ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Dixon is opening a great opportunity for those interested in contributing to local law enforcement efforts for the position of Police Volunteer in the Police Department. Under the direction and supervision of experienced police personnel, volunteers will provide critical support across various functions, complementing the efforts of sworn officers and civilian staff.

This is a volunteer position intended as an educational and community service experience. In addition to serving a support role within the Police Department, this classification is exposed to a wide variety of law enforcement duties and will have different opportunities, based on level of interest, to support community policing efforts and activities.

Under the supervision of veteran Police Officer's the cadet experiences what it takes to develop important cadet skills. Recreation Leader I/II
The City of Foster City is searching for talented, energetic, responsible individuals who are serious about having fun! If you can think on your feet and be a fun team player, this could be the position for you! As a Recreation Leader, you’ll be responsible for implementing quality youth and teen programs and providing a safe environment for our participants. This is a part-time, seasonal, non-benefited position limited to approximately 20 hours per week and 980 hours in a fiscal year. Level of position will be determined based on the experience (see Education and Training Guidelines). 

Summer Camps
Candidates must commit to working for the entire Summer (June 15, 2026 - August 8, 2026). There will also be a mandatory training for all new and returning staff on June 8, 2026 through June 12, 2026. Work hours will vary between 7:45am – 6:00pm depending on the camp, Monday through Friday. No weekends shifts are available. 

Summer Camps: Kamp Koala, Camp Outback, Camp Way Outback, Camp Breakaway. 

The Vibe Teen Center
We are looking for Recreation Leaders to assist with supervision, lead recreational activities, supervise rentals, and plan special events for teens. This position will start in June and Recreation Leaders must be able to work on a Friday or work a weekend shift each week. Work hours will vary, but typically will be from:

School Year Schedule: Positions are limited.

• Monday - Thursday 3:00pm-6:00pm
• Fridays 3:00pm-9:00pm
• Some weekend shifts are available.

Summer Schedule: 

• Monday-Thursday: 3:00pm-6:00pm

Important and Essential Responsibilities

Education and Training Guidelines

Recreation Leader I: Completion of eighth grade. No previous experience required. Volunteer or paid experience with groups of children is desirable.

Recreation Leader II: Completion of the ninth grade. Experience as a participant in a variety of recreation activities. Some experience in group leadership is desirable.

Special Requirements 
Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 25 lbs.); complete forms and reports; ability to set-up and coordinate activities; remain calm and use good judgment in difficult and emergency situations; work flexible hours. Physical strength and stamina will be required in some positions to perform demonstrations and leads activities. 

Licenses, Certificates, Registration 

• Certificates: American Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety Course or equivalent (including adult, child infant CPR, and Standard First Aid) or ability to obtain at the beginning of employment.
• All successful candidates under age 18 must possess a work permit prior to hire.

Summary

Under general supervision, the Marketing Assistant assists in the planning and organization of registration, marketing, publicity, and community outreach efforts in accordance with District policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and implementation of social media strategies and campaigns
• Assist in the administration and maintenance of the District’s website
• Compile and maintain distribution lists for mailings and electronic communications
• Solicit feedback from participants and visitors through online surveys and distribute relevant response data to staff in the District units
• Promote District events, activities, facilities, and other special projects
• Support staff in District Units in the development of news releases, special event flyers/brochures, community announcements, project-based communications, or other communication methods

Qualifications

The City of San Bruno Fire Department offers an exciting opportunity to serve as a Fire Cadet. Our one-year Fire Cadet program is an unpaid, volunteer work experience program that offers hands-on training, and introductory knowledge of firefighting skills, fire service tools and equipment. Cadets respond to emergency calls, render Basic Life Support and participate in training, and participate in the daily station duties.

Cadets must be willing to commit to 24-hour shifts, two to four times per month. The cadet program is one year in length. Upon completion, this program meets the manipulative training and experience requirements in obtaining a California State Fire Marshal’s Office Firefighter II certification.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• State of California EMT certification
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and a driving record with minimal violations
• Possession of a Firefighter I Academy certification (or proof of “student in good standing” letter signed by an Academy Instructor if currently enrolled)

The City of Lincoln is hiring up to 6 part-time Assistant Pool Managers within the Recreation Department.  This position may require you to work various days, weekends or evenings.

Seasonal employees are limited to working no more than 999 hours in a fiscal year.

Under direction, assists in the overall operations of a swimming pool facility, and its assigned temporary employees; assists in the planning, organizing, coordination, development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of aquatic activities and programs for all ages.

The Assistant Pool Manager is the working lead class responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the pool and aquatics program. This class is distinguished from the next higher classification of Pool Manager in that the latter has overall responsibility for the pool operations, programs, and staff.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

Receives direction from the Pool Manager. Exercises indirect supervision over temporary and seasonal aquatics personnel; may exercise direct supervision in the Pool Manager’s absence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Include but are not limited to the following:

• Assist in monitoring and supervision of the day-to-day operations of the aquatics program, which includes direction to lifeguards/instructors; enforce and explain pool regulations and policies; administer first aid and perform emergency rescues.
• Maintain proper health specifications, in restroom and locker areas and take all safety precautions.
• Manage the daily opening and closing of the facility.
• Assist in the oversight of proper sanitation and maintenance of pool water; ensure cleanliness of restrooms, dressing rooms, and public areas; report maintenance conditions affecting facility operation and security.
• Assist in the oversight of the safe and proper operations of assigned pool; ensure pool rules and safety guidelines are followed; maintain order with disruptive patrons and exercise crowd control where warranted; and refer escalated issues to assigned supervisor or proper authorities.
• Exercise lead/indirect supervision over all assigned staff including temporary and seasonal staff, independent contract instructors, and volunteers. Exercise direct supervision in the Pool Manager’s absence.
• Participate in the recruitment and hiring of temporary, part-time, or seasonal aquatics staff as required.
• Promote and enforce water safety procedures; effect swimming rescues; render first aid and CPR as required; ensure the safety of pool users and enforce all user rules and policies of the department.
• Complete, review, and file accident and incident reports; assist with follow-up related to reports; purchase, check, and maintain first aid equipment; perform daily safety checks and inspections of the facility and all equipment.
• Assist with employee schedules; complete reports on chemical tests; assist with the training of lifeguards and other aquatics staff; verify and check aquatics staff timecards; submit timecards to Pool Manager for approval; coordinate and facilitate staff meetings; assist with special events.
• Work with maintenance staff to ensure that pool facility maintenance procedures are followed.
• Keep the pool, pool deck, and auxiliary buildings/areas clean and free of litter and debris.
• Act as the Pool Manager in her/his absence.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Position requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, grasping, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when reading correspondence, statistical data and using a computer. The need to lift, drag and push files, paper and equipment weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. The incumbent may use cleaning chemicals, or pool chemicals, which may expose the employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions, including wet, hot and cold and is required to swim.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS

POSITION

The City of Daly City is looking for people interested in working 10-20 hours per week in a variety of settings selected by the Department of Library and Recreation Services. Our current openings are in the Recreation Division and may be in the areas of the Afterschool Youth Recreation Program, Aquatics Program or Facility Attendant. This position will report directly to the Recreation Program Coordinator or Recreation Program Supervisor and will work various hours throughout the week, including evenings and weekends

Under direct supervision, a Recreator I performs assigned tasks which serve the public use of municipal recreation facilities and performs other related duties as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Open and close facilities following established guidelines, set up equipment needed for facility programs, perform routine maintenance and clean up for assigned facilities, collect fees for facility use, maintain order and discipline in assigned facilities and programs by enforcing City and Departmental policies, may assist in assigned program areas, may supervise volunteers or court workers as assigned, and maintain accurate records and reports.  May include specific assignments such as cashiering, attending to locker rooms, aiding with swim instruction, staffing facilities used by the public, and assisting with recreational programming.  Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: General facility operations, basic lesson instruction techniques for an assigned area, and safety practices for assigned programs.

Ability to: Follow written and oral instructions, meet and communicate effectively with members of the public, and carry out assignments requiring average physical strength such as setting up tables and chairs.  Learn and progress in this position, direct others, understand and enforce written and oral rules, regulations and policies, solve minor disciplinary problems, interact positively and cooperate with co-workers, respond politely to customers, work as a team member, function under demanding time pressure, respond in a positive manner to supervision, and attend work and perform duties on a regular and consistent basis.

Experience:  No previous work experience is required; however experience in working or volunteering with people is desirable.

Education: Successful completion of ninth grade.

License: Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License is desirable.

Certification:  May be required to possess a valid training certification as required for a specific assigned program area.

Emphasis One: FACILITY ATTENDANT:

Examples of Duties:

Responsible for overseeing facilities and parks during reservations, programs, and activities. Supervise facility events; ensure facility is set-up according to event requirements including all official city supported meetings/special events. Check condition of amenities and ensure cleanup requirements are met by renters. Educate public of Recreation Division classes, programs, activities, and events. Monitor youth sports programs within the facilities; address participant and parent concerns; provide lead direction to sports officials. Routinely adhere to and maintain a positive attitude toward City and Department goals.

Knowledge Of:

Basic office/customer service skills (answering phone calls, talking to patrons etc.)

Emphasis Two: LIFEGUARD:

Example of Duties:

Educate patrons in water safety, provide patrons with a safe aquatic environment, perform lifeguard secondary duties, and instruct swim lessons. Promote aquatic programs, assisting senior guard, and aquatics assistant. Conduct rescue operations and administer CPR and First Aid. Direct communication and contact with swimmers and the public.

Knowledge of:

Basic child guidance principles and practices. General techniques of various swim strokes.

Ability to:

Be active, lift and/or carry equipment and supplies. Work in a leadership role with children and adults

Certification:

Possession of an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification is required to work in Aquatics area as a lifeguard. Possession of an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification is desirable to work in the Aquatics area as swim instructor. 

Emphasis Three: YOUTH PROGRAM LEADER:

Examples of Duties:

Assists in preparing instructional, craft, and other materials; participates in, and encourages, play activities with the children; may assist in providing tutorial and/or remedial activities in small groups. Provides support duties for child development services in Youth Services programs; prepares and serves snacks based on established guidelines; performs clean-up and food storage duties. Assists with maintaining required and appropriate documentation; including observation notes, logs, and other records. May participate in public relations, outreach, and community education activities. Attends staff training, workshops, and courses as directed by supervisor.

Knowledge of:

Ongoing programs and upcoming events. Child development services, operations and activities. Basic computer applications such as word processing and databases.

Ability to:

Work well with children. Able to provide encouragement for participation in programs.

Emphasis Four:  OLDER ADULT VOLUNTEER & PROGRAM SUPPORT

Examples of Duties:
Assists in supporting daily senior services programs and overseeing volunteers. Contributes to creating a welcoming and safe environment for community and volunteers. May participate in community outreach and education efforts.  Attends trainings as directed by supervisor.

Knowledge of: 
Customer service; basic office procedures; Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher); volunteer management and Registration management applications; and programs and service providers for older adults.

Ability to:
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing; maintain confidential records; work well with older adults (50+); organize schedules; meet deadlines; learn on the job; collaborate with patrons, volunteers and colleagues across City departments; ability set boundaries with patrons and volunteers.  Fluency in Spanish, Cantonese or Tagalog a plus.
