program expenditures by contracted service providers, strengthening of reporting systems.
• Manage grants from inception through close out, ensuring that best practices are followed, and spend down is maximized.
• Create annual budgets and budgets for proposals, complete budget modifications, and monitor actual expenditures versus budget.
• Prepare grant invoices and financial reports.
• Prepare financial reports for the City’s Homelessness Initiatives.
• Monitor and track budget, revenue, and expenditures for Homelessness Initiatives within the City’s financial system and with City’s Finance Staff.
• Develop cost/benefit analysis of City’s Homelessness Initiatives investments in relationship to ongoing costs of mitigation.
• Draft staff reports and other written materials.
