GENERAL INFO  
  

Under general supervision, the Lifeguard/Swim Instructor I/II performs routine public contact and safety work in serving as a pool lifeguard. They also provide essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program support, and minor maintenance duties relating to aquatics. This temporary, parttime position requires working up to 20 hours per week. The role involves ensuring the health and safety of aquatic patrons, facilities are clean, safe, and operational while delivering excellent customer service. Performs other duties as assigned.   

 

UNIVERSAL POSITION DUTIES (Applicable to all roles; Illustrative Purposes Only)  

Monitor the swimming pool and enforce safety regulations.  

Assist with aquatics programs, special events, and facility upkeep.  

Test and maintain pool water chemistry.  

Set up and tear down for classes, programs, and events.  

Lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.  

Work outdoors in sun, rain, or wind as needed.

Supervise lifeguards and enforce safety procedures.  

Conduct lifeguard rotations and monitor staff performance.  

Ensure staff maintain a “rescue-ready” posture and remain alert while on duty.  

Assist in planning and leading weekly and monthly safety trainings.

Open, close, and secure facility as needed.  

Provide customer service, event support, and light facility maintenance.

About the role:                   

The Parks, Recreation & Community Services Manager – Arts & Events is responsible for overseeing the City’s signature community events, cultural programming, and public art initiatives that celebrate Redwood City’s diverse community and vibrant downtown. This position manages the planning, coordination, and production of a wide range of public events including festivals, concerts, cultural celebrations, and arts programming that bring people together and foster community pride.

In addition to event management, this role provides critical support to the Director of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services on all public art initiatives. The Arts and Events Manager serve as the staff liaison to the Arts Commission, manages website content related to the Commission and public art, and leads the implementation and updating of the City’s Public Art Master Plan. The position also ensures compliance with the Percent for Art Ordinance, including public art permit application management, maintaining detailed records of all art in public places (45.070 Section C), and overseeing the recognition and promotion of public art throughout the city.

The Arts and Events Manager collaborate closely with the Economic Development Manager and works with developers as new commercial projects over 50,000 square feet come on board, ensuring compliance with public art requirements.

More broadly, this role involves negotiating, preparing, and managing contracts and agreements with vendors, performers, artists, and community partners, while ensuring compliance with City policies and maintaining strong inter-agency collaboration.

San Mateo County Health is seeking a well-qualified individual for the position of Social Work Supervisor - Aging & Disability Services (ADS) – Supportive Services. Social Work Supervisors plan, assign, review, and evaluate the work of a team of Social Workers, a Community Worker and Public Health Nurses. The Social Work Supervisor provides directions to staff on casework concepts, methods and procedures, provisions of services, and departmental policies and procedures under direction of a Health Services Manager.

The Social Work Supervisor position is located within ADS’ Supportive Services unit, which includes the Enhanced Care Management (ECM), Partners for Independence (PFI), and In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) programs. In addition to overseeing operations and providing supervision to Social Workers in Supportive Services programs, the supervisor will assist with the on-going integration of California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal’s (CalAIM) ECM and Community Supports programs, working closely with the Health Plan of San Mateo (HPSM) – a Managed Care Plan for San Mateo County Medi-Cal recipients. In collaboration with key stakeholders, the supervisor will facilitate and refine care management and care coordination services to promote a seamless continuum of care within a whole-person centered care model.

The ECM and PFI program serve adult clients who need assistance managing complex medical and psychosocial needs, linking to community resources, and coordinating in-home care to safely remain in the community. The team conducts home and other field visits to assess clients’ psychosocial and safety needs engaging clients in the creation of appropriate case planning, care coordination and management goals.

This full-time position follows a Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm schedule, working in both South San Francisco and San Mateo offices. It is anticipated that the position will primarily work in the office during the probationary period, but include hybrid work accordingly. Office requirements include four on-site workdays to align with operational needs and County requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

This recruitment is for one (1) Manager position in the Assessment, Inventory & Modeling (AIM) Division. This is an open recruitment for one (1) full-time, exempt, management position. 

About the Position
Under administrative direction, the position manages the Air Quality Modeling and Analysis (AQM&A) Section in the AIM Division. The manager is responsible for: maintaining a positive work environment within the AQM&A Section to promote a culture of excellence; directing the development and evaluation of air quality modeling analyses at both regional and local scales, including modeling assessment of potential health impacts from various air pollutants and emission sources; with support from AIM Division staff, developing, evaluating, and reporting modeling-based assessments of community exposure and health impacts from air pollution; interacting with the Board of Directors, Advisory Council, and Air District management and staff on air quality modeling assessments; and performing related work as assigned.

Incumbents in this class make decisions that have impacts on daily operations and implementation of established procedures and policies and solve problems requiring analyses of issues that may result in deviations from routine processes, new technology, and additional resources.  Incumbents make recommendations for program planning and directing, as well as organizing new and future resource needs.

About the Division
The Assessment, Inventory, and Modeling (AIM) Division prepares comprehensive source emission inventories for the Bay Area and conducts air quality modeling at both regional and community scales. AIM prepares technical assessments that evaluate equity in air pollution exposures and health impacts in support of Air District programs. AIM coordinates and implements programs to improve and report estimates of emissions of criteria pollutants, toxic air contaminants, and climate forcing pollutants. AIM maintains the Bay Area photochemical grid modeling platform and functions, developed and analyze modeled concentrations, exposures of toxic air contaminants, particulate matter, ozone and their precursors, to support targeted strategies that reduce impacts of air pollution both regionally and within communities, especially where Assembly Bill (AB) 617 community action plans are being developed and implemented. AIM reviews and provides guidance on environmental health risk assessments within environmental review documents prepared pursuant to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

The incumbent will assume responsibility for leading and managing multiple programs and functional areas within the AIM Division and assisting the Division Director in implementing the Air District’s policies and best practices, as well as making decisions regarding program planning, project prioritization, and staff resources allocation. The incumbent will also lead or support collaborative projects across Divisions and provide technical assessments of modeled air pollutant concentrations and health risk associated with stationary and mobile sources.

The City of Redwood City, City Manager’s Office, invites you to apply for the position of Management Analyst II-Homelessness/Human Services.  In recent years, Redwood City has emerged as a leader in deploying innovative solutions to address homelessness in our local community. These efforts reflect the City’s broader commitment to human services and ensuring that individuals experiencing homelessness have access to housing, supportive services, and long-term pathways to stability. The position will also support the creation of the anti-camping ordinance. 

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional to join the team that is leading the City’s efforts on homelessness.  The Management Analyst will work closely with City leadership to design and implement strategies to address homelessness.

 

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

• Support the Assistant City Manager or his/her designee with the financial oversight and analysis of the $3.5 million annual budget for the City’s Homelessness Initiatives.
• Comply with state, county, and private grant requirements including cost allocations and documentation of Homelessness Initiatives Program expenditures by contracted service providers, strengthening of reporting systems.
• Manage grants from inception through close out, ensuring that best practices are followed, and spend down is maximized.
• Create annual budgets and budgets for proposals, complete budget modifications, and monitor actual expenditures versus budget.
• Prepare grant invoices and financial reports.
• Prepare financial reports for the City’s Homelessness Initiatives.
• Monitor and track budget, revenue, and expenditures for Homelessness Initiatives within the City’s financial system and with City’s Finance Staff.
• Develop cost/benefit analysis of City’s Homelessness Initiatives investments in relationship to ongoing costs of mitigation.
• Draft staff reports and other written materials.

QUALIFICATIONS (The following are minimal qualifications necessary for entry into the classification)

Education and experience:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Obtaining a Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school and at least three years professional library experience in a public library setting including some supervisory experience. 

 

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to work in a standard library environment; ability to stoop, sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, squat, reach, and twist, climb stairs; ability to use independent judgement and initiative. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 100 pounds.

ABOUT THE POSITION

 

Within the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department the LEAD LANDSCAPE GARDENER will perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work and be involved in the development, maintenance and repairs of City parks, medians,  landscaped areas and athletic fields; assist in supervision of Landscape Gardeners and part-time personnel, and operate a wide variety of landscape maintenance equipment.

NOTE: May be required to travel between various locations during scheduled work shift and drive vehicles used to transport materials, tools, and equipment.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to: 

• Operate mowers, tractors, trencher, vehicles, equipment, and utilize a variety of hand and power tools in park landscape maintenance work; assist in routine maintenance of such equipment.
• Perform minor routine maintenance of sprinklers.
• Prepare and maintain athletic fields and related facilities; clean restrooms and pick up litter around parks and medians. 
• Assist in the requisition and purchase of materials and supplies.
• Water, mow, weed, trim, renovate, and fertilize lawns; prune trees and shrubs; plant trees, flowers, and shrubs.
• Apply herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides safely; maintain records of fertilizers and chemicals used.
• Read and interpret blue prints; make minor design changes in parks.
• Supervise and train less experienced personnel.
