VTA is seeking a skilled and dedicated Substation Maintainer to join our team. This role will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of electrical substations with 750 volt DC and 11,000 - 22,000 volts AC power. 

About Way, Power & Signal Maintenance
Way, Power & Signal Maintenance is responsible for timely and reliable maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspections, repair and servicing of the light rail right-of-way, rail system power, tracks, signals, station facilities and related equipment. Components of the Way, Power & Signal unit are:

• Station & Wayside Maintenance: Station & Wayside Maintenance maintains and repairs (including graffiti removal) light rail stations, terminal buildings, restrooms, park & ride lots, landscaping, fences, guardrails, and other trackside areas.

• Track Maintenance: Track Maintenance maintains (including right-of-way weed eradication, vegetation control, and graffiti removal), performs preventive maintenance, inspects, services and repairs rail, switches, ties, roadbed, and track systems.

• Power Maintenance: Power Maintenance maintains (including trackside right-of-way tree trimming), performs preventive maintenance, inspects, repairs, and services light rail electric power systems, including overhead, substations, lighting, and other electrical systems.

• Signal Maintenance: Signal Maintenance maintains, performs preventive maintenance, inspects, repairs, and services signal systems, crossing gates, fare machines, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) controls, and station audio/video equipment.

• Inspects, adjusts and/or repairs voltage in the line, battery systems, circuit breakers, relays, and connections;

DEFINITION 

As a Building Attendant, you will be responsible for the daily upkeep and maintenance of the Burlingame Community Center, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all occupants. This role requires a hands-on individual with excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Hours: (Average 10-20 hours per week). Hours depend on rentals and special events. Shifts may include, but are not limited too:

Monday-Thursday: 2:30pm-9:15pm

Friday: 2:30pm-5:30pm
Saturday/Sunday: 7:30am-1:15pm
Saturday/Sunday: 12:45pm-5:30pm
As needed: Private rentals as late as 2:00am. Shifts will vary week to week. There is no set schedule.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  (include but are not limited to the following)
Opens and closes the building, provides excellent customer service, and maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Performs regular cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning windows and mirrors, restocking and sanitizing restrooms, emptying trash and recycling, and wiping down surfaces. Assists with event and class setup and takedown of tables, chairs, and equipment, operates audiovisual equipment, and ensures renters follow facility policies, completing final walk-through reports as needed. Staffs the front desk to greet visitors, answer questions, answer phones, take messages, and process registrations and sales.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS:  
Knowledge of: Operation of a community center; department rules and policies; availability of current classes; basic mathematical functions; janitorial work (including but not limited to: glass and wall cleaning, dusting, trash pickup, restroom clean up, emptying of trash cans, cleaning of kitchen, etc.).

Ability to: Work independently, learn quickly, perform heavy manual labor; work extremely well with others, including customers, staff, contractors, and volunteers; explain policies and procedures clearly and concisely; read and understand English;

Skills: Ability to use office equipment including copy machine, calculator and personal computer, and keyboarding skills.

Benefits

Vacation Pay. The Department: 

Silicon Valley Power is a not-for-profit municipal electric utility serving the City of Santa Clara since 1896, delivering reliable and competitively priced electricity to over 55,000 customers, including many of the world’s largest data centers and technology companies. The Management Analyst (Technology Project Manager) will serve as the department’s strategic technology lead, driving innovation, operational improvement, and digital service delivery across Community Development. This position manages major enterprise systems such as Accela Civic Platform, oversees internal process improvement initiatives, leads technology-focused policy initiatives, oversees customer-facing tools and communications in partnership with internal teams, and acts as the primary liaison to IT and other departments for technology implementation. This position receives direction from Assistant Director, and supervises Business Analysts specializing in Accela Operations, and Enterprise Knowledge.

The role requires a unique blend of systems thinking, project management, user-centered design, and policy insight to shape the tools and workflows used by planners, permit technicians, inspectors, plan checkers, and external customers. 

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Strong project management skills 
• Comfort leading cross-functional initiatives from concept to completion.
• Experience with permit management systems (Accela preferred), data integration, and process improvement in a government or regulated environment.

The Budget Division produces the City’s biennial operating and capital budgets, develops long-term financial projections, analyzes and reports on the budget performance during the year, and works collaboratively with departments on any necessary budget analyses and amendments.

Essential Functions & Duties:

• Oversee the track and structures engineering tasks for design/construction of Caltrain Capital and SOGR projects and provide technical support for planning on grade separation projects.

What You’ll Do
The Assistant/Associate Transportation Planner performs professional transportation planning work; conduct and review transportation impact studies; prepare plans, studies, and reports; and to do related work as required. 

Assistant Transportation Planner - The Assistant Transportation Planner is an entry level class in the transportation planning series. This class is distinguished from the Associate Transportation Planner by the performance of the less complex tasks and duties assigned to positions within the series including assignments in the fields of multi-modal transportation associated projects, master plans, specific plans, policies, and programs. Assignments are generally limited in scope and within the design and procedural framework established by higher level employees. However, as experience is acquired, the employee performs with increasing independence. Since this class is typically used as a continued training class, employees may have only limited work experience. This classification receives general supervision from the Parking Manager, or a higher-level position.

Associate Transportation Planner - The Associate Transportation Planner is a journey level class that performs duties relating to multi-modal transportation and associated projects, master plans, specific plans, policies, and programs. This class is distinguished from the Assistant Transportation Planner by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned including complex plans review, policy development, and advance report preparation. This position requires a high degree of independent judgment exercised on diverse and specialized assignments. It is further distinguished by its major program management responsibilities. Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: 

• Review and analyze land development projects including but not limited to VMT, TDM, LOS, parking compliance and other transportation related issues.

• Assist the day-to-day operations of the City’s 3,000+ on and off-street public parking spaces in downtown San Mateo along with public parking spaces in other commercial areas such as 25th Avenue. Duties may include customer service for commercial parking areas, ordering parts for paid parking equipment, evaluating monthly permit parking programs and making policy recommendations, ensuring that signage in restricted parking areas is in good condition and correct for the restriction needed.

• Evaluate and make recommendations on technical aspects of transit planning, capital, or operating projects involving various transit modes such as rail, auto traffic, bicycle and pedestrian transportation and paratransit parking.

• Participate in the development of policies, procedures, and operational actions related to effective parking management, including periodic review of parking related policy issues such as rates, time limits, enforcement hours, loading zones, and other issues.

• Assist or lead in The City’s Residential Parking Permit Program and downtown parking permit program.
